I Kissed a Butterfly and I Liked It

The Butterfly Kiss is popular for various reasons: it's cheap, it's travel friendly and it packs a punch. If you are curious about simultaneous stimulation or want a cheap, good quality "rabbit", this is an excellent option. A modern classic in the making.

useful review
I love dual stimulation of the g-spot and clitoris. Most of my best orgasms have come from this method. I want a rabbit vibrator, but 1) some models are too girthy for me, a beginning toy user and 2) rabbits for the most part are too expensive for most people, especially broke-ass college students. Since I would need to get used to more girth, I decided to look for a cheap, but good quality g-spot vibrator that was run on batteries, multifunction, and made of phthalates free material. After looking at various g-spot vibrators online I decided to purchase California Exotic's Butterfly Kiss g-spot vibrator.

First off, the Butterfly Kiss was cheap; it's usually sold for 15 dollars or less online. It is powered by two AAA batteries so it's much cheaper to buy batteries for this toy than say, a toy run on C batteries. The toy has three speeds controlled by a single button at the bottom of the toy: a low speed, a medium speed and a high speed. And it is made of TPR, a material that is phthalates free and less porous than cyberskin or jelly material. Just remember to roll a condom over the toy before sharing. This toy also attracts dust quite easily so always clean with soap and water before and after use.

The Butterfly Kiss has a slight rubber smell when you first open it, but it's not empowering and it disappears over time. To use the toy you insert the short shaft which is specially designed for g-spot stimulation, into the vagina and place the butterfly part against the clit. The butterfly part should be touching it as close as possible so that the antennae and wings flutter about on your clitoris. Hence the "butterfly kiss." The shaft is too short to thrust with in my opinion, but you can still rub the butterfly part in a back and forth motion to stimulate your lady parts to orgasm.

You control the speeds through a single button that cycles through all three. This means you need to go through from low-medium-high to turn it off. I like to start at low (a tickle), then medium when I start getting worked up and high when I start feeling really good. The high is very powerful and alone makes the toy a great value. It's a pity then, that the toy drains batteries like a vampire sucking blood. As the batteries die the vibrations die in power as well. But trust me, the allure of the high speed makes you want to reload each time your toy dies.

I've had this toy for almost a year and I keep coming back for more. This is an all-around wonderful beginners toy and I do not regret my purchase.
Follow-up commentary
I have a full-on rabbit now, but I still use this when I want something smaller. I still find it a lot of fun.

Great job reviewing this! I have one almost identical, except it's the "platinum edition" in all honesty, I don't think there's any difference except one is a bit iridescant? Anyways, I loved the design and it would've really got me excited had it worked or been shaped right. Did you have any issues getting the butterfly to reach the clitoris while they toy was inserted? That was my biggest problem. I'm like you, I find most rabbits too girthy for comfort and usually just painful and way over priced! I wish mine like this had been better. It was a perect little size and everything, but wouldn't do it for me. Mine didn't get very intense with the vibrations and over time it developed a mind of it's own... a crazy one! It will switch setting every few minutes without the button being touched. Creepy! Lol.

Anyways, I enjoyed reading your opinion on the toy though. I'd love it if they made one just like this only with a butterfly that reached the clitoris better. Since you mentioned that you don't care for the girth of the average rabbits on the market and they're so expensive., I thought I might give you a suggestion. It seems we may have similar tastes in this area I got the Cliterrific Cup (Doc Johnson) and it's a rabbit style and it's ended up being my favorite toy for months! You should check it out, if you liked this I bet you'll like that one too. It's not girthy at all and provides some G-spot stim. I actually liked it better than my classic rabbit! It's on EF for an amazing price too.

kendra: That sucks. Yeah, I did have trouble positioning it at first but it got easier for me over time. A toy having a mind on its own is freaky, too. 0_0

And thanks for the recommendation! I'll go check it out!

  • Blue more expensive?
    • Anyone know why the blue is more expensive than the pink? They're the same, right? So why is one more expensive?
    • I've never noticed.

