Almost worth having because it's so adorable, but worth a second thought if you need strong vibes to get you off.

Use

The LAYAspot by Fun Factory is a multi-functional, multi-speed vibe whose shape is vaguely reminiscent of my father's Norelco shaver. The black and silver model, especially. But I digress! This vibrator is designed for clitoral stimulation, though it would feel good anywhere that vibrations enhance pleasure.

The LAYAspot is probably best suited for folks looking to have a clitoral orgasm, or who want clitoral stimulation in addition to other sensations. Its shape is ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing; the vibration and pulse modes are both pleasant.

Material / Texture

Made with elastomed, this toy is hypoallergenic. It's latex-free, pthalate-free, and non-porous. This makes it easy to clean and submersible (just make sure to take the batteries out when you're done to let it dry). The texture can feel dry, but doesn't really stick to the skin. It's better with a little bit of lube (or if you're already a little aroused). I would recommend a water-based lube with this toy, since it's easier to wash off than silicone lube. This doesn't smell or taste like much, but it is definitely Fun Factory's characteristic smooth matte - and wonderful to feel!

Design / Shape / Size

One of the reasons why this vibrator was particularly appealing to me was because it didn't have any goofy animal shapes or obnoxious colors (I have the light-blue and cream colored one). This may be one of the only toys that I've ever owned that could pass as "discreet!" It is built to be held in the hand, and can be cupped, it's pretty small. I think that this size is fine for clitoral stimulation; it might even be a bit broad for some users; it's not a point of contact to the clit but rather a more diffuse feeling around the pubic area. If you're looking for a super-concentrated clit trip, this is probably not the toy for you.

Functions / Performance / Controls

One thing that I hate about most vibes is that they have an up and down button that can be difficult to place while you're using the toy. Since this toy is pretty small, it's not difficult to feel around for the raised control buttons, though sometimes it's difficult to coordinate which way is up or down if you're trying to get off. This is one of the design flaws in this piece.

That said, the toy does have 8 levels of vibration (though none come close to the Hitachi Magic Wand, so if you're looking for a smaller, discreet Hitachi, look elsewhere), and some pulsation patterns if that's your thing. This toy is also pretty darned quiet, a definite plus if you have roommates or just don't want to hear the (rather unsexy) BZZZZZZZZZZZ of a more powerful vibe.

Care and Maintenance

Being submersible, this toy is not terribly difficult to care for. EdenFantasys recommends cleaning elastomed toys with antibacterial cleaner and warm water. This is as simple as an antibacterial hand soap or a mild disinfectant solution. There are a variety of toy cleaning solutions out there too, which can be used to clean a toy like the LAYAspot. Being so small, it's easy to store too. Its packaging is a combination of cardboard and clamshell plastic. This container can be re-used to store the item, but since it doesn't attract much lint, putting it in a plastic or cloth bag would work just fine.

Packaging

Packaging for Fun Factory products is pretty consistent: plastic inside of a sleek cardboard shell. The LAYAspot came with a packet or two of Fun Factory lube, which I have not used (I'm pretty picky about lubes).

Thanks, very nice review. I've been eying this little toy for awhile but it keeps getting pushed back on the list for some reason. Maybe I'll give it a try, I have a soft spot for adorable vibes. I wish I could get of from adorable alone.

not sure but we have the Laya and the better than chocolate ( the music ed) both have their good points, but the laya is a little smaller and compact. Both were really well tho and the music seting is fun feature!

So my partner and i decided to check out this site and order a bunch of new items. I just ordered the LAYAspot and it should be here friday! Ehh i cant wait! How does everyone feel about this cute toy?
    • reading the MANY many reviews on the toy will give you a good idea about the overall feelings and consensus of the toys.
    • it's nice that there are so many user submitted reviews on this site. it's so hard to choose a toy, especially an expensive one, with only the manufacturer description.

  • LayaSpot Questions
    • So, I just posted a review of this toy on my blog and and am rereading some reviews here. I am seeing some discrepencies and have a few questions for you.

Some reviewers state that this is a waterproof toy but my instructions clearly state that it is only splashproof. Perhaps the instructions have changed? Maybe Fun Factory decided it wasn't really waterproof? If you have this toy, what did your instructions say?

Furthermore, a few people said that they received silicone based BodyFluid with their LayaSpot but I received their water based lube and, again, my instructions said not to use silicone based lube (I believe, can't find them).

Also, I think it's just me but my Layaspot pretty much smelled god awful when I got it. Anyone else?

Just looking for different experiences with these things..

I've heard that fun factory toys can stink to high heaven, and I have no idea why they would because they're supposed to be 100% silicone. I have other silicone toys and they don't smell at all. Maybe it's not the toy itself but the packaging that surrounds it? Sorry I'm not much help, but the smell that people talk about with FF toys is enough for me to be wary of buying one.

I have since pitched my instructions, but I think mine said splashproof rather than waterproof. I got the Toyfluid (water-based) lube, and mine was smell-free! All of my FF toys have been totally odorless, actually.
