It's Fine, But...

As far as rabbit vibrators go, this one is fine. It works well and reliably and it also provides an excellent orgasm. There are, however, some pretty serious drawbacks in terms of form and function. The Impulse Dolphin may do the job, but there are also a number of rabbit vibrators that do the job equally well and without being handicapped by cheap materials and a seriously unpleasant plastic odor.

The Impulse Dolphin feels awesome. It’s an excellent length, I love the width, and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do – provide an outstanding orgasm quickly and easily.

That having been said…

Adjusting the speed of the rotation and vibration was more difficult than I would have liked it to be. The buttons need to be pushed firmly and they are close enough together that it’s easy to hit the wrong one. This isn’t a problem before inserting the toy, but it does put a damper on the fun if you’d like to make adjustments while it’s inserted.

The vibrations and rotation are powerful, but there’s also a lack of nuance – the vibrator on the highest setting feels pretty similar to the vibrator on the lowest setting. The same applies, albeit to a lesser extent, to the rotation. If you like strong vibrations and fast rotation, this isn’t a concern. If you prefer to start slow and work your way up or just keep it slow, this vibrator is a poor choice.

There is a noticeable decline in power when using the vibration and rotation functions at once, but not to the extent that the toy is no longer fun and functional.

There are a few things that detract from the toy without limiting its functionality. The plastic battery casing is poorly made. The silver paint has begun to come off after little more than a week’s use. The black faceplate for the indicator lights popped off the moment I took it out of the case. I glued it back on easily, but who wants to have to deal with that?

The last of the irritating little details came with a bit of false advertising. The box claims to have a removable battery holder that inserts into the base. That’s not the case. You have to insert the batteries directly into the base. It’s not difficult to do, but even so… why say on the packaging that the product has a feature that it clearly doesn’t?

The one big thing that I genuinely disliked about the Impulse Dolphin is the smell. I have never had a toy with such a strong plastic smell. It lingers on my skin and, when combined with my vaginal secretions, becomes unpleasantly pungent. Using the vibrator with a condom would probably minimize the problem, but I honestly can’t be bothered with it. While I use condoms with my partners, I don’t particularly like them and I certainly don’t want to bust them out when masturbating.

Although the Impulse Dolphin isn’t waterproof, I had no problem cleaning the toy with soap and water. I was careful not to submerge the battery case under water, but it can certainly withstand a few splashes.

Because the material is so porous and there is such a noticeable plastic smell to the Impulse Dolphin vibe, it would be a good idea to use condoms with the toy. If you decide to share then condoms become an absolute necessity.
