If Apple made a vibrator: beautiful, simplistic, effective.

Gigi is a beautiful vibrator that's practically a piece of modern art! Although her flat head is designed for the g-spot, it worked wonders for clitoral stimulation. Unfortunately I was still unable to find my g-spot with Gigi, but I was close! I found some issues with the head catching on my pelvic bone, but with a generous amount of lube and foreplay, this toy provides a new high of pleasure.
Published: October 5, 2010
Pros:
Beautifully designed, rechargeable, quiet, flat head is amazing for clitoral stimulation.
Cons:
The handle is a bit short, angled head tends to catch on the pubic bone during removal.

Use

I bought Gigi for the sole purpose of finally finding my g-spot; unfortunately, she hasn't quite provided me that particular pleasure. However, I did find that Gigi was the best thing to touch my clitoris in a long, long time. The flat head is perfect for stimulating a large area, especially if your clit is very sensitive like mine. I did have to make sure not to use the same vibration pattern in one area for more than a few minutes, because it is possible to desensitize the area and dull the sensations of the vibe. Gigi's silicone surface worked wonders with a small amount of lube and slid around my labia fantastically.

As far as finding my g-spot was concerned, I had trouble even getting Gigi inserted into my vagina. I would expect it to be much easier for those with experience in vaginal intercourse, but Gigi's flat head becomes a disadvantage at getting the vibe past the pelvic bone. It took me a lot of lube, some careful angling, and a bit of discomfort to get the vibrator in. Getting it out was an even more difficult task (made worse because by then I was tensing up out of anxiety) and required more lube and a bit of time. You certainly don't want to be thrusting with this toy, or you will be likely to bruise your pelvic bone and discouraging yourself from trying Gigi again.

Material / Texture

When I first took Gigi out of the box, I was thrilled to roll it around in my hands and marvel at how soft the texture was. The insertable end of Gigi is made of a smooth silicone, which can create a slight drag against dry skin but is wonderful with even natural lubrication. The handle is made of a hard, sturdy plastic that is also smooth to the touch with no noticeable flaws. I didn't notice any smell associated with Gigi, though if I hold the toy up to my nose and inhale deeply, there is a slight odor reminiscent of department store elevators (weird reference, right?).

Design / Shape / Size

So far, I have a love-hate relationship with Gigi's shape. The defining feature of Gigi in relation to its fellow Lelo products is the flattened end and the g-spot curve. As far as the curvature is concerned, I would say that Gigi got it spot-on. I've played with toys in the past that attack me with almost a ninety degree angle, and others that are straight as an arrow. The flat end of Gigi is marvelous for clitoral stimulation, but I found it to hinder insertion and removal of the toy. The curved lip of the toy can catch on some women's pelvic bone and make it difficult to maneuver inside the body. My body has decided that Gigi has only two options; in or out. I can use it externally, or carefully slide it past my pelvic bone. Thrusting, however, is a painful experience and removing the toy usually takes a minute or two of careful breathing and reminding myself to relax. Gigi's overall size is fantastic, I just wish the surface area of the end was slightly smaller, or that the toy 'transitioned' smoother from the g-spot curve into the flat end.

I think Gigi's design is beautiful, and the toy is moderately easy to hide if it's kept in the bag. I simply keep it under some socks in my drawer. The travel-safe controls make it quite good for traveling, but know that if a TSA employee decides to remove this from your bag, it's very identifiable as a sex-toy. Not a great idea if you're easily embarrassed or you're with your parents.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy has an awesome array of functions. First of all, there are 7 different vibration levels in total. The first setting really didn't do anything for me at all, so I would say in practice you've got 5-6 vibrations you can actually use for something. I was really pleased at how quiet the toy is, especially since I'm living in a dorm with extremely thin walls and don't need my neighbors wondering what I'm doing next door. Gigi also has 5 different vibration patterns:

1. Constant vibration _____________________
2. Long pulses __ __ __ __ __ __ __
3. Medium pulses _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
4. Short, fast pulses ...............
5. Vroom: hard to describe in punctuation, but it feels like medium pulses that build up from soft vibe to intense vibe, pause, then build up again. It sounds to me like the revving of a car (except much quieter, obviously)

Personally, my favourite settings are the constant vibe, medium pulses, and Vroom. The long pulses have breaks in between that are just slightly too long for me to stay aroused (I need constant sensation) but are great if you want to tease your partner. The short, fast pulses are a little numbing, so I don't use them much.

All of the vibration settings are conveniently located in a really cool four-button control pad interface on the handle of the toy. There's also a nifty light around the pad that will turn on when the toy is turned on or a setting is changed. Pressing down the '+' sign will start up the toy, and you can hold it down to rapidly build up to the highest speed. Pressing '-' will decrease speed, and holding it down will rapidly decrease speed to quickly turn off Gigi. I love this feature! It makes Gigi really easy to turn off in a hurry instead of cycling through a ton of settings. The '^' and 'v" settings cycle through the patterns in the order they're listed above. Be aware that no matter what pattern you have Gigi set to, if you turn the toy off and back on again it will reset to the constant vibration pattern. Another superb feature of Gigi is that it has a travel lock feature. Just hold down the center of the control pad until the light turns off and Gigi will be locked. In this state, pressing any of the four control buttons will do absolutely nothing. To unlock Gigi, simply press down the entire control pad until the light turns back on.

