7 Function Venus butterfly - strap-on vibrator by Cal Exotics - review by Tori Rebel

When I received it and felt the soft, squishy TPR the butterfly is made of, I was skeptical of how effective it would be but I was pleasantly surprised. The bullet inside packs a powerful punch and runs smoothly and consistently and doesn’t go through batteries too quickly either. The butterfly itself measures 4” long and 1-1/2” wide across the wings. The black straps were also somewhat deceiving. I thought they might not stretch far enough to fit me, but they are made of a very stretchy and flexible material that I had no problem fastening around me. They also detach using snaps for cleaning or for using the toy without strapping it against your body.

The toy is controlled by a silver remote that contains 3 AA batteries, connected to the toy by a wire just under 3 feet long. The cord actually unplugs from the battery pack/remote portion which I think is pretty brilliant, and an idea that more toy designs should utilize.

The black straps fit around a woman's legs and body, placing the butterfly's vibrating parts snugly against all the right places. It can be used solo or with a partner, in any dry environment as it is not waterproof. I've thoroughly enjoyed it both ways, although the cord is a little on the short side for use with a partner. Three feet might seem like a plenty of slack, but when you’re lying down with a partner who is on the tall side, it’s easy for the toy to be tugged a little.

The best feature of this toy is the vibration speeds. The battery pack has 2 black rubber buttons, so if you have a little lube on your fingers, they won’t slip off. When you first press the right button, the toy begins to vibrate on low – but “low” on this toy is still impressively strong. Press it again for a medium vibration, and again for the highest vibration. #4 will get you to what I like to think of as a Morse code vibration – two short buzzes, followed by a longer one. #5 is an even pulsating vibration, and the 6th is an uneven pulsing, like a quick heartbeat. The last speed is my personal favorite, where it accelerates from a low to high vibration over and over again. If you press the right hand button again, the toy will go back to speed #1. If at any time you want to turn the toy off, simply press the button on the left.

These speeds all have about the same volume. A little louder than expected for the overall size of the toy, but not when you consider the bullet size. It can be concealed with the covers on and a door closed, or a stereo turned on.

My other favorite feature of this toy is how well the vibration carries through the butterfly. The nose and tail vibrate so strongly when the toy is on that you can actually see them moving at a rapid vibration (think – blurry like a hummingbird). And although the material is soft, it’s still strong enough to be felt very clearly around the clitoris. This works so well because the butterfly isn’t too big for the bullet. It’s sized just perfectly so that the vibrations reach all the areas of the toy without being lost to the rubbery construction.

While the nose of the butterfly tends to hit the clitoris just right, the tail of the butterfly will strongly vibrate near the vaginal opening and the wings really do hug the outer areas which makes it an all-over pleasurable experience. The only type of vaginal stimulation I wouldn't recommend this for is penetration, as it is not meant for that and when worn, no part of the toy really reaches inside of your body.

For those who would like to use this toy with lube, I’d recommend water based only. Although it does not say it can’t be used with silicone, I’ve heard some warnings about reactions between rubber toys and silicone lubes. So just to be on the safe side, I stick with water based so as not to risk ruining my toys. As already stated, the toy is not waterproof so keep this one in the bed – or on the couch, the floor, or the kitchen table, as long as the areas are dry. I unplug the cord from the battery pack to clean it, and use warm water and anti-bacterial soap, and I try and let it dry atop a washcloth or towel on its own because the TPR tends to pick up fuzzies if you rub a towel against it. I store it in its original package because it carefully fits both the remote and the butterfly.

Overall, I've had great experiences with this toy. Its well thought out design makes it thoroughly satisfying, and the many functions leave little to be desired. The detachable cord and straps make it easy to clean and store. If I were to change any feature of the toy, I would simply make the cord longer for when it's used with a partner.

Still consistently impressed with this toy. It's not something I use daily or reach for right away every time; but when I want something a little different and pretty amazing, I go for this one. Still highly recommended!
