Hitachi's Feisty Little Sister
The Mini Fairy is a petite, but crazy powerful, plug-in style wand vibe. As a lover of good wand massagers, I was totally impressed and enamored with this toy. It is discreet and adorable with a compact design. It has some small quirks that are a bit bothersome, but nothing big enough to tarnish my overall opinion. All in all, this is a fabulous and strong vibe that delivers insanely hard orgasms. If you are a fan of powerful vibes, I would highly recommend this toy.Published: November 27, 2010
Pros:
Plug-in, insanely powerful, adjustable levels of vibrations, cute design, compact.
Cons:
Noisy, annoying and difficult to clean.
I absolutely, completely, and totally LOVE wand style massagers. They are my go-to vibe for everything, and I mean everything! It goes without saying that I am a die-hard Hitachi fan. I've made it a personal mission to try out as many wand vibes as I possibly can, because they work for me, and get me off so well. So when I saw the fairies, I was instantly curious.
So, the Fairy Mini is a basic electric wand vibe; it plugs into the wall and has an obscene amount of power. No batteries or charging involved. Plug it in, and enjoy dizzying orgasms to your heart's content.
The mini Fairy comes packaged in a very simple cardboard box, with no indication of its 'real' purpose as a sex toy. It isn't very informative, but it is discreet, looking more or less like a back massager. It comes with a velvety pink drawstring bag to store the wand in. The rest of the package is recyclable, which is always nice.
The first very cool thing is its looks. I'm not a super girly girl, and I don't love super girly toys, but this is definitely prettier than the Hitachi (or the classic WAHL...but seriously, a moldy rock is more attractive than that thing!). It is cute as opposed to utilitarian. The whole wand is white, with a matte pink handle and the words 'mini fairy' written across the top of the handle. It is deceivingly adorable, really, because when you turn it on, its true nature is revealed. It is very compact as well; the whole toy is about 10" long and about 1 3/4" in diameter. Super easy to hold onto, especially with the slightly grippy finish of the handle. The head has some ridges on it, maybe for pleasing texture? I am not quite sure, they aren't gentle enough (for me, anyway) to rub them on my bits. I prefer the smooth portion of the head. The neck that the head sits on is somewhat flexible, and it has some give to it when it is pressed against your body.
This is an external toy, and should not be used for penetration! There are, however, head accessories for the Mini Fairy, and some can be used internally.
Unfortunately, the mini fairy is a pretty noisy vibe. It is about as loud as your average wand massager, quieter in my opinion than the Hitachi, but still rattly and clearly audible. A blanket lowers the sound, and low ambient noise helps as well (such as music or TV), but it isn't the most discreet toy in this department. The noise does lessen a bit when it is pressed against your body during use. A bit. Overall, this isn't an issue for me, but those with roommates or what-have-you may want to keep this in mind.
As far as looks go, the Mini Fairy is low key and benign. It just looks like a cute little neck or back massager. No one is going to know what it is 'really' for, unless they are sex toy savvy. In which case, they will either not say anything, or want to know where you got it.
Silicone-, water-, and oil-based lubricants are safe to use with the Mini Fairy. It is made of 'food grade' plastic, so it is latex and phthalate free, hypoallergenic, body safe, and can be sanitized. Which brings me to the cleaning part. The head is kind of annoying to clean; the ridges on the head tend to get dust and lint in them. The body of the vibe (the handle) also has lots of nooks and crannies. This is my least favorite thing about the toy, but most wand vibes have this downfall. The head can be wiped down with alcohol, or wiped down with a damp soapy washcloth. Same for the handle. The Mini Fairy is not waterproof, so care should be taken to not ever submerge it or splash it with much water. I find the quickest way to clean the head and little nooks is with toy and body wipes, or even baby wipes.

