Here’s the thing. Even though the vibrations of the Fairy Mini are incredibly strong, and yes, even stronger than the vibrations of the Hitachi, it's a “surface” vibe. The vibrations don't soak into your skin and punch through the first few inches of your flesh like the Hitachi does. The Hitachi is a deep, rumbly type vibrator that sinks in deep and pulls the orgasms out of you whether you want it to or not. It's for this reason that the Hitachi has such a following, particularly in the BDSM community, because it's the perfect toy for “forced orgasm” play. Whether you like it not, eventually you are going to come if the Hitachi is on your clit.

I don't feel like the same can be said about the Fairy Mini. Because although the vibrations are stronger than the Hitachi, and actually border on being too painful if you are not careful, the sensations stay right on the surface. It's a high intensity, buzzy type massager that doesn't sink deep into your muscles like the Hitachi does.

But that doesn't mean that the Fairy Mini isn't a great vibrator. It is. But if you are trying to use the Hitachi as a comparison, then you will need to keep everything I've just said in mind, as I was a little bit disappointed with this one.

I love the size of this massager. That's the one thing about the Hitachi that's difficult to get over, and that's how cumbersome it is. This offers a smaller, cuter design which is perfect for either masturbation or partner play. It comes with a pink draw-string bag which is great, but to be honest, the bag needs to be bigger, as it's a very tight fit and sometimes you have to wrestle with the power cord in order to get it all stuffed in there. Also, the power cord is a bit on the short side, which does kinda suck.

I will also take a sec to point out that this massager has the tendency to get hot rather quickly. That does worry me a little bit because I don't know how long it will hold out before giving up and dying on me.

And yes. It is loud. Very loud. I can't help but start laughing when I crank it all the way up as it really does sound like a tiny jet taking off. I'm not kidding.

One of my favorite things to do during partner play with the Hitachi is to have it between me and my boyfriend while we are in the missionary position, or sandwiched between me and the bed if I' m on my stomach with him at my back. He really enjoys this as well and it's usually enough to make us both come pretty quickly, and sometimes more than once. But the Hitachi is a little bulky which means it's not necessarily the most comfortable thing to have digging into you.

When I heard about the line of Fairies, and I saw this one, that was the first thing that popped into my head… How much more comfortable this massager would be to have between us than the Hitachi. And if it was stronger than the Hitachi like everyone was saying it was, then so much the better.

Well, I quickly learned that although it is stronger and has a faster vibration to it, it doesn't go as deep as the Hitachi does. And if you aren't careful, you go from being close to orgasm, to crossing right over the line into way too much stimulation and actually hurting. And that's through a couple of layers of cloth.

For me, it was difficult to find a middle ground. I'm a power queen. Certified. But even with the multiple levels of strength and speed, I couldn't reach orgasm with this massager during partner play, and trust me, it wasn't from a lack of trying. He didn't have that problem. The wand got him off pretty quickly once we gave up on trying to get me off with it, but when he would have had a second orgasm immediately following the first one like he can have with the Hitachi, he went from being right on the edge to all of a sudden being in pain from too much stimulation.

And that was through a towel… A folded towel.

Now, even though we tried several times to incorporate this toy into our playtime and failed as far as I was concerned, I have found that it does work well for me during solo play where I'm in complete control over the wand. Because it is a surface vibe, when I finally do come, the orgasms are very sharp and intense… but it can be a workout to get there. There is a very fine line with this massager between not enough stimulation and too much. Your clit can go from humming to numb in nothing flat and your entire pussy going from “oh, yeah!” to “damn it, I can't reach that itch!”

But, the orgasms are great once you figure out your own personal balancing act. And if you are a fan of wand-like massagers, then I recommend looking into the Fairy line. I absolutely ADORE the littlest one, The Pocket Fairy, and have already posted a review for it. I'm also considering getting the biggest sister in the lineup, and seeing how she works out as a couple of people have said she's even better than this one.