  • i have experiment attraction to women,,, i´m bicurious?
    • hi my name is yesenia paris,, and i´m 22 but since i was in high school i kind of have curiosity for girls,, i never like really kiss a girl or anything or i never had any female friend to experiment that, like i am very shy person and also like a lonely girl,, althought i am a very pleasant person and i good human being ,, noone seens to like me,,, but although of that matter i still feel the curiosity may because i have never been with a girl before
does that make a bisexual,a bicurious,of it just because the loneliness or the lock of friends,, like i never have a real
girl friend ,, like it´s samething that happens with boys,, you are not friends with them ,, but you like them in a different way,,, i always thing it´s because my loneliness
and the need of an another ,, girl being friends with me i also don´t have a mom to call and talk about my problems maybe it´s because of that the confusion thanks have a nice day
    • Someone made a similar post a while back, and I'll basically tell you what we told her. Don't follow stereotypes. Don't label yourself. If you are interested in girls, then you just are. If you haven't experimented with girls, personally I feel that when I liked someone it isn't based on any particular factor, it is based on the person themselves. I tell people I am bisexual, but really I think of myself as pansexual, not limiting emotion and attraction to anything. Not gender, not age, not race, not social status.

I think that sometimes people can become lonely and will "settle", making them open their views and ideas of dating up, to allow "just anyone" to enter into their lives. My boyfriend was this way, before meeting me, dating anyone who would say yes because he had no friends, and had been hurt and heartbroken so badly he just wanted to feel loved and accepted. I also have a straight friend who dated women just so she could have someone to date, but she wasn't attracted to them, although she liked to experiment and have fun, she says she is straight, but I don't give her a label.

If you ever need a friend to talk to, I am a good listener :)
    • Excellent advice Peggi and I second that. We don't need labels...we're just people. I'm a good listener too.

  • What's up with different Butterfly Kisses?
    • When I bought my Butterfly Kiss I thought there were only 2 versions - the standard and the Platinum Edition. Since I couldn't find the PE in my country I went with the regular one. I was so bent on getting it after watching Kara Sutra's review of it. She said it was TPR. I got my Butterfly Kiss. On the packaging (plastic shell with a piece of paper) it said that it's "phthalate-free" and made of TPR. I'm inclined to believe it as it didn't smell, didn't turn ugly yellow even when I had it for more than a year, didn't sting my bits (jelly does).

Now, however I see those jelly Butterfly Kisses. What's the deal? Was my vibe mis-labeled or are there more than 2 versions? I still have the paper insert from the packaging if you'd like to see it. The vibe itself looks a bit more opaque than what I see in EF catalog - it's always looked like this.

I would also ask people from EF who deal with the Review Program. Is my Butterfly Kiss same as yours (and thus qualifies for a review) or is it a different product?
    • Hi there!! California Exotic Novelties was the 1st to come out with this fantastic design. & yes we only have 2 versions, the platinum & the original. Check it out on our website link

Many other companies have tried to duplicate our product but have had no success. We are the original creators with the best product :) Hope this helps!

It's the jelly - throw it away or always use a condom. Look for better materials like silicone or VixSkin.
    • I wouldn't even use a condom...just get rid of it and stay away from the material.

  • Jelly Deformation?
    • Well I loved this little bugger and it came at a bargain so I suppose I can't complain too much. But I whipped it out for play tonight only to find that the jelly seems to have dented and deformed itself on the lovely bulbous head. I had it in a pocket next to my turbo glider and I suspect with some heat and pressure, that's the culprit that did this. It has very odd dents/suctionish things on it now.

Is this prone to happen to jelly toys? Could it have been the California summer heat? I would like to prevent this from happening in the future.

But in case people are wondering, this a toy I would glady invest in again.
    • It is my experience that jelly toys just deteriorate really fast...the heat may have sped up this process though. I do know heat can cause more phthalates to leak out of jelly. It probably just kind of melted on you a little. I would have to say you should go ahead and get a new one or better yet, find a comparible toy in silicone! Silicone can be boiled so, heat shouldn't be an issue with it at all! It always sucks when one of your favorites melts.
    • Does your house get pretty warm? I've never had that problem and I live in AZ. Was it touching the turbo glider? Sounds like a toy material interaction to me.
