It is very powerful, and is designed as a full body massager, with a large spongy head (tennis ball size) at the end of a long wand. It is made for external use for vibrating the vulva and clitoral regions, but does have attachments made by other companies that you can purchase for penetration options, including the Gee Whiz, G-spotter and Wonderwand.
It is probably the most powerful and intense vibrator I've ever had, with two setting (low and high) both of which are intense. Used indirectly, it has the power to send strong, deep vibrations through out the whole genital area. For this reason it is a popular choice for women who have trouble reaching orgasm. I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The funny thing is, I find the Tongue to be a lot louder than the Hitachi.
I haven't used the tongue. My new Pocket Rocket is loud as well.
The Tongue is great... but it is jelly and it is loud. The Hitachi is really the powerhouse of vibrators but I swear Lady Calston does whatever they can (makers of the tongue and MANY other crap toys) to make their vibrators sound almost as loud as a sonic boom.
