Key Io - vibrator kit discontinued by Jopen - review by Lioncub

The Key Io is part of the new Jopen Key Line of toys. The Io is a clitoral stimulator; it is bigger than an average bullet but smaller than traditional vibrators. This toy should not be used anally as there is no flared base to it. I did not find that it was big enough to do anything for me when inserted vaginally and did not work for a G-spot toy either. You can use this toy for nipple stimulation or on other zones that you enjoy a little vibration. This stimulator can be used by couples or for solo play, with this particular stimulator I preferred solo play. This toy can be used by beginners or more advanced; though I would consider it to be more of a beginner's toy.

The Bullet part of this stimulator is made of ABS plastic which rates an 8 on the Eden's Safety Scale. ABS Plastic is non-porous and phthaltes free. The 2 sleeves that come with the bullet are made of Silicone which rates a 10 on the Eden's Safety Scale. Silicone is hypo-allergenic, phthaltes free, and latex free.

The plastic of the bullet feels thin and that it could break easily if dropped. It is smooth and has no seams that I could detect. This is a very rigid bullet and has no give at all to it.

The Silicone sleeves are a velvety, soft material. One is smooth, while the other one has nubs on the sides of it. The nubs are small and soft, I could feel them, but they did not add much as far as the extra stimulation I was hoping for. Both sleeves would be appropriate and not overwhelming to a beginner. The sleeves are flexible by themselves and offer a little cushion to the rigidness of the bullet.

The power button is made of stainless alloy.

I did not notice any smell coming from the package when I opened it.

I did not need to use lube with this toy, if you do you can use any lube with the plastic vibrator but with the sleeves you should not use silicone lube as it may cause a reaction.

The vibrator part of this toy is approx 4 inches in length with a circumference of approx 3 inches; this size does go up about 1/8 of an inch when a sleeve is added. This toy has a rounded end and a flat top where the button is. The sleeves follow the same shape, they only cover about 3/4 of the vibrator; leaving the other exposed as plastic. I did not notice a real difference except that when the plastic touched skin it was a cooler sensation.

This toy is not fully insertable, I would say about 3 inches of it is, so that you have something to hold on to. The overall size makes it great for travel, though I would recommend removing the battery so it does not accidentally get turned on.

This toy does not scream vibrator but most people will know what it is. You can quickly hide it in a couch cushion or under your pillow.

A simple turn of the end cap to insert 1 AA battery is all it takes to get you ready to use this toy. Replace the end cap and a slight touch of the button has you in business. You can cycle through the 5 functions by pushing this same button; when you are ready to power it off simply hold the button down for a few seconds. I noticed with mine it was anywhere between 3 and 5 seconds, not the same each time. This toy does not memorize what function you were on, if you accidentally push the button you will need to cycle through them all again to get back to where you were.

The five functions are:
* a steady vibration
* fast pulsating
* escalating
* pulsating
* two longer pulses followed by two shorter pulses

This toy is waterproof as long as the seal is in place and the cap screwed on tightly. If using in water with a sleeve on it, I would recommend immediate removal of the sleeve when finished.

Both plastic and silicone are easy care for. They can be cleaned with water and soap, wipes, toy cleaner, or a bleach solution of 10%. When cleaning the sleeve with the nubs be sure and clean thoroughly around each one. Make sure the pieces are fully dry before you store them. Storage is simple as this toy comes with it's own pouch bag to keep everything in.

I was excited to get the Io as I have heard great things about Jopen toys but do not like rabbits. I have to say it did not live up to the hype and left me sorely disappointed.
