Mood: This was a bad idea

The Mood Flirty is an over-sized pocket rocket with volume and settings to match, but not vibrational power or diversity. With 7 different settings that are all something unique, they all buzz on at a solid 3 vrooms and 3.5 bees. It's certainly functional, but it's not going to beat anyone's previous favorite toy for spot number one.

Pros

Use

The Mood: Flirty vibrator by Doc Johnson is a 'pocket rocket' style toy that seemed to have eaten a few too many batteries. With both a larger body and larger attachments than the standard pocket rocket, this toy is certainly interesting.

The main use is for external stimulation of the clitoris, though you could also use it on the nipples or other erogenous zones. The several different heads allow for different sensations and intensities of vibrations.

This toy can be inserted vaginally, but it's not intended for that use. While the 'tongue' like attachment may be good for teasing the entrance to the vagina, none of the heads would allow for this toy to be inserted very far without the controls becoming inaccessible.

No matter the experience of the user, this toy would not be recommended for anal insertion. This is because it doesn't have a prominent handle or flared base, so there is nothing to prevent it from potentially slipping inside of the user.

If looking for something for a full-body massage, the rounded tip that comes with this toy is actually a good bet. It's a nice size to use on the shoulders and neck, and it's smooth enough that it's not going to pull your or your partner's hair.

If you're looking for a toy to introduce into a relationship, this would be an all right choice. The nice materials, low price point, and non-phallic appearance all are great reasons to look into it, though the lack of different intensities, the fairly weak vibrations, and the loud noise it makes are all reasons why it may not be for everyone.

Similarly, this would not be an ideal first toy in general. The lack of variety in intensities would more than likely leave the user wanting more or less power, especially if they had not played around with many other motorized toys.

If you live in the dorms or an apartment with others, this may not be the ideal toy. While it is easy to care for and waterproof, the loudness is really something that many people can't afford to have.

Material / Texture

The Mood Flirty is made of a combination of plastic and TPE. Plastic is very rigid and is rated an 8 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale, while TPE is rated a 6 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale and is fairly flexible. While they aren't the top of the line, these materials are still some of the better ones to look for.

Plastic is a nonporous and body safe material, meaning that bacterial can't get inside of it and thrive, as well as that it doesn't contain any nasty chemicals that can seep into your skin. It's easily disinfected with a 10% bleach solution if you want to switch orifices.

TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) is a body safe material, but is known to be slightly porous. This means that certain bacteria can live inside the surface of it, so it should not be shared between users or orifices. It's much better than jelly as a material, but it's lower quality than silicone.

The TPE covers all of the attachments, but is not found at all on the plastic body of the toy itself. This makes the plastic feel smoother and have less drag than all of the attachments, but you really can't use it on its own. Unless you like toys with a lot of drag, lube is recommended.

Overall, the materials on this toy are not the highest quality available, but they are good for people who don't intend to switch users or orifices. The drag is going to be both a pro and a con for some people, but the different designs offer something for each different user preference.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy is designed similar to most other pocket rockets, only much larger. It's easy and ergonomic to hold, and it comes with three different tips to try and see if you like them. It's certainly a unique toy that Doc Johnson came up with.

Without any attachments on it, the body of this toy measures a bit over 5 inches long. At the widest point it's 5.25 inches around, and that's just below where the attachments start. The different attachments do add different lengths to the toy.

The body of the toy is similar in shape to a baseball bat, with the wide tip and slightly flared base, but the thinner area where you are intended to hold it. There is a small, shiny plastic ring around where the base screws off, but it really doesn't create any hard to clean seams.

The first attachment to this toy is the plain, round one. It's made of a thin layer of TPE over plastic and has almost no give at all to it. It also doesn't add much length to the body. It's a more basic attachment that is surprisingly useful for massaging non-erotic areas of the body.

The second attachment is the 'rabbit' attachment. It adds about an inch to the toy in total with the ears. They are very close to each other, but not touching, and the ears are slightly bent forward at the tip. The ears are entirely TPE and are super flexible.

The most unique, and the third tip, to this toy is the 'tongue' tip. It is shaped similarly to a tongue as far as the protruding bit goes, but inside the 'cup' that the 'tongue' creates are 16 small, raised bumps. These are very interesting to use clitorally. The 'tongue' has a bit of flex to it, but not as much as the ears on the 'rabbit' attachment.

It's very easy to hold, especially if you have trouble with small, non-ergonomic toys. If someone saw this on your desk it's pretty conspicuous, so it may be the best idea to keep this away from prying eyes. Other than the moderate size, this would be fine to slip into a suitcase to travel with.

