I don't have a crush on Shane.

Shane's World College Crush is a cute 'freshman' vibrator. Unfortunately cute is really all it has to offer. I am surprised at how underwhelming the Crush is. Given the size and shape of the vibrator, I expected more. Crush is certainly not "number one" as the packaging claims.

Use

While the body of the Crush is adequate for all-over stimulation, the nose of it is best used to stimulate the genitals, particularly the clitoris. It also works well against the anus, though I don't suggest switching back and forth between clitoral and anal stimulation without first cleaning the toy. And I don't recommend the toy for anal insertion.

I do think Crush is more of a beginner's vibrator, but at the same time I do think there are other beginner's vibrators that are even better than this, while costing about the same.

It could serve as a gag gift, but if you're wanting to get an affordable first vibe for someone, that they would actually use, again I would look elsewhere.

Material / Texture

Crush is made from ABS plastic and is phthalate free, making it a 7 on the material safety scale.

Shane's World College Crush

The plastic has an PU coat, giving it a velvet touch finish which is quite nice. This allows it to glide easily over the skin with almost no drag. But the velvet touch finish does little in terms of additional stimulation.

So if you are a beginner, or just dislike texture, a velvet touch finish is a good way to go.

The toy has no bad odor, taste or smell.

Design / Shape / Size

Crush is 5.5 inches long with 3.5 inches being instertable.
Length

It is 1.5 inches in diameter (4.75 inches in circumference) at the widest point, and 1.25 inches in diameter (4 inches in circumference) at narrowest point. And the nose of the vibrator is about 1.75 inches long.

Due to the thickness and bulbous shape of Crush, I would say it's better suited to intermediate and advanced users, if you're looking for something to be used internally.

While there are toys that are easier to hide and better suited to travel than the Crush, it's not impossible. You'll probably want to supply it with a traveling pouch of some sort though, and make sure to leave the batteries out until you arrive at your destination.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Crush is a two-AA, battery operated, push-button vibe with three steady vibration strengths. And thanks to its 'O' ring, it is waterproof.

The vibrations, which I didn't find that strong, even on the highest setting, are about "2 bees" noisy, and very buzzy. As far as I've been able to determine the motor is located in the nose end of the toy, but the vibrations are no stronger there than they are towards the cap end.

The push button is very simple to use: 1, 2, 3, off. But even adding the slightest bit of pressure to the button causes the vibrations to 'pause.' And when you do push down the button, the vibrations stop-start into the next strength.

Care and Maintenance

Clean-up is a breeze. Wash it with warm water and antibacterial soap, or toy cleaner, and you're done. And it is safe to use with water-based and silicone-based lubricants. Though I can't imagine that you would need lube unless you decided to risk using it anally.

You can store it in the packaging it comes with, but you'd be just as fine storing it in a Ziploc baggy.

Packaging

Crush comes, and is visible, in a basic plastic sleeve, with an insert that shows the partially clothed figure of what I'm assuming is meant to be a female college student.

While not particularly discreet, it's still minimal. When I pulled it out of the shipping packet I expected the plastic sleeve to be sealed all along the edges: the kind of seal that is a bear to cut open with scissors if you don't have a can opener handy. But this wasn't the case. The two plastic halves peeled apart easily.

The front of the visible insert shows the name of the toy, the Cal Ex logo, a waterproof symbol, and says "He's number one!" in quotations.

The back of the insert gives a bit more product information in bullet points, highlighting the material safety and its finish, its features, that it's water proof, and lets you know what two batteries are required to operate it.

Experience

I knew it wasn't going to be as strong as my We-Vibe Tango or Salsa, but I had at least hoped it would be on par with my Doc Johnson Black Magic--my very first vibe.

This was not the case. I don't know if the motor just wasn't as strong, or if Crush just doesn't transmit the vibrations as well, but even on its strongest setting it didn't feel as strong as my Black Magic's strongest setting. Even the Tango/Salsa on their lowest settings were stronger.

So for external stimulation, it didn't feel like much more than a tickle. Internal stimulation wasn't any better. My own body was absorbing and muffling the vibrations. While I've used glass dildos that were as thick, and silicone dildos that were thicker, I found Crush's shape to be a bit awkward for insertion.

The nose didn't allow for much wiggle room either. Turning it toward the side was uncomfortable, and meanwhile, it had no effect in stimulating, or transmitting vibrations, to my inner front vaginal wall, which I think is what the purpose of the nose shape was supposed to be.

Needless to say, Crush isn't a vibe I'll be using, or recommending to anyone I know. There are better vibes out there.

Thank you for the nice review. Sorry about the disappointing toy, the vibe's nose does have an awkward angle.
