Use

Soraya is a luxurious rabbit style vibrator. It is rechargeable, waterproof, is made out of non porous materials, and powerful enough for most. Lelo is known for making toys that are built for a queen. A really horny queen in fact. They always provide high quality items. The size is perfect for anyone. I think this would be a perfect rabbit vibe for the beginner. Size queens and kings may find the size to leave something to be desired.
While this rabbit vibe is a luxurious toy, it is pretty basic in its functions. There are no rotations, which may turn off some people. It does have a slight G-spot curve though. Instead of rotating, the shaft vibrates. I do not really miss the rotations. A rabbit is known for stimulating two spots at once. The two spots this vibe is targeted for is the G-spot and the clitoris. It does a great job in my opinion, but those with fickle G-spots may find this toy to be lacking in the G-spot area. While a rabbit can be used with a partner, I find it to be much more satisfying as a solo toy.
This toy lacks a flared base, but the clitoral piece acts as a stopping point of sorts. If you are going to use this anally, I always suggest lube and a firm grip so that no accidents occur. The slight curve plus the firm materials may be able to rub the prostate very nicely.

Material / Texture

The Soraya is made out of silicone and plastic. The silicone is velvety and smooth to the touch. The silicone is matte, which causes the tiniest bit of drag. Lube can very easily fix that problem. Make sure to only use water based lubes with this toy. Silicone lubes do not play well with silicone toys. The plastic handle and sides of the Soraya has a metal shine to it. The transition from matte silicone to slippery plastic creates an amazing sensation when thrusting. The materials keep this toy very light, but also very sturdy. The only flexible part on this toy is the clitoral arm. Everything else, including the shaft, is rigid. Both silicone and plastic are non-porous materials. They both are taste and smell free. This vibrator has no texture besides the transition between silicone and plastic. The "Lelo" logo is on either side of the head. There is a slight seam that runs down the middle of the toy. It is visible, but I cannot feel it with my fingers or my vagina while thrusting. There is also a slight gap between the silicone and plastic. This can and has caused a lot of issues with some people, but it has not been a huge problem for me. It just means a little more detail when it comes to cleaning.

Design / Shape / Size

There are multiple parts to this toy. The first is the silicone shaft that is paired with plastic sides. The color of the plastic looks gold under some lights and silver under others. It just really depends on the lighting and the angle. There is a slight gap between the two materials, but mine seems to be very slight when compared to other reviews. The plastic sides hosts the Lelo name on both sides. This logo can be found close to the top of the shaft. The head of the shaft is blunt yet has a slight tip. The tip is great for pinpoint stimulation.

The second is the clitoral arm. When held with the light behind the arm, it can look somewhat transparent. It is very flexible. This may be a huge problem for those who require a lot of pressure. Even though the clitoral arm is flexible, it is quite firm as well. The overall size of the arm should fit right over most clits. The clitoral arm is pretty long, and has a blunt tip. This provides more of a broad stimulation than pinpoint stimulation.

The base houses the controls and the very convenient handle. The inside of the handle is made of plastic, which does create problems when your fingers are all slippery with lube. The control panel is raised, which makes the buttons easy to find in the heat of the moment. The handle is not the most ergonomic of handles, but it is better than nothing. It is a very good concept, but I wish there was a line of silicone on the inside of the handle to prevent the fingers from slipping. The bottom of the handle houses the port through which this toy is charged.

Measurements:
Total length-8 1/2"
Insertable length-5"
Length of clitoral arm-2 1/2"
Diameter of shaft-1 3/8"
Diameter of base including handle-2 1/4"
Length of the control buttons-1 1/2"
The overall size is medium in my opinion. It is very average in size. While the design is very pretty and feminine, it still looks like a rabbit vibrator. It is more discreet than most though. If you have constant prying eyes around the house, I do not suggest you leave this toy out in the open. Make sure you find a nice hiding place. I find that I cannot use this toy effectively with my husband. He likes to be rough when it comes to thrusting, and the clitoral piece can feel like a tiny sword stabbing at my junk when he does this. Even when we tried to slow things down, it just did not work for us. I use this toy strictly for solo use. As a matter of fact, we have never been able to use a rabbit vibe as a couples toy. So in the end, I cannot really fault this toy for that. The Isla would probably be better for playing with a partner.

