Magic Rabbit? I think not!

With its multi-functions, waterproofing and enough power to offer mind blowing orgasms when it fits the user correctly this toy is a fairly good example of what I have come to expect from the more inexpensive rabbits.
A different material would be nice but this can be addressed with toy covers and condoms. It's a tad intimidating and not for beginners or women who can't handle size but it's got some oomph and plenty of promise. It just wasn't the toy for me.

Use

The name says it all with this one. This is Cal Exotics’ Waterproof Jack Rabbit. It is intended for vaginal use only and personally I’d be hard pressed to find a time that I’d want this anywhere near my backdoor, flared base or not (this rabbit does not have one). This toy is a bit anatomy-specific as I have found many rabbits to be and unfortunately I am not a match. It has a decent girth and was bit hard to bend into a comfortable position when inserted so for me it just felt like it was rubbing in all the wrong places.

The multiple speeds and vibration strengths added to being waterproof makes for a vibrator with plenty to offer to the right woman. This is definitely the kind of toy that may be wonderful for more experienced users, especially people who typically find this type of rabbit a comfortable fit.

Since it's waterproof, the rabbit can be used in both the shower and submerged bath situations. It should be fine for multi-person household situations as long as a door was closed and possibly a TV or radio are on.

I can't recommend this rabbit to people who are just now finding toys due to the strength of the vibrations and the size of the toy. It's a bit wide for someone new to toys in general and there is some texture on the underside of the shaft that may be a tad overwhelming for those less used to nubs and ridges.

Material / Texture

This rabbit is made of what the sex toy industry likes to call Jelly. This material is rated at a 2 on Eden's safety scale and is personally not a material of choice. If you haven't done any research on it I'll give you a quick update but I suggest further research on your own.

It is believed that most if not all jelly toys contain things called phthalates. Used for the purpose of softening the base rubber or PVC and making the item more flexible, phthalates have been linked to quite a few disturbing health issues. I would highly recommend that people use condoms or toy covers on any toys that may contain phthalates if they do decide to use them. Latex is also sometimes present in this material so people with latex allergies should be careful when handling jelly toys.

The rabbit's insertable shaft and clitoral arm feel smooth on my hand but there can be drag if it is inserted vaginally without proper lubrication. I can’t really say there is any additional stimulation added by the material itself though, that has been left more to design. When stored at room temperature I found it to be surprisingly cool to touch but it did warm up fairly quickly in use. Some of this could have been due to friction in my case but I couldn’t say for sure.
I did notice a rubber smell when I opened rabbit for the first time but it wasn’t a complete assault on my sinuses. Luckily it did seem to dissipate after the rabbit had sat in the fresh air for a few days. There is not much of a rubber taste but I would not advise putting this product in your mouth. I did it only for the purpose of the review.

Design / Shape / Size

As far as shape this stays pretty true to what one would think of as a rabbit. It has a phallic shaped shaft with several strategically placed nubs down the underside that start just below the base of the head and go to about 3” from the tip of the toy. They form a pattern a bit like a diamond with an extra nub off to the sides

Inside of the shaft roughly 2 1/2" from the tip is a 2" long section that contains 3 rows of metal beads. Each of these rows contains 3 beads and turn either clockwise or counter clockwise giving the rabbit its rotating motion.

Although the upper 4 1/2" or so of the toy are fairly flexible when holding it with two hands, I found it much harder and down-right uncomfortable trying to flex it into position during use. This could be because the toys overall girth was too big for me, again I cannot be sure.

One thing worth noting, even though the jelly that makes up the shaft is pliable the metal balls inside of it are not so there’s really no squeezing this into tight fits, if you get my drift. It’s painful and I wouldn’t recommend it, at least it was for me.

The dimensions by my measurements:

over-all length: 10"
insertable length: 4 3/4" (the company quotes 5")
circumference: 5"
diameter: 1 5/8"

The best household size comparison I could find was a 1 liter bottle of pink lemonade but it's a pretty close match in height.

They decided to stick to basics with the clitoral arm shape and went with you guessed it: a rabbit. The rabbit's ears are separated so they could be placed on either side of the clitoris during use and unlike the shaft, I found these to be very flexible in all situations.

The rabbit's size isn't ideal for travel, however it is small enough to fit in a travel or carry-on bag if you just had to have it there with you. Just remember, discreet is not its middle name. It's pretty obvious that you're looking at a sex toy, so unless you want to publicly announce your love of all things naughty, you may want to avoid a baggage check if at all possible.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This rabbit has 3 different vibration settings and 3 rotational settings. However, the shaft's reverse function gives you a choice between clockwise or counter clockwise rotation, so it’s almost like having 6 different movement settings.

The control panel is located on the front of the plastic base/handle of the toy. There are 5 physical buttons on the face of the control panel: a separate up and down button for both the vibrations and rotation and the R/S button. The up and down buttons are arrow shaped and allow you to cycle through the different speeds and intensity separately, one at a time. There are 3 yellow indicator lights above each of the sets of arrows to let you know what speed you're on. The R/S button centered above the two sets of arrows will reverse the direction that the shaft is rotating.