Care and Maintenance

Gigi's insertable end is made from silicone, so it can easily be cleaned with soap and water or ten percent bleach solution. Since I'm in a communal living situation, I love being able to wash down my toys in the comfort of my own room with some hot water, soap, and a small towel. If you plan to share Gigi with a partner, it's always a good idea to use a condom. Technically it would be safe to share if the toy has been completely disinfected, but this is best done by boiling which is NOT an option for the Gigi as it has electrical and plastic components. The silicone surface tends to pick up lint, so it's a good idea to brush it off with your hands after cleaning, as well as before use. I store Gigi in its drawstring pouch as another lint deterrent, as well as to keep it separated from other toys.

When choosing lube, never use silicone-based lube with a silicone toy! The two will tend to react, and you will basically melt Gigi and render it unusable. You could technically use silicone lube if you're using a condom, but we all know how messy lube can get! Be safe rather than sorry and pick up some water-based lube instead.

An important note about Gigi is that it is "water-resistant". The silicone end will do just fine in water and other fluids, but you need to watch out for the plastic end, especially the charger slot. Make sure to keep the little rubber stopper in the charger slot when Gigi is not on charge, and don't get it too wet. Certainly don't submerge it! This is not a toy for use in the shower or any other body of water.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

I think Lelo has officially spoiled me as far as product packaging is concerned. I had heard good things, but wow! Gigi arrived first in a very plain brown box. I had had my doubts about EF's discreet packaging guarantee, especially since my package had to go to a dorm mailroom before reaching my hands, but it was indeed impossible to know what was in that particular box. Once I got it up to my room, I opened the package to find a beautifully simple box that matched the colour Gigi that I ordered (deep rose). The back of this outside sleeve had a high resolution photo of Gigi, along with a few product specifications. Once the outside packaging was open, I found a similarly stamped "LELO" black box inside. The box divides into two halves, and taking off the top I saw my Gigi comfortable nestled inside a plastic molding. By this time, I was wondering exactly where the instructions and the charger were- but lo! they were hidden underneath the cool display shelf for my Gigi. I found comprehensive user instructions, a charger, a small book of Lelo's latest products, and a soft white silk drawstring bag. If Apple were to make sex toys, this is how beautiful and simple their packaging would look. This package could be used as a fantastic gift, and also for storage, though I chose to use the drawstring bag. I still kept the box though! It's so fantastic for storing the charger and the instructions, not to mention I can put everything back in it when I move.

Follow-up commentary
I still really like Gigi, even though I still haven't had any G-spot luck. This toy continues to work wonders on my clit, and I've found the perfect position and pressure to keep me on edge! I've even tried it out on my partner's f-spot (the frenulum) and he absolutely loves it. I've also gotten a bit better at pushing out with my pelvic muscles to avoid bruising my pelvic bone trying to get the toy out. I haven't even had to charge it yet, though I'm sure it's going to need it soon.

I loved the title of your review. Very informative, but it sounds like the inability to use this as a thrusting toy is a huge con. At least, for me it would be. Some of the other reviews said that this toy is for those with a shallow g-spot; you might want to try something deeper?

actually though i'm working on my review right now- yes for internal stimulation it was a bit uncomfortable unless i rocked it against my pubic bone. I can only take like 4 max 5 inches inserted and though i was initially drooling over the shape on the tip it felt the same as when you're having sex and your cervix gets bruised- except it wasn't against my cervix. its quite hard and has little give to it though the silicone is quite nice. I used it more on my clit and she seemed to enjoy the vibrations(shrug)

I think it works pretty well for this purpose. I use it simultaneously with a dildo all the time. Is it the best for this purpose? I would say you'd be better off using a smaller vibrator such as the Lelo Siri which is another personal favorite of mine during piv sex. Although it is pretty easy to use the Gigi. Works in all positions where your body isn't completely pressed against a surface or your partner's body. You'll need to give a little space in between you and your partner to fit the toy but it still works really well.

  • Lelo Gigi - Using a Condom or Not
    • I have recently bought the Gigi vibrator from LELO.

For my first use, I used a condom to cover the Gigi (the brand I used is Lifestyles Studded). After removing the condom, I noticed that the lubricant, from the inside the condom, left a kind of oily residue on the Gigi. I tried to use my toy cleaner to remove it, but I am slightly worried

I am worried that the lubricant from this condom is not water-based. Now, I have a few questions that I was unable to research answers to.

      1) Was the condom I used water-based?
      2) Have I ruined my new Gigi?
      3) Is it best to use a condom on the Gigi or not?

Any advice/help will be much appreciated.

      - Dr. Manhattan
    • From what I can find via Google, it looks like the lubricant in that condom isn't a silicone lubricant so it should be okay.