Experience
I freaking love, love, love this vibe. I am a power-slut when it comes to vibrating toys, period. I had high hopes for this toy and it met them, and then some. The adjustment of the vibrations are really great, so you can start on low and dial up as you get ready for more oomph. Also, the vibration 'quality' is low and thuddy as opposed to high and buzzy. I love this, so, so much. The head diffuses the vibrations, yet they are still astonishingly strong and penetrating. It is just amazing. It isn't as rumbly as the Hitachi, but very close. It certainly rivals the Magic Wand. I wouldn't go so far as to say it is more powerful, but close. It's a new favorite. The size is a huge plus, and the variations to choose from is also a huge benefit. It is definitely powerful enough for me to use when I am playing with big toys, which is an important feature in a vibe (for me, anyway). I will say, however, that sensitive people may find the Mini to be just TOO MUCH as it is a very powerful vibrator. Though the dial provides some options, overall it is insanely strong.
Another test would be if my partner liked it. He loves the Hitachi as much as I do, and he can have stupid-fast and powerful orgasms with it just by pressing it on the underside of his cock head. So I was dying to see how he'd like this one. Well, he was impressed, thoroughly, though he did say it takes a bit to find the 'sweet spot' on the dial, between too low and too high vibrations. He also said the highest setting feels stronger, though higher pitched, than the high on the Hitachi.
The size makes it wonderfully easy to use during all kinds of partner sex, vaginal and anal, in several different positions. Reverse cowgirl is certainly my favorite way to use this vibe during a romp, or face-to-face missionary with my guy leaning back a bit. It is SO great to have a ultra strong wand vibe that is relatively unobtrusive. Seriously, the compact design of the Mini Fairy is genius. The cord could definitely be longer, in fact I may get an extension cord for it. If I am close to an outlet, it is fine, but for those times I'm not, it is a big pain.
For the size, I cannot believe the power this thing kicks out. I am really pleased with this vibe, and have used it nearly every day since it arrived. So I am curious to see how it holds up to rigorous use, hopefully well. I will definitely update on its durability/longevity.

Fairy Mini Wand -vs- the Hitachi Wand
-
The Hitachi is legendary. This is the first i have heard of the mini. Are the toy head the same size? Wondering because i know there are many attachments for the Hitachi. What are the differences in noise sound between the two.
I kinda like the mini due to the color & the way the vibration speed is adjustable.
Anyone tried both and have feedback. The video reviewer was very helpful, but i would like a few more opinions. Thanks as always. -
I think the "Big Fairy" ("Fairy Wand", not the mini) is the same size as the Hitachi. The controls work the same way. However, the Fairy line has many attachments of its own, particularly the Mini. :)
I haven't tried the Hitachi, so I can't compare, but I love my Fairy. -
The length of the power cord would be a nice piece of information to include with the specifications.

Fairy Mini Price Increase
-
I realize it's funny to post this when it's discounted right now.
My current one barely works, it's really worn out. I wanted/want to get a new one, it was out of stock for quite a while. When it was back in stock, I noticed the price had went up from $49.99 to 54.99. I don't think they started including shipping in the purchase price, but maybe I'm wrong. I wonder why the increase though.:/ -

Fairy original vs. Fairy Mini
-
Do they have the same power and intensity? Ie, same motor?

Thank you for viewing Fairy mini wand massager – sex toy review page!

Excellent review, it seems like this is a great vibrator! I'm interested in trying out one of the Fairies.
I have a rechargable fairy, and I'm very tempted to make the plunge and get a plug-in because I hate having to recharge it!
Great review. I have the full sized fairy and eventually want to own the whole line.
Very nice review! I have yet to decide on a massager because I can't decide between one of the Fairies and the Hitachi.
Great review!!
Great review
This thing definitely scares me. I like my vibrations much gentler. Thanks for the excellent review and great pictures.
WANT
Thanks all for the awesome comments and votes!
@Waterfall I'd definitely recommend both of course but the Hitachi is a classic and if I HAD to choose it would be the one.
good review !
So excited, mine is on its way! Great review!
Awesome liilii080 that's great! It's a super fun vibe, I luuuuurv it.
Thanks for the kind words as well!
Great review, very helpful. I like power, but I also like the option of turning the power down if I need to, so I think the dial control would be perfect for me. Now I need to check the other wands on here and see if they have the dial control too, or not. Thank you!
Thanks for the review.
