The Fairy Wand is hands-down the most amazing vibrator I have ever had the pleasure of purchasing. It is primarily used as a 'massager' which makes it excellent for direct and semi-direct clitoral stimulation. That being said, however, it does make a great back massager, and it's adorable look makes it a welcome part of our foreplay routine on any given day. This is definitely a girl's best friend, and though I have never owned or used the Hitachi Magic Wand, I am completely content to say that I will stick with the Fairy Wand instead. The cord makes it great for long play sessions, as you never ever have to worry about a loss of power, and that right there is the #1 reason I bought this toy for my girl!

The Fairy Wand offers a slightly textured hard-plastic base to help you hold onto it a little better during use. It uses a rubber scroll-wheel for controlling the intensity of the vibrations, and a smooth silicone head that is super easy to clean. I experienced no smell when removing it from the box. This little girl is STRONG, so though the material and design make it great for anyone, I would only recommend this larger Fairy Wand for those who really love intense vibrations, and those who also don't have to worry about being discrete.

Though the Fairy Wand is shaped like a large microphone, I think it's a perfect size for what it is. The smaller rechargeable Fairy Wand seems like it would be great for those of us who like to travel with our toys, but the full sized Wand is perfect for everyday use at home. The size and weight can take some getting used to for holding and positioning, but I find the larger size makes it easier to grab and hold onto when things get slippery. The head also makes it great for securing the Wand into place with Shibari, for those of us who love to torture our partners with intense sensations.

As with all classic wand-style massagers, the Fairy Wand offers direct (and very intense) vibrations through the head of the toy. A 'scroll-wheel' controls the vibrations, located on the middle of the shaft of the toy. It's perfectly located for flicking with your thumb during use, meaning you don't have to use your other hand or stop in order to change the intensity like some other 'base dial' controls force you to do. Though easy to use, this toy is EXTREMELY noisy, and should not be used in any location where you would want to be even the slightest bit discreet. A fan will not mask the sound of this toy, and using it under the covers is useless as well. This is a loud toy, but it's a small price to pay for the great sensations it will give you!

An odd thing I noticed when using this toy for a long period of time in the dark is that you will begin to see the insides of the Wand actually glowing from the heat it is producing. The shaft has a tendency to grow rather warm during use, but it has never become uncomfortable in the slightest.

As mentioned before, the Fairy Wand offers a silicone head, which means it is very easy to quickly swipe off with a toy cleaner wipe. I find that our Wand does not get very dirty, as we have no need to use lubricants with it, so a quick little wipe down is all we need to keep her Fairy Wand sparkly and clean. The shaft is hard plastic, which means that it is also easily wiped off with a damp rag and sanitized with a toy wipe, should it manage to get dirty thanks to sticky hands. We keep our wand out in the open, as it is used often! I tuck it inside the bedside stand, ready to be plugged in and used. It attracts no lint or dust, so tossing it into a drawer or a toy box is no problem at all.