Functions / Performance / Controls

There are three buttons located underneath the clitoral arm. The first is a minus (-) button, the last is a plus (+) button, and the middle is a pattern button that looks like (). All of the buttons are intertwined by the insignia symbol. All of the buttons are raised and are easy to push. That being said, I have never had a problem with accidentally hitting one of the buttons and therefore changing the speed or pattern.
To turn the vibrations on, hit the + button. The vibrations are steady and are located in the tip of the head and the clitoral arm. You can gradually increase the power of the vibrations by pushing the + button until it hits the desired level, or you can hold the + button to make it automatically go to the top power level. The same goes when you want to decrease the power. You can hit the - button until it decreases to the desired level, or you can hold the - button to make it shut off completely. Either way, the buttons light up whenever the buttons are pushed. When turned on, the light stays on. When the + and - buttons are held at the same time, Soraya locks. When they are held down, the light will turn on. Once the light turns off, the buttons can be released as the toy is now securely locked. To unlock the toy, hold the same buttons down until the light turns back on. This is an amazing feature when traveling with this vibe. This is also great to do before storing the toy. This way, the toy cannot accidentally be turned on.
If you want to go through the patterns, simply press the () button. Here are the patterns you get with the Soraya:
1.) Only the head of the shaft vibrates
2.) Only the clitoral arm vibrates
3.) Alternating pulses that go between the head and the clitoral arm
4.) Head and clitoral arm pulsate fast at the same time
5.) An escalating pattern (clitoral arm starts out low and deep, then shifts to the head with high and fast vibrations)
6.) An escalating pattern (head starts out low and deep, then shifts to the clitoral arm with high and fast vibrations)
7.) Chaos or random pattern shifting between clitoral arm and head
Just like you can change the level of power with the steady vibrations, you can change the level of the patterns as well. I thought this was a fantastic feature.
I feel that the head vibrations are slightly less powerful than the vibrations of the clitoral arm. The vibrations are between rumbly/deep and buzzy. They are not surface vibrations, but they are not muscle deep vibrations either. When pressure is applied to the clitoral arm, the vibrations slightly diminish. It is not enough to become annoying to me, but it might be a deal breaker for some.
There is a silicone covered charging port located on the bottom of the toy. This makes this toy waterproof. The toy did not arrive fully charged, so the first initial charge took about two hours. After that, I would say it takes about 45 minutes to charge. I have used this toy a lot, both in the shower and on the bed. I found that I can get about three 30 minute sessions before I have to recharge the toy. Granted I always use the toy on its maximum power, so those who are more sensitive may get more time out of it before it needs to be charged again. I have charged this toy numerous times, and I have noticed a slight hole in the charging port. If I poke at it, it seems to cover itself back up. While charging, the lights around the buttons will flash. Once the charge is complete, the lights will be shine steady.

Care and Maintenance

I suggest an antibacterial soap and warm water to clean this toy with. I also suggest taking your fingernail and running it along the gap between the silicone and the plastic. This way, you can be sure you got all of the trapped lube and bodily fluids. Silicone is known for being able to be boiled or thrown in the top rack of the dishwasher, but unfortunately this one cannot be treated as such. Both acts can and will melt the plastic sides and possibly hurt the motors on the inside.
For storage, I use the satin drawstring pouch that Lelo so generously supplied with the Soraya. Soraya is not a huge hair or lint magnet, but it can still attract some. You can also use the original packaging for storage, but I much prefer the pouch as it takes up less room.
I only use water based lubricants with Soraya. If you want to dare to use a silicone lube with this toy, make sure you do a patch test first. If you are sharing with a partner, be sure to cover the shaft with a condom. Be sure to also clean properly before going from anal to vaginal play.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

Lelo is known for its amazing packaging, and the Soraya toy is no different.
The outer packaging has a picture of the bottom half of the toy on the front as well as the Lelo logo. The back has a full picture of the toy. The back also has some information about the toy. The sides have the same information only in six different languages.
The inside packaging is a sturdy, black cardboard box. It is very plain and does not look like it holds a sex toy inside. The name "Lelo" is printed on the front of the box in black. You can only see it if the light shines on it just right.
The inside of the box is separated into two different compartments. The first thing you see right off the bat is the Soraya and the Insignia pin, which are nestled in a black velvety foam cutout. Below the cutout is a square compartment that is covered with a black cardboard foldover. "Lelo" is again printed on the front of the foldover. Inside the compartment are your user manual, one year warranty, satin pouch, charger, and ten year quality guarantee. All are in multiple languages.

Personal comments

I have enjoyed this toy for months now, and it still looks brand new. I have not noticed any scratches on the plastic sides or handle.
The Insignia pin looks nice from a distance, but after some time it has started to tarnish. The mechanism on the back that holds the pin in place will not lock anymore. The pin constantly falls off, so I do not attempt to wear it anymore. It has come undone and poked my breast many times, so I threw it in my jewelry box to rust and collect dust. It was a nice feature in the beginning, but it has quickly become unusable.

Follow-up commentary
This is a high quality toy, and I still think it is worth the money. However, it is only worth the money if it works for your body. I need a lot more pressure in order to get off clitorally, and the clitoral arm is way too flexible.
I traded this toy for a Jollies Jollet, which I love. It was an awesome trade, and I am so glad I did it. Otherwise, this toy would have just collected dust. Now that I know that I need pressure, so my next buy is Ina.

  • Non p-spot toys for p-spot use?
    • So am I barking up the totally wrong tree or does it seem like there are some toys that would be awesome on the p-spot, even though they might not be intended for that? When I first saw the Insignia Soraya I got really curious, but is it ill-advised to be used as a man's toy? Are there any great "crossover" toys? Maybe with really strong vibes?
    • I think you could definitely use this for prostate stimulation. It may not be intended for anal use but the clitoral stimulating arm would work well as a taint stimulator and would keep the toy from getting lost in your ass so it should be safe to use.

