Fun but Silly - Sally Seal

Sally Seal is a bit too silly for me. She has a cute, dual stimulation and separate control design, but it isn't enough for me. I still appreciate the creative effort, though!

Use

One of the reasons I love Fun Factory so much is because of their fun and unique designs. What could be more cute than a seal instead of a rabbit for a rabbit vibe? The Sally Seal is part of the Twist & Shake line from Fun Factory. All of these vibrators have two independently controlled motors. One is for the external vibrating unit and the other for the internal rotation of beads. The design is very non-intimidating. That matched with the size, shape and moderate vibration levels, it is excellent for beginners to toys, or those who have never tried a rotating or dual action vibrator before. The insertable portion is silicone, so it is also very easy to clean and maintain. It is not quiet, waterproof, or light on the batteries, though. If you want power and function over looks, this might not be the best vibrator for you.

Material / Texture

Sally Seal is made of two materials. All of the insertable parts are made of nonporous, body safe silicone. It is 100% silicone, European and medical grade, hypo-allergenic, and free of latex and phthalates. The surface is smooth and has a bit of a matte, velvety feel to it. It collects some lint especially when left out. For some reason, it is slightly sticky where the toy doesn't actually get inserted, which is more in the middle after the seal clitoral attachment. Since the design is hollow in spots, the material is pliable and flexible, but it still has a certain firmness to it. The silicone has a slight smell of plastic, and can't be smelled unless you are nose to nose with the material.

The rest of the vibrator is made of a smooth also non-porous plastic material. It has no smell. It can get hard to hold onto if it gets covered in lubricant or juices.

Sally comes in three colors, baby pink, baby blue, and grey. Personally, I think the blue is cutest, but I ended up with the grey, which technically is the most correct considering that the animal is a seal.
    • Light odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

There is something a bit retro about this vibrator. It's design is far from seamless and a bit bulky. The controls are primitive, yet simple. The total length of the entire vibrator is 9 1/4". The silicone portion is 6 3/4" long, but not all of that can be inserted. The silicone portion includes a whole bunch of seemingly unnecessary bulk below the area that can actually be inserted. It features a seal that is bent in half partially submerged by waves at the base.

The body of the shaft is interesting since the shape is unique. It is about 4 1/2" which is the insertable length. It starts off at the fins which are thin compared to the rest of the shaft body. They are oval shaped, so the diameter changes with the way you turn the toy, but it has about 1" of a diameter. That is only 3" in circumference. The material flexes but the body does not bend because of the hardware beneath it. After the first 1 3/4", the girth increase dramatically to a max diameter of 1 3/4". That's 5 1/2" in circumference.

The seal head is the clitoral stimulator. It connects at about 4 1/2" down and is a total length of 1 3/4". The head has a long nose that makes reaching the clit easier. It is not very flexible, though. The head has surprising detail. Ears, nostrils, ears, and smile are sculpted into the silicone.

Sex Toys Shop

The controls are made of plastic. It has a push button that turns the power on and off. Then there are two more controls in the for of dials, shake and twist. Shake controls the clitoral vibration while the twist controls the shaft rotation.

The batteries get inserted by sliding the battery door off. It requires four AA batteries. That's a lot, in my opinion! Because of all the batteries, this toy is really heavy for its size. Also due to this, it isn't good for traveling. The bottom is flat, so it can be stood up.

Even though the design is cute, this toy is obvious. It's not very discreet.

Functions / Performance / Controls

To use Sally, press the power button and then turn up the dial of either or both separate controls.

VIBRATION:

The dial for the vibration made me think there would be variable speeds, but there isn't. There is only one speed and it's high. The vibrations are buzzy, but are cushioned by the soft silicone material. The noise level is average and may be heard through a thin door if not under covers or in contact with the body. The vibrations are only concentrated in the clitoral attachment. They don't travel far into the shaft at all.

ROTATION:

The rotation has different speeds, unlike the vibration. It seems to have three speeds of rotation. The first is very slow and can't be felt inside of me much at all. I can also almost stop the rotation with my kegel muscles, or if I attempt to tilt the toy at all. The second isn't much better. I need to turn the rotation all the way up to be felt. The noise is higher than the vibration and can be heard through a door, especially if the vibration is on at the same time.

This toy is not waterproof. Do not attempt to operate it in or near water.
    • Battery guzzler
    • Not enough variety
    • Not very discreet

Care and Maintenance

To care for Sally, make sure to only used water based lubricants like the sample that is included in the package. Using a silicone based lubricant can irreversibly gum up the material! Make sure to always remove the batteries before storing. It drains batteries fast as it is, so it's a good idea to remove them just in case you forget to turn the power button off. The toy's dials can be turned all the way down but the power button can still be on make sure no red light is glowing!). To clean, use a damp wash cloth and soap or a toy cleaner. Don't put this toy under running water. It is not waterproof! Store in a dry, dark place.

Packaging

The packaging is large and bulky. Sally comes in a clear plastic clam shell that slides into a vibrant lime green cardboard box. The box has large cut out showing the toy inside. It is very informative and has information and instructions in a few different languages. Included is a user manual and a sample of water based lubricant. A flap that is held closed with magnets opens up to show a diagram of the toy and its parts. It works okay for storage, but can get easily damaged.
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative

Personal comments

Sally Seal is an odd toy and not one that is best for me. With just insertion, the shaft is too thin where it needs to be thicker. It makes it even harder to feel the rotation because it is so thin. Turning on the vibration, the clitoral attachment doesn't reach me in the correct area. Because it is not flexible, there is little I can do about it not meeting up with my clit. Thankfully, the vibrations are strong enough to allow for some transfer to my clit when it makes contact with my skin. The rotation plus the vibration only provides me with moderate stimulation, and I find it frustrating to try to finish with Sally. I have been able to achieve orgasm, but this isn't a toy I'd go to. It's probably better for someone with an even shallower vagina than I have.

Sadly, Sally isn't for me. She is still cute, though!
Follow-up commentary
Sally Seal was a toy I knew I wouldn't hold onto from the beginning. It's too weak and down right awkward to be used with my body. I don't doubt that it can work for some, though.
