Magical Mystical Princess Power Wand

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable is a cuter, greener version of its battery-operated predecessor. With a nice range of vibrational patterns and a power button that doubles as an "emergency off" function, it lasts a fairly long time on a single charge. Thought not waterproof, it can be taken nearly everywhere else. Great as a gift for a good friend or as a splurge on yourself, the Mystic Wand Rechargeable is a good investment for anyone interested.

Deep vibrations, pretty lights, easy to hold
Cons:
Lack of instructions on charging, not exactly quiet

Use

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable is similar to the original Mystic Wand in size, appearance and function with one exception: Whereas its predecessor required four AA batteries to run, the hot pink Mystic Wand Rechargeable is...well, rechargeable. When fully charged, this cute massager delivers six functions across a reasonable range of intensities controlled through two buttons, one of which is a power button that can be considered an "emergency off" button as well. Its versatile vibrations coupled with the rounded head on a flexible silicone neck make the Mystic Wand Rechargeable a great massager for anyone interested.

Like most massagers of its type, the Mystic Wand Rechargeable can be used for all-over external stimulation. It is fantastic for regular massage on sore shoulders and back muscles as well as for more intimate uses. This rechargeable massager is not designed for insertion, and it is not waterproof.

Material / Texture

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable is made of completely odorless silicone and plastic. From the looks and feel of it, the outside of the massager seems to be coated in a layer of velvety silicone, from the contours of the massager's head to the flexible plug that protects the charging port when not in use. The handle, neck, and head of the massager are rigid when squeezed, leading me to believe that the interior casing of the massager is plastic. Please note that while pure silicone toys can be boiled for sanitation purposes, an electric toy such as this should not be subjected to such high temperatures, whether in a boiling pot or in a dishwasher. First of all, it is not waterproof. Secondly, the electrical components could be damaged by the heat. For recommendations on cleaning, please see "Care and Maintenance", below.

The silicone exterior is very velvety and pleasant to the touch. It produces very light drag when drawn across skin. A little water based lube may be added if the friction is found to be too much. The top of the approximately cylinder-shaped head is smooth and rounded, while the sides are ridged in a toothed fashion (as opposed to smoother, rounded ribs). These ridges, when rubbed against the clitoris, provide more intense stimulation in addition to the vibrations. The texture is not too intense, and can be enjoyed by all but the most sensitive of sex toy users, whom may prefer to use the smooth area of the vibrating head exclusively.

Design / Shape / Size

The shaft or handle of the Mystic Wand Rechargeable should fit comfortably in most hands. It is on the heavier side of average, being only slightly heftier than a traditional vibrator but not so heavy that it causes the wrist to tire after prolonged use, as can be the case with other massagers. The massager is not awkward or chunky in shape, instead looking rather streamlined and cute. It is small and discreet enough to be taken on a weekend getaway. Simply charge it up and go!

The shape of the massager is easily described in three portions. The handle and the head, both already discussed above, and the neck that connects them. The neck of the massager is rather flexible, though not floppy thanks to its plastic skeleton. This feature allows the head to be bent at an angle for maximum accuracy when looking for your magic spot(s) without painfully bending your wrist to compensate for a stiff massager.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable has two buttons which control six functions. Two lights, one large and one small, reveal the status of the toy. The bottommost button is the power button. A single click turns the vibrator on and automatically starts at the first function. Regardless of vibrational pattern, as long as the massager's power is on, the larger indicator light will glow pink. Another click of the power button turns the massager off, anytime, anywhere. "Emergency off" is a great feature to have on any vibrator when you live with roommates, family, or just want to keep your pleasure a secret to whomever is barging into your room.

The other button, marked with an "F", clicks through the functions when the massager is on. There are a total of six functions, which "F" will cycle through, 1-6, and then start back at the first one again. Unfortunately, it cannot scroll backwards, so if you miss the function you wanted, the quickest way to get back to it is to turn the massager off, then turn it back on again and scroll to the function you wanted from the beginning. The smaller indicator light will change color or flash according to which function it is on. The functions, in order, are:

1. Steady low vibration (light shines green)
2. Steady medium vibration (light shines orange)
3. Steady high vibration (light shines red)
4. Low pulse (flashing--alternates between red and orange)
5. Two quick pulses followed by a longer pulse (two orange flashes followed by a red flash)
6. Escalation from low to high, and repeat (flashing green to orange to red)

The strength of the vibrations spans a decent range. The low vibration is not as subtle as the lowest settings on some other vibrators, but should not be overpowering for those sensitive to vibrations. The highest vibration should also be sufficient for all but those who possess "clits o' steel". These vibrations are deeper and "thuddy", more suited to relaxing massage than "buzzy" surface vibrations. While this type of vibration may not be suitable for all users, it has the benefit of not producing the numbing, overstimulated sensation that "buzzy" vibrations can bring about.

Despite being advertised as virtually silent, I found the sound of the massager to be quite noticeable. On low, it is comparable to a cell phone on vibrate. However, on higher intensities, the noise also rises exponentially. I asked friends sitting on the opposite side of the moderately large living room whether they could hear the massager on low in my hand, and they said that they could hear it clearly. Other users of this massager have reported it as being very quiet, however, so I suspect that it may be an issue with only my massager.