You do whatever you want with it. :-) I have a toybox full of "straight" toys that I enjoy for anal.

  • My Two Cents (From A Soraya Owner of 1yr)
    • (Sorry in advance for how lengthy this post is.)

Just wanted to throw in my two cents for those of you that are still contemplating purchasing the Insignia Soraya.

To date, the Soraya is the most expensive toy that I own. I don't generally splurge on toys. But, the Soraya definitely checked off all the requirements I was looking for in a dual-action vibrator -- rechargeable, waterproof, ergonomic shape, strong vibration strength, quietness. So, I figured it was well worth the investment. A year later, the Soraya is still arguably my favorite toy that I own. I want to emphasize that. However, there are certain flaws that have appeared over the course of a year that I wanted to share with you.

(The following are listed in sequential order in which they occurred.)

Gapping between metallic inlay and silicone.
      ---
From the pictures, this gap is really hard to notice. However, it became more apparent even after the toy was used once. The toy's materials (ABS plastic and silicone) are very hygienic and easy as ever to clean. Yet, the tiny crevice created where these materials join together is an entirely different story. It is nearly impossible to clean this crevice. The only thing I've found that works slightly is a thin, folded piece of paper to force out some of the debris. But, don't expect any amount of soap and water to clean this crevice. This can be especially problematic if you intend on sharing your toy. I, personally, do not share my toys. But, even still, this became a little disgusting after a while.

Flaking of the metallic coating on the plastic.
      ---
After about 6 months, I noticed a small area where the metallic coating began to flake off of the plastic, revealing a not-so-shiny white plastic beneath. The area was very tiny and perhaps not so noticeable. But, given how much the toy costs, occasional use and a cleaning of warm water and soap should not be able to flake the coating off, in my opinion. It also concerned me that the toy could possibly continue to flake off when I was using the toy.

      Hole formed over charging port.
      ---
Perhaps one of the most innovative things about the Soraya is that the toy is rechargeable and waterproof. There is a tiny pinhole in the silicone that you puncture the cable through in order to charge the toy. Yet, the pinhole is so tiny that water will not get inside the toy. Unfortunately, after about 12-15 charges, that pinhole was no longer a pinhole. Over time, tiny pieces of silicone began to fragment off where the cable had punctured. The hole, while arguably still very small, became large enough for water to get inside of the toy. It was from that point on that I didn't trust the toy as being waterproof anymore. I also had to be a lot more cautious washing the toy to make sure water didn't get inside.

      Motor malfunction.
      ---
This happened about 8 months into owning the toy and I still have no explanation as to what happened. The toy reached a point where, as long as it had some charge to its battery, there was no way to turn the toy off. Even on its lowest setting, it was operating on some sort of sub-setting that was below anything the keypad could control. There was no way to turn the toy off. No minus of the arrow would turn it off. The keypad didn't even recognize the toy as being on at all. I could turn it up. But, I could never turn it off. My only option was to wait for the battery to die completely. Then, it would finally stop vibrating. As soon as I'd go to charge the toy, within a millisecond of connecting it, the motor was locked on again with no way to turn it off. It was an endless, annoying cycle. I eventually got fed up with this and took advantage of LELO's 1-year warranty.

From the minute I purchased the Soraya, it was like an investment for me. And once I received the toy, I always took excellent care of it. I always monitored the toy when it was charging to make sure it didn't overcharge and fry the battery. The toy was always thoroughly cleaned with soap and warm water. When not in use, it was stored in its original boxed packaging. All in all, the issues were mostly cosmetic. Yet, these issues led to problems with the overall function of the toy. Luckily, these issues happened sooner than later and I could take advantage of the warranty for the motor issue. I think I would have been a little more than irritated if I was only left to the 10-year warranty (which only gives you 50% off a new LELO toy).

Regardless of all of these issues, the Soraya was still the best toy I had ever purchased (when it was still functioning properly at least). All of my expectations were met and it was exactly what I was looking for. My point of writing this review is not to deter you from purchasing the Soraya. Chances are, it will be your dream toy. However, I wanted to inform you on the potential flaws of the toy. (This is to say that not everyone will have the same issues I have had.) Given the price and investment of the toy, I know many of you are going through the same intense decision-making process that I did. So, I just wanted to give you my two cents after owning the toy for a little over a year now.

Hopefully, you all will find at least some of this helpful. If you would like my feedback on anything else about the toy, I'd be more than happy to help.

      Happy shopping!

  • How is the Insignia Soraya at clean up?
    • I hear these toys are really difficult to clean :/
    • I've heard that, too, and it's really put me off them. :/

I do wonder if maybe there was a defect of if they've corrected it but I'd want something solid to go on before investing that much in something that could have really gross issues.
    • Quote: I hear these toys are really difficult to clean :/
It isn't very difficult to clean but, you do need to pay a little more attention to the this one as opposed to a toy that is a solid silicone toy. I described a seam between the metallic looking plastic and the silicone in my review. I just like to inspect that seem to make sure it is clean on a regular basis. Otherwise all you need is some soap and running water to clean this toy.