Lubricant Ingredients: Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Phenonip, Carbomer

I don't think you're ruined anything. If you're concerned you might want to try to find a different type of condom that leaves less residue. I have no suggestions because almost all condoms irritate me and since I'm fluid bonded with my partner we don't use them.

What would you recommend to clean the Gigi? I currently have a toy cleaner called "Swiss Navy."

Will using soap and water be bad for the Gigi? At least just for the silicone part of the vibrator?

    • Is the product worth the price ????
    • I'm pretty sure we answered a similar set of questions about the pros and cons of expensive vibrators.
    • Quote: Is the product worth the price ????
Absolutely!! I bought mine a couple years ago after (literally) melting my previous one. Between the cost of having to replace my vibrators and the batteries constantly, I went for it and have no regrets!! Gigi is a regular part of our sex life! However, I use it only for cliteral stimulation (which works for me) so I can't speak if you are interested in G-spot usage.
The one drawback is I've found that I tend to hit the speed controls during use. Otherwise, the warranty is great (though i've never had one problem with it), it's easy to keep clean and store, and I LOVE that it's rechargable.
      Enjoy!

I highly recommend the Gigi for G-spot play. It's firm enough to stimulate it with the amount of pressure needed, but velvety enough to not be too much. Additionally the vibration settings I found to be ideal for pressing against my G-spot. Just have a towel ready!
    • Quote: I'd like to try a g-spot vib, but i dont know if this should be the one to buy...Any comments?
I would recommend the Gigi for g-spot play. I will point out though that if you have a g-spot that is on the further side in terms of depth in the vagina, or if like me your vaginal canal has a sharp curve to it then you should look for a toy that is longer than the Gigi. I love the Gigi as a clitoral vibrator but based on my anatomy it didn't do much for me as a g-spot stimulator. Take your anatomy into consideration before you buy a toy for g-spot play. If you are like me and think you'll need a more lengthy toy try the G-Spot Pink glass stimulator. I'm currently working on a review for that toy and it is a personal favorite of mine.

    • FiredrakeNemmy
So uh, my gf lives across the pond in England and I wanted to get a little something to bring her next I go visit.

She really likes the use of the Gigi vibrator but I'm worried about the charging of the toy, I learned to be wary of such things when I blew out the power to my Wii :X

But anyways, if anyone who has one could kindly take a look at the allowed voltages I would really appreciate it. The voltage info can usually be found on the charger itself ( a bunch of random numbers and such and has that UL logo ) Does it list the Input as 100V-240V or just something around 100V?

      Thanks!

They're good for 100-240V. I charged mine while living abroad just fine.
    • The charger I have with mine has the 100V-240V range.

You might also look at getting a charger specifically for using the Gigi in England.

    • My 22nd birthday is coming up which means birthday monies <3 I'm trying to see if I can orgasm with my gspot but haven't had any luck. I've been close but no beans yet. I'm debating getting this to see if it'll work for me, plus I'm trying to go off birth control, it's made my sex drive completely dissappear after 2 years of being on it, not to mention making me depressed, moody, etc.

Anyway, would this be recommended? Where's the vibration, though? More in the shaft towards the buttons or more at the tip? And is it plenty strong? (I need strong vibrations.)

I'll have to order at a time my dad won't be home, though, and make sure it arrives when he's at work--how embarassing it'd be for me for him to find out I have toys!

  • is the gigi a good starter g-spot vibe?
    • My friend Lee's birthday is coming up and ever since I told her about female ejaculation and what it is and that I can do it, she's been trying to find everything about it and is really interested in a g-spot vibrator, but she doesn't really like the way most vibrators feel with vibrations. To her, they feel like an "Oh, there's something vibrating in my ladyparts but it's doing nothing for me." So, my question is, is the Gigi different in that sense that the vibrations have some "variety" to them and they're not so monotonous? I'd love to get her the Gigi for her birthday and have heard nothing but great things about it.

Miss KissThis totally beat me to the punch! If it has to vibrate and you want to be able to use it for clitoral stimulation, Gigi is great. But if you're on a lower budget and only want g-spot stimulation, the Ella is one of this forum's favorite dildos.

  • Best G-spot vibrator. Which one to pick?
    • Rachell25
LELO has presented a couple of very well designed G-spot vibrators, like Gigi, Liv and Elise, lately. Just looking at them makes me feel horny. They all have great features and different vibration modes and they are also rechargeable, so I can safe my money on batteries.
Gigi seems to be the toy of my dreams due to its well pronounced curved tip. I guess that will lead to a better contact with my G-spot.
Any ideas, suggestions, tips? Anything will do.

PS: Will Gigi make me squirt???
    • Rainbow
Wow... that looks really splendid, in fact, all of them do.
It looks like it's going to be my G-spot's best friend for ages.

That must be a bargain but it is kind of expensive for me at the moment but as soon as I can afford one I will surely have one in my toy box.
    • Siren
My dear, not every woman is able to "squirt", it depends on every woman's physiology but it is definitely going to send you to Seven's Heaven of Pleasure.
I own one, the Liv, and it's just terrible, in the good meaning of the word.
I can assure you, you made a perfect choice if you're looking for G-spot stimulation.