Prior to your first use of the Mystic Wand Recharger, it must be charged. The process is very simple. Simply take the included 110 V charger, plug it in to a power outlet, and then plug the charging end into the charging port, located on the bottom end of the massager. Remember to stopper the charging port with its attached silicone tab when not in use to prevent damage from fluids. While charging, the larger indicator light will slowly flash pink. When the massager is done charging, the flashing will stop. Due to lack of instructions included with the product, I do not know whether overcharging will damage the massager, but have not yet detected any negative affect on the toy from leaving it plugged in for a little longer than necessary. The massager may not be used while being charged. A single charge lasts a long time. I have had my Mystic Wand Rechargeable for a few weeks now, and it is still running fine on its first charge.

Care and Maintenance

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable is not waterproof, so please keep it out of the shower and bath. It should be used with water-based lubrication due to its silicone covering. To clean, warm water and soap should do the trick.

The massager comes with its own drawstring storage pouch, perfect for protecting your massager from everything else in your toy box. Simply wash, dry, and pop into the velvety white pouch until the next time you pull it out for a relaxing massage or sensual playtime.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

While the massager comes with instructions, they are very generic and say nothing about the Mystic Wand Rechargeable specifically. There is no information about using the recharger, how long it takes to charge, or how long the charge should be expected to last. This was a bit inconvenient, but by no means a deal breaker.
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

I am always on the lookout for the next best vibrating apparatus to use on my clit, so this massager was a welcome addition to my collection. I love pulling it out for quickies or for teasing myself before moving onto another toy. Unfortunately, one of my favorite things to do is to pair vibrations on my clit with a filling toy inserted vaginally, and this massager isn't the best choice for this sort of stimulation. The head is quite large and I like to use the edge of it on my clit. This means that the rest of the head is blocking the entrance to my vagina, so it's hard to thrust with a toy without bumping repeatedly into the wand and... let's just say it leads to frustration and sometimes disaster. The Mystic Wand Rechargeable just doesn't like to share with other toys, I guess. For the same reason, we found it not very satisfactory for use during partner sex. On its own, though, this massager is wonderful.

It may seem superficial, but one of the things that made me fall in love with this massager even before I used it for the first time were the lights. The pink and white exterior of the massager paired with blinking pink, green, and red lights are just so festive... it's hard to not love the appearance! Sometimes I charge down the hallway, massager in hand, scaring the cats out of their wits.

Great review, had just what I was looking for (Descriptions of the vibration settings). I have my eye on this one, I was to try out a wand and I think this is the one I'll be choosing. I'll probably wait for a sale, as it's a /little/ outside of my current price range, but I want it. I want it baaaad.

  • Pink or black mystic wand?
    • Which do you prefer? Does the pink one get marked easily?
    • I would go with the pink one.
    • I'd go pink as well. Granted normally one should clean after use anyways, but the black would show more and the pink just in general looks better.

  • I Wish.......
    • I wish the major wands were all reviewed in one video side by side. Include important information such as: cord lengths (when applicable), charging information. Whether there is a variable speed -vs- high/low setting only. Head sizes, weights, noise levels. It's time someone takes this on.

I'll do it! I have been wondering this myself. Would be nice to see a full on side by side by side review

  • Sex and the City?
    • Is this kind of like the sex and the city 'back massager' that Samantha used? I really liked that thing.

She used the Hitachi if I remember correctly.

Yup, it was the Hitachi that she'd gotten from Sharper Image. Sex and the City really shaped a lot of kids views on sex toys in those days!

  • Mystic Wand Rechargeable - Charging?
    • I'm hoping that someone with a Mystic Wand Rechargeable can help me out here. I just got my MWR today and plugged it in to charge. The larger indicator light just turned on pink and steady, not flashing/blinking as the reviews have described. After a couple hours, I checked to see if there was a charge. Unplugged the charger from the port (pink light goes off), then pressed the power button. The pink light flashed quickly and went off, the little indicator light flashed, too (green? I think?), but there were no vibrations.

Figuring it hadn't been charging long enough, I left it in for a few more hours. When I checked it again, I got the same result. Then I left it in for about seven additional hours. That's got to be long enough, I thought. Nope. Solid pink light while "charging" but no vibes when I press the power button.

Any suggestions? The only weird thing I've noticed about the vibe is that the plug doesn't go into the vibe all the way. There is a little bit of space between the MWR and the plastic/white part of the charger connection piece.

      Help! (please)

I got my MWR last week. When it was charging the pink light was solid and then when it was fully charged - only took like 2 to 3 hrs... something like that, the pink light went off.
There should be the solid pink and a small green LED light when you turn it on (the lowest speed).
The cord on mine was a little tricky to push all the way in at first. When it's in fully, the white plastic part on the cord still didn't sit hard up against the MWR.

My only guess would be that it's maybe faulty... motor issue.
I had a similar thing happen with the Getaway Luxe I also got last week - the motor for the vibration was just dead.

One of the others may have another suggestion for you.
Sorry it's not working properly for you. I know how frustrating it is. ;(

Ha! My Getaway Pure had a bad motor, too, and I had to get a replacement. What's with us and dud vibes?

Thanks for your help on what things should look like on the MWR. I'm pretty sure this is defective.
