Good Toy, Great Gift

Use

Eden offers this toy as a free gift choice for those who friend Eden on Facebook, which is how I acquired mine. Groovies Wave is a traditional vibrator that is good for clitoral stimulation, insertion, and nipple (or other external body) stimulation. This vibrator should not be used anally as it does not have a flared base or a retrieval cord. It can be used for solo or couple play and is incredibly beginner friendly. This was my first insertable vibrator and I found it easy to use and non-intimidating. The rhinestones at the base are quite pretty and not at all tacky like I thought they might look. This toy is definitely pretty enough to be given as a gift.

Material / Texture

The vibrator is made out of plastic, but the smooth texture gives the toy a very nice velvety feel. Despite this, it is still hard and rigid. The material is phthalates-free, body-safe, and can be used with any kind of lubricant.

Design / Shape / Size

The Groovies Wave is appropriately named as it has a "wavy" design to it that divides the vibrator into three sort of bulbous sections. The total length is about 5.5 inches, 4.5 of which are insertable. The base is lined with rhinestones that add some sparkle. The diameter is approximately one inch, so it is not very girthy and might be preferred by beginners who are intimidated by larger toys. Size queens should look elsewhere.

It is a fairly small vibrator, so it is pretty easy to hide and travel friendly. You could easily keep it in a small pouch that could then be packed into a larger bag. I frequently go back and forth between school, my house, and my boyfriend's and I've never had a problem bringing this vibrator along.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations are controlled by a button on the bottom end of the vibrator. Simply press the button to change the setting. There are 8 different settings and they are:

1. Low
2. Medium
3. High
4. Roller coaster
5. Long pulses
6. Short pulses
7. Highest
8. Cycle of the previous 7

The design makes the toy easy to hold and control. The only downside is that you have to cycle through all of the vibrations in order to turn it off. This might be a problem if you need to turn it off quickly for whatever reason.

The vibrations are located more toward the tip, but can be felt in the whole toy. It is not terribly noisy. It can be heard through the covers, but probably not through a closed door. If you are worried about noise, another person in the room would it hear it. Groovies Wave won't disturb the neighbors.

The toy uses 2 AAA batteries and is waterproof. I have not fully submerged it, but it has survived numerous washings in the sink.

Care and Maintenance

The toy is made of plastic, and it is easily cared for. It can be washed with warm water and antibacterial soap or with a toy cleaner.
The relatively small size of the vibrator makes it easy to hide. I keep mine in a small zippered bag in a dresser or desk drawer.

Packaging

The toy came in a plastic "clam-shell" style package. The packaging is sturdy enough that it could be used for storage, but it is not ideal. Inside the plastic is a colored insert that advertises the multiple settings, waterproof, and phthalates-free features of the product on the front. The back details the various settings and includes instructions on how to care for the toy and insert the batteries. While the package does not necessarily scream "porn star sex toy!", it is not the most discreet. If you are incredibly worried about someone knowing what you bought, I would recommend opening your delivery privately.

Experience

Overall, I found this vibrator to be a good first insertable toy. I was comforted by the fact that it is not huge. I enjoyed the multiple settings, especially the one that cycles through all of the different patterns. I found that the continuous change in pattern kept me on edge. After I got over my initial excitement for my first of this kind of toy, I found that vibrations are a bit weak. The vibration are not strong enough for me to receive much clitoral pleasure and I only use it for insertion. I also I tend to use this toy in conjunction with a clitoral stimulator. I would not be able to finish with this alone. This is not to say that the Groovies Wave is a bad toy, though. I throughly enjoy it and highly recommend it to beginners.

While I still use this on occasion, it seems to have lost its oomph. Even with fresh batteries, it just doesn't have as much power anymore.

    • Depends on what kind you are looking for (clitoral, g-spot, combination). I would suggest figuring out what kind you want. You can filter the product listings by that type and then sort by rating. Check out the reviews. If you can narrow it down to a few that you like, you can post a comparative discussion to the forum to get some additional feedback.
    • That's a really vague question. If you're just getting started, I would recommend any toy made up of a body-friendly material (such as silicone) and familiarize yourself with what toys are made of and the pros and cons of each type of material. The more hygienic materials tend to cost more, but they are worth it in the end because they will last longer and are more body-friendly.

      What do you like in the way of toys? If you're not sure, the "vibrators" section of EdenFantasys will allow you to choose from and narrow your selection down to dual-action vibes, clitoral stimulators, anal vibrators, double penetration vibes, and a lot more. If you want the site to show you only toys made of a certain material or of a certain length, you can do that, too.

      The concept of a "best vibrator" is highly subjective. What works for me may not (and likely won't) work for you. Read reviews before you buy, and hopefully you'll find the best vibe for you.

  • Groovie Waves not working?
    • Are other people having problems with the Groovie Waves spontaneously quitting? I received it and attempted to use it as directed but I barely got it inserted before it sputtered twice and died. I've been doing my kegels but I don't think I'm THAT good yet ;) Just curious if others are having problems.
    • Mine worked fine.. hasn't given me any trouble and I've had it a couple of weeks. (knock on wood!) hehe!
