Danae - wand massager discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by Waterfall

The Danae by California Exotics and Dr. Berman is battery operated massager. This massager works for general body massage to take care of aching muscles and also can work to stimulate the vulva, clitoris, and nipples. It is light-weight which makes it a good choice for anyone and can also make it a little more easy to use during partner sex. I would recommend this to those who do not need very strong vibrations and who prefer broad based stimulation to pin point stimulation.

The Danae is made from plastic with a velvety feel due to it being PU coated. When it is taken out of the package for the first time it has a smell. Even after I have used and cleaned this toy a few times, I am still able to smell the plastic when I put it close to my nose. The head of the massager has a velvet coat on it while the body of the massager is a smooth more shiny plastic. Plastic can be used with silicone and water based lubes to provide some extra glide. Although plastic in general is easy to clean, this one requires a little more care because it is not waterproof. I find that it is safest (because I am not sure if water can get into the toy through the neck of the massager) to clean this one with soap and water using a wash cloth. This ensures that I do not get water in places that it shouldn't be. Using toy cleaner also works very well.

The Danae is a total of 11 1/2 inches in length with a 2 1/8 inch diameter (which is not meant for insertion). The size of the head works well for broad stimulation of the vulva and clitoris at the same time and also for regular body massage. The neck of this massager is also pretty flexible and this makes it easy to apply more pressure to the area of your choice without potentially breaking it.

It takes 3 C batteries (which add some weight to this one). This can be a downside for some because not many toys take C batteries and whenever I go to the store this size costs more than AA or AAA batteries. However, the fact that it takes 3 C batteries means that it is not a weak vibrator. It has 3 levels of steady vibration. There are two separate buttons, one has a "3" on it and that turns the toy on (automatically on level 1) and increases the speed. After you get to the 3rd level it goes back to level 1. The other button is "OFF" and is for turning the toy off no matter what level you are on.

Level 1 is very low in intensity and doesn't really do much for me. Level 2 is a nice step up and feels good for light stimulation and light body massage. Level 3 is strong enough to feel pretty good on my back, thighs, nipples, and my neck. It works pretty well for stimulation of the entire vulva, but this is not something I enjoy as much as pin point stimulation. I find that using this level on my vulva feels a bit too much on my labia, so I prefer this toy for back and neck massage. In regards to noise, this one can be a loud one if you do not hold it in the right place. I can hear the batteries rattling around when it is on the 2nd and 3rd setting unless I hold the toy closer to the head.

It was pretty easy for me to use the Danae and to stimulate various parts of my body. I found that it worked best on my back. The velvet plastic glides so nicely over my skin and the head flexes so that I can get all of the spots on my back that are in need of a massage.
I did use this on my vulva/clitoris at times, but I didn't like it as much. It felt a little buzzy on the sides, but when I pressed the top of the head on my clitoris I found that I liked it a lot more. For me the broad stimulation is nice for warm up, but not for bringing me to the point of orgasm. However, I still prefer this one for my back.

Honestly this one rarely gets taken out anymore due to the fact that I prefer my Wahl for body massage and strong for clitoral stimulation. Danae just doesn't pack enough power for me and I hate that it needs C batteries. I think it would be best for someone who doesn't want a lot of power and who really values the fact that it is portable.
