Not So Precious Magic Paddle.

The Magic's slim shape and tapered thumb-like paddle is size-friendly to people looking for a small vibrator. However, there wasn't any magic in this paddle for me. While it was super quiet, it left me wanting more.

Use

The Magic Slim Precious Paddle is meant to be a g-spot vibrator, but since my first few experiences with the Paddle, it has served its life taking up space in a drawer. I personally found it ineffective for g-spot stimulation, so I thought it might work simply as a clitoral vibrator. However, I found it to be too long to hold comfortably while attempting to get the flexible neck to provide enough pressure.

It is very slim, the skinny half of the vibrator is almost 4 inches long and only 3.75 inches at its thickest. For someone who needs a slimmer vibrator, this might be a good choice. For those who don't need pressure against their clit, then the problems I ran into might not matter. The Paddle is very quiet, so if you live in a shared household, dorm, etc. then this toy could be an affordable option. Also, all of you water toy lovers out there, the Paddle is waterproof (tested by yours truly).

Material / Texture

The Paddle is made from TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), which means it's more porous than silicone, but still a moderately safe material: phthalates free, hypo-allergenic, and latex free.

The texture is very rubbery, just rubbing a finger on it makes a unpleasant squeaky noise. Everything sticks to it, so you can't set it down without it picking up lint/hair. Right out of the box it smelled a bit funny and even after washing it with soap and water, it still retains a slight rubbery smell. It has a bit of nubby/beady texture at the paddle tip, which is about the size of a male thumb. Pretty nice, not scary at all, but nothing to go crazy over in terms of enjoyment.

The Paddle does not have a solid core, so it's very flexible (it can be bent in half). I found that because it was not effective internally, that this flexibility was not a plus since it prevented the toy from providing adequate pressure on the clitoris.

Design / Shape / Size

The Paddle has a simple design. It has a long thin neck that then thickens at the base. The thick base is grip-friendly and the slim tapered neck of the toy allows for easy penetration. However, as it does not have a flared base (the very end is actually smaller than the thickest part of the toy) I would not recommend this for anal use.

Since the TPE is translucent, you can clearly see the bullet vibrator (which is located in the thumb paddle) and the black wire connecting it to the battery compartment at the base. Though it is more discreet than a realistic looking toy since it doesn't have anything obviously phallic about it, being able to see the bullet inside the toy makes it the kind of item you'll want tucked away when visitors come over.

The size of the toy is friendly for those looking for a slimmer toy. According to my measurements, the body is almost 7 inches long. The very tip has a girth of 2.5 inches which then thickens to almost 5 inches near the base. However, in order to maintain a grip on the toy during use, the insertable portion is about 5 inches long and 4.5 inches around.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Paddle is relatively quiet. Under the covers (I have a down comforter), it was only audible at the highest level (there are 3) and not annoyingly so even then. The vibrations however are unfortunately very buzzzzzy feeling. Instead of making everything feeling all great, the vibrations felt a bit ticklish/itchy.

I found that since the bullet piece is in the tip, that the paddle vibrated the most. Unfortunately, because of the flexible material, you can't really press down the "thumb" portion onto your clitoris without actually holding the neck (rather than the base) of the vibrator. This causes an uncomfortable buzzy feeling in your hand which is just plain distracting mid-play! A good aspect of the material, though, is it allows the vibrations to be felt mildly throughout the whole toy.

The control is pretty easy to use, just a push button. I prefer a separate on/off switch, but since there are only 3 levels on the Paddle, it's not too much of a hassle turning off.

Also, like I said earlier, it's waterproof which offers fun scenarios in the tub, shower, pool etc. It also makes cleaning a breeze.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning the Paddle is very easy since it's waterproof and not very porous. I just wash it in the sink with antibacterial soap. It can be used with both silicone and water-based lubes, which is nice if you are a silicone fan. It did not come with any kind of storage case and considering how the material attracts everything, you'll have to find something to stick it in (I use an unpaired sock). The Paddle takes 2 AAA batteries, so nothing difficult about finding those.

Actually, putting batteries in was pretty difficult the first time around. The actual battery holder pops out. So you take that out, put the batteries in, then when you insert it back into the vibrator, make sure you line up that red arrow with the writing on the side of the battery holder. Unless you're looking for it, you won't notice the TINY little red arrow on the inside of the battery compartment.

Packaging

The packaging was simple and pretty tame for California Exotics. It has the heads of a young couple standing cheek to cheek, but does not show anything more than the man's torso.

I like more instructions than what this offers, though the toy is pretty self-explanatory. All the box offers in terms of care/use is "Twist cap securely before use. Wash before and after use. Remove batteries when not in use. Always use a water based lubricant with this product for maximum pleasure."

I'm not sure why California Exotics specified water-based lubricant since TPE can be used with silicone lubricants as well. This might be something you'd want to contact the company with before using a silicone lubricant on the toy though.

Experience

Overall, the Magic Slim Precious Paddle, while it has some redeeming features, did not work out to be the best choice for me. I used it 3x just to make sure that I wasn't being unfair, but it was simply never "magical." The two main problems were not being able to provide pressure with the thin, flexible neck of the toy and the Paddle not really doing anything for the g-spot (though it is advertised as a g-spot vibrator).

I've seen the "always use a water-based lubricant" message on the box of just about every Cal Ex vibe I own, regardless of the toy's material. I'm sure it's because water-based lube is pretty much universal and sticking with one generic message saves the company time/money (or something). Great review!