These buttons are fairly easy to operate and reach while in use and since they control the functions separately, they can be put together into any combination your heart desires. Depending on how the rabbit is gripped, the buttons could potentially be palmed and accidentally changed, but that is normally the case when buttons share space with the handle of a toy.

The vibrations were probably my favorite thing about this toy. Located in the base of the clitoral arm, the egg that's behind the vibrations was strong enough to put out vibrations that traveled through the body of the toy well enough to be clearly felt in the head of the toy at the lowest setting.

On the lowest intensity the vibrations rank somewhere around a 2 on the vroom scale with a buzz rating to match while on its highest setting they both sit at a 3. The rotations are supposed to have 3 different speeds, and while I did notice it sounding faster, the speed change wasn't as noticeable. Even with the audible speed change the rotations are definitely the quieter of the functions, at a 1 buzz on the lowest and maybe, MAYBE, a 3 buzz on the highest. However, if you put both the vibrations and the rotations together and crank them up you will be sitting on a steady 4 on both the vroom and buzz scale.

When testing the waterproof feature of the toy I left it running for a period of time, 20 minutes or so, both fully submerged and with a constant heavy stream from the shower head on it. It kept right on going in both instances and had no problems with any water getting anywhere it wasn't supposed to, although I would imagine if the cap was not closed properly the toy could be damaged to the point of not working.

Although it didn't go through the batteries immediately this toy will inevitably use a good bit of power. The 3 AA batteries, not included, are held in the plastic base of the toy underneath a twist cap. Once you remove the cap you will find a removable compartment that holds the three batteries, two on one side and one on the other. The batteries must be in this holder in order for the toy to work because of the corresponding contact points inside of the base.

Care and Maintenance

Jelly toys, much like those made of silicone and TPR, cannot be boiled and since jelly is porous in nature it can't truly be sterilized. Toy sterilizing wipes and/or washes would be recommended as well as washing in warm soapy water.

This toy should be stored in a warm dry place. Some of these synthetic toys react badly to one another, even melting from contact in more extreme cases. For that reason as well as for sanitation purposes, I recommend keeping them from touching any other toy whose material you may be unsure about. Storing in a plastic Ziploc bag will work if you didn't keep or don't want to use the original packing. Felt or fabric pouches could be used but jelly toys do tend to collect lint.

The toy itself can be used with both water and silicone lubricants but if you are using a condom or toy cover I'd recommend you check that packaging for their approved lubricant as well.

Packaging

The packing on this toy appears to be straightforward. It's made of recyclable plastic that is folded into an easy open shell. There is a paper insert that sits inside of the packaging behind the toy and this is where you will find all the useful information.

On the front:

At the top it reads: "Waterproof Jack Rabbit, "The Original", Better Thank Ever!" with the Cal Exotic logo beneath it. There is a little picture of the rabbit at the bottom that says "waterproof" with "Multi-level rotating metal beads", "independent rotation and vibrations" and "use in or out of the water" bulleted next to it.

On the back: They have the same "Waterproof Jack Rabbit, "The Original", Better Thank Ever!" on the top part of this side. A picture of the rabbit is located to the left with different functions bulleted and arrowed on the device. I will not cover them all as they have already been covered on the review.

At the very bottom of the back section has a copyright section with information but if you read this part carefully you will come across a part that reads "This product is intended for use as a novelty product only".

This is something that is present on a surprising number of sex toys and is normally a good indicator that those phthalates and other possible harmful ingredients that I mentioned earlier may be present so be careful when you see this on packaging. It is not normally printed in big bold letters but in a manner more similar to this toy.

The packaging isn't discreet at all so unless you want a candid conversation about sex toys with your company I'd recommend keeping it out of site. It does makes a decent storage container if you are looking to keep your toy from making contact with other toys in a larger storage container but it's not the most compact so if size is a problem keep that in mind.

Personal comments

There weren’t any instructions so it's assumed the buyer will know how to use this toy but just in case you do need instructions:

First make sure your toy is clean and has batteries,
Apply lubrication to yourself and your toy,
Insert shaft into vagina and turn on or turn on then insert.
If you are just starting out with rabbits I would recommend getting the shaft inserted and positioned before turning on the toy.

Experience

I have been looking for a good rabbit that's friendly to my anatomy for a few years and I’m sad to say that so many are similar in all the ways that make them a poor match for me. I'm not a huge fan of the material but I was willing to give this one a shot. I would gladly deal with a condom or toy cover if I could find a rabbit that worked without feeling like it was literally rubbing or ripping me.
So is this the one, the magic rabbit I’ve been looking for? Well, to put it shortly no. Although this seems to be a sound product, I might as well have left it in its rabbit hole because odds are it won’t be frequenting mine. The girth made insertions painful and I found it very difficult to get everything positioned comfortably. Once everything was more or less where it needed to be I turned it and while the ears did feel amazing, the shaft felt more like it was rubbing me raw then offering pleasant strokes.

While women who can handle products with girth and who like rabbits similar to this might find this to be exactly what they were looking for, for me it was another no go.

Excellently detailed review! I'm sorry this didn't work out for you. This was one rabbit I had looked at a while back and passed up. I would recommend the Black Label Jack Rabbit, but that still might be a bit girthy for you.
