The Hitachi Magic Wand Vibrator is everything it's cracked up to be! This is definitely a toy that should be in every woman's collection, especially if discretion is not an issue. Plus, it doubles as a muscle massager and doesn't require batteries!Published: June 18, 2008

Cons:
Fairly short cord and soft head, but use an extension cord and head attachement
15 years ago, when I was a youngling of 21, I bought my husband a plug-in “muscle massager” for Christmas, naively thinking it was, indeed, a muscle massager. It is not the Hitachi, has a heating element for excellent muscle massage, and is still going strong after all this time. Of course, it did not take me long to discover the alternate uses for the massager, and—power queen I am—I have been a huge fan ever since.
So I thought it was only appropriate I review the famous and fabulous Hitachi Magic Wand as my 150th review! And it is about time! The Hitachi has a shorter cord than my other vibe, and is about as heavy though only twice the length. What the Hitachi can offer, however, that my other vibe cannot is attachments, attachments, attachments!
It is hard to say much about the Hitachi that has not already been said. It is heavy, loud, and a true powerhouse! I am not in love with the soft head, probably because I prefer very intense stimulation, but this can be easily corrected by an attachment. I have not tried it for actual muscle massage yet, since I have been busy using it in other places. ;) The Hitachi features only two speeds—powerful and VROOM! In a rare change of pace, I actually prefer the lower setting on this toy, since it seems to “rumble” more and provide more sensation. High is great for a quick get-off, though, but it does not seem to provide as deep and satisfying orgasm for me. The vibe is as easy to use as can be, with a simple switch that turns it in between power settings.
All in all, I highly recommend the Hitachi Magic Wand for those who love power, do not need to be discreet, and love plug-in vibes! The price is also excellent for something that does not require batteries. Highly recommended!

I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!
I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.
I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys! -

This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. I feel very confused when I read raving reviews of the Hitachi. To me it looks very bulky, not at all sexy, and now I learned it only has two speeds. My only guess is that the head is bigger than most toys, so it can cover your vulva well?
You're correct, the head does cover the vulva well. It only has two speeds, but they are super powerful! It IS bulky and heavy. I particularly like it because of the available attachments, though--the Gee Whizard got me off four times in a row!. Otherwise, I have another plug-in "massager" that works jst as well.

How low is the low setting? I'm quite sensitive.....
The low setting, Beautiful Dreamer, is honestly not very low at all if you're very sensitive. Some of the attachments can loosen the vibrations, or you can also use it through clothing or even a pillow or maxi pad if it's to much for you at first. Good luck, and enjoy! Nice boyfriend!!!

A truly good but not great toy. At least not for me. I enjoyed the feel of the head but the power left me feeling kind of numb. I'm more of a didlo kinda girl. Though I would still reccomend it to my freinds.
I love my wand, but find it to be distracting with the noise. Eventually I will try the attachments as well. It doubles nicely as a muscle massager.

Justforu - Have you tried any of the attachments? Some of them diffuse the vibrations somewhat, like the Pleasure Dome, and some of the dildo attachments are just wonderful!
OpenMinded - Yeah, the noise can be a problem, but sometimes it's worth the annoyance. I hope you do try the attachments--some of them are really spectacular!
