While the Pocket Rocket Jr. is perfect for beginners, but it's also a vibe I'd recommend anyone having on hand. It's economically priced, waterproof, discreet, easy to use, and effective.

Pros:
Very discreet, simple to control, waterproof, phthalate-free, ideal first vibe
Rocket-style vibrators are typically used for clitoral stimulation. The Pocket Rocket Jr. is even smaller than the standard rocket/lipstick vibe, so it's ideal for use during intercourse and the powerful single-speed motor is great for basic solo play. Another way to enjoy this toy is during foreplay to tease and tickle other erogenous zones. Due to the small size, it's best used externally, as there's hardly any length to insert vaginally and the lack of a flared base makes anal use totally off limits.
The Pocket Rocket Jr. is made out of smooth, hard plastic, with no detectable odor or taste. There is a removable rounded cap and the tip underneath is flat, with 3 slightly raised bumps (I believe the regular size Pocket Rocket has 4). This vibe can be used either with the cap on or off, depending on personal preference. The modest size and smooth surface make it ideal to anyone new to sex toys.
Measuring only around 2 inches in length, I would say this is the perfect size for beginners, and the shape isn't the least bit intimidating. The vibe has 3 tiered sections that gradually increase in diameter, the top being the widest at around 3/4 of an inch. There is also a handy cord attached to the bottom of the battery compartment cap, which is great for easy carrying.
The single speed is strong enough to get the job done, but not intense enough to be overwhelming. I personally love the design. The tip is just the right size to provide targeted stimulation, but still covers enough area so that it hits the spot even while used during intercourse. (When using more pointy-tipped vibes, I often have a hard time keeping the vibration on my clitoris during sex, probably because of all the moving around since it's not an issue when I use those toys on my own.)
The rounded cap is smooth and, if left on, it will soften the vibration slightly. I usually begin with the cap, and then I have to option of removing it if I feel a need for a bit of texture or stronger sensation. Another great thing about the Pocket Rocket Junior is how discreet it is. A toy this size is ideal for travel and very easily hidden.
This toy could not be any easier to control. With just the single speed, the bottom simply twists clockwise from the "off" to "on" position. Turning it back counter-clockwise opens the vibe for convenient battery replacement. Occasionally, if my fingers are slippery or I'm just having a clumsy moment, I accidentally twist it open instead of just turning it off. That is the only drawback I've had with the design. I really don't consider it to be a problem and not sure if it's even worth mentioning.
If I could change anything about this toy, I would have it take a more standard size battery, like AAA, instead of an N. I know N size batteries aren't hard to come by, but they're not as commonly used; so I'm not in the habit of keeping them on hand. However, I am impressed with the battery life expectancy for the Pocket Rocket Jr. One N size battery keeps it going for a long time.
The motor is located right in the middle and is easily visible since the plastic is somewhat translucent, even in the color models. The vibration doesn't have very far to go and is felt pretty evenly all over the vibe and easily travels to top. Not only is it a discreet size, but it's also nice and quiet.
Since it's made of non-porous plastic, the Pocket Rocket Jr. cleans up easily with soap and water and is compatible with any lube you like to use. Storage is no problem. There's always room in the toy box for a vibe this size.
The Pocket Rocket Junior comes packaged in a clear plastic pouch. This form of packaging is adequate, but definitely wouldn't do for storage or as a gift. I'd recommend a little box for that. The packaging is discreet in size, but you can see the toy through the wrapper.
The Pocket Rocket Jr. was one of my first vibrators and I fondly remember the day it arrived in the mail. I unpacked it and, thrilled that the battery was included, I immediately put it between my legs to see what it felt like. I must have been excited to try it because even through my clothes I had a clitoral orgasm within minutes. It has had a happy home in my bedside table drawer every since. Well, except for when I'm using it, that is.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it2 months after original review
My Pocket Rocket Junior is still going strong. I have quite a few little bullets and rocket-style vibes now, and this one is still one of my favorites even though it only has the one speed because it's very dependable and gets the jobs done. It's also the perfect size for me to use whenever, wherever, and it doesn't get in the way during partner play no matter what position I'm in. Considering what I paid for it and how long I've had it, I'm impressed with its durability.

Thanks for the comments! It's just so easy, you know? Like if you're at a crucial point, this one is a no brainer. Just twist it on and go.