Overall, this is certainly a unique design for a toy. The different attachments all offer very different stimulation, but all are fun to try. If you're looking for variety and something that's not going to cramp your wrist this is certainly something to consider.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Mood Flirty is easy and intuitive to control, and has quite a few functions. While the power may not be enough for some women, it has lots of variety if you can stand the high noise levels.

You turn the toy on by pressing the power button, the rightmost of the two. This turns it on to the first setting. You change the settings by pressing the leftmost button, and you can turn it off at any point by simply pressing the power button again. When you turn it back on it goes back to the first setting. The settings are as follows:

1) Steady
2) BzzBzzBzzBzz
3) bzzbzzbzzbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzBBBBBBBBBBBB bb bb BB ZZZ
4) BZZ BZZ BZZ BZBZBZBZBZBZBZB ZZ ZZ ZZ ZZ ZZ ZZ ZZ ZZ
5) BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzz BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
6) bbbbZZZZ bbbbZZZZ bbbZZZZZ ZZZ ZZ
7) bzbzbzbzbzbZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Since this only has one real power setting, all of the patterns are about the same in power and noise. This toy is about 3.5 bees and 3 vrooms. It's going to be enough power for most ladies, but if you need intense vibrations this isn't going to work out too well. It's also easy to hear across the room or over the shower, and if you have a quiet house or thin walls it can be heard out side of the room it's being used in.

The vibrations are very much located in the tip of the toy, but can still be felt on the handle. When holding the bottom of the handle I didn't experience any hand numbing, but the closer to the top you hold it the more your hand gets vibrated.

The vibrations travel very well through all three of the attachments. The bunny ears do visibly 'move' with the vibrations, but they don't wiggle excessively. The 'tongue' attachment doesn't visibly vibrate, but it carries the vibrations just as well as the other two. The vibrations also could be described as being more buzzy than rumbly.

Being waterproof, you can take this toy both into the shower and tub. It has a thick o-ring around the battery compartment, so no water can get in and damage the mechanical parts. It also makes it easier to clean because you don't have to worry about getting it too wet.

Overall, the Flirty is a fairly powerful toy with a lot of different settings. As long as you don't mind the buzzy vibrations or the loud noise, this is an interesting spin on an old classic.
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Not very discreet

Care and Maintenance

The Mood Flirty is very easy to care for. The materials are both easy to clean, and since it's not meant for deep insertion there is little worry about getting 'gunk' in hard to clean areas. If you let this toy air dry and keep it in a lint-free environment you can easily get away with only having to wash it after every use. You can wash this toy with soap and water, an antibacterial toy wipe, or an antibacterial toy cleaner.

You can also disinfect this toy by wiping it down with a 10% bleach solution, but only the handle is nonporous. This means that, because of the slightly porous nature of the attachments, you still shouldn't share between users or orifices.

It's best to keep it in a cool, dark place with the rest of your toys. Both plastic and TPE are compatible with all types of toys and lubricants, so you do not have to worry if your favorite lube will be safe with it.

Packaging

The Mood Flirty comes in playful packaging, like all of the other Flirty toys. It's colorful and fun, and as far as toys go it's pretty tasteful. It's black with colored dots on it, and it just focuses on being informative.

The front states the name of the toy and brand and has a transparent area where the toy is held. It shows the different attachments and makes it easy to see what you're getting. Because it shows the toy like that it's not very discreet.

The back has several lines of colored dots, and they are filled in where they apply. This is a very easy to read and pretty way of giving the user basic information. It tells you all of the different features, the perks about the materials, the batteries it takes, care, what lubricants you can use, and the functions.

It may not be the best for storage because it's quite a bit larger than the toy. It has no lewd sayings or naked women on it, so as long as the recipient is okay with the toy itself this would be fine to wrap up and give as a gift.

Experience

While I wasn't exactly stoked to get this toy to review, I was still intrigued. I'd never had a 'pocket rocket' style toy with the different attachments, and for free I wasn't going to turn it down. Unfortunately, this may not be a good choice if you're looking for something like that.

The buzzy vibrations, and more than that the LOUD vibrations (3.5 bees), really threw me off, and the lack of power wasn't something that I feel a lot of people will like. While the functions are certainly fun to play around with, the fact that it only has one power setting really narrows their audience down by excluding sensitive ladies like myself and people who need MORE power.

The different attachments were interesting to play around with, and they certainly have me interested in getting a different pocket rocket like this one, but the less than stellar execution was a buzz kill for this product.

While trying to be objective, this is a 3 star toy. Personally? I'd give it two stars. If you're happy with the one power setting and just LOVE interesting patterns this might really rock your boat, but if you need a quiet toy, like to work up in power, or you need a little more than 'average' to get you going I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
