Not All About Looks

The Cute Baby is one of those toys that you can easily throw in your purse or pocket in anticipation of a fun evening out with your lover. Its moderate vibrations make it an excellent tool for foreplay and can add some extra stimulation during intercourse, but don't expect it to do the sexual heavy lifting that a more powerful vibrator would be capable of. If you're willing to deal with the challenging learning curve presented by the design, the Cute Baby is definitely worth a closer look.

Material / Texture

The Cute Baby is made from a rigid, smooth plastic. It is odorless and tasteless and there are no nubs or bumps to add additional texture or provide a handle to hold while using the toy.

Design / Shape / Size

The design allows the Cute Baby to fit easily in the palm of one's hand or to be held at the base with your fingers. The absence of any texture and the smoothness of the plastic means that the grip isn't always solid (especially with wet or otherwise slippery hands), but that's balanced out by the diminutive size. Even with the lack of a solid grip, it's still not that difficult to hang on to something that is about as big as two fingers.

The size and the curved head of the Cute Baby means that it can easily access all sorts of body parts that would benefit from some vibration love. The head is large enough to rest comfortably on the clitoris and hit most (if not all) of the nerve endings. It's also a good size for stimulating the entire anal opening.

Because of its small size and the absence of any sort of flared base, please remember that the Cute Baby should not be used for internal stimulation and/or penetration.

The toy is very discreet and can fit easily into a pocket or a small purse. The hard plastic exterior also means that there is no lint or any other fuzzy bits and pieces that can gravitate towards and get stuck on softer or more porous materials.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations are located at the head of the Cute Baby and are reasonably strong for a toy that is powered on only one AA battery. Those who require stronger vibrations to achieve orgasm will find that the Cute Baby doesn't bring the necessary power to the table. At the same time, keep in mind that the designers probably didn't have that sort of vibration intensity in mind when putting the toy together. The Cute Baby does a fine job of providing light vibrations. Anything beyond that would fall under the range of a different set of toys.

While the Cute Baby does do its job well, getting it to that point can be a real struggle. The head contains the vibration mechanism and the base provides the slot for the battery. The base does not separate easily from the head and there's no instruction manual included in the packaging to get one started. The key is to pull and crack the two halves away from each other much like one does those plastic eggs that circulate around Easter time. Twisting and pulling alone doesn't really do the trick.

Once the two halves are separated and the battery is in place, the key to turning the Cute Baby on lies in aligning a metal connector tab at the base with the one at the head. Again, there is no manual or guidance provided by the manufacturer and having to take the time to figure out how it works is a nuisance at best.

If all goes well in the assembly and getting the vibrator up and running, you'll find that the noise produced by the Cute Baby is slight to moderate. It's about the same sound and volume as an electric toothbrush.

Vibrations come in only one intensity level. Turning the vibrations on and off is done by twisting the base. When the two metal tabs in the head and the base are aligned, the toy vibrates. When they are not aligned, the toy stops vibrating. In practical terms, this means that it may be best to turn the toy on once and leave it on for the duration. Especially when used in the dark, it can be a challenge to see if you're aligning the two tabs correctly.

The Cute Baby is not waterproof.

Care and Maintenance

Although the Cute Baby is not waterproof, it can withstand some splashing when it comes time to clean up. The manufacturer recommends that the toy be washed with liquid antibacterial soap and water. Pat dry and allow to air dry completely.

Storage should not be a real concern with the Cute Baby. Its hard plastic coating should not react with other materials and it's solid enough to be able to withstand quite a bit of knocking about in a storage container.

Because the Cute Baby is made entirely of plastic, it is compatible with all lubricants.

Packaging

The plastic packaging is very easy to open. There are no instructions included with the Cute Baby, but the paper insert in the packaging is an entertaining read for those who enjoy funky translations into English from exotic foreign languages. One of my personal favorites on the package insert is "Let this cute little guy brings you endless climax! Can't believe? Just try it!"

The package is also small and convenient to open enough to double as a storage container.
