Not very mighty, but definitely a mite

The Miti-Mite would be a good introduction to pocket rocket style massagers and the two sleeves would add something new for those who are already familiar with them, but this toy just does not have the strength or variety of vibrations to effectively pleasure me. I was happy to discover that I enjoyed using it on my sore back and shoulders, but the Miti-Mite just doesn't cut it as a sex toy.

Use

The Miti-Mite is a pocket rocket vibrator/massager. Because of its small size, it is really only suitable for external stimulation (clit, breasts, and so on), either by yourself or with a partner. This might be a good toy for those who already use and like pocket rockets or for someone who wants to give one a try: I admit that the small size is a plus for travel or when you're on the go, but this is the toy that firmly decided me against pocket rockets. In my opinion, they just don't do the job.

That being said, the silicone "pleasure sleeves" do give this toy a boost against others of its type in that they provide you with additional options for texture. It would be a non-intimidating toy that new users could definitely start their collections with, but you'd be limited to external use only since pocket rockets aren't really insertable.

Material / Texture

The Miti-Mite massager itself is made of ABS plastic (an 8 on Eden's Safety Scale)and is smooth to the touch, but not cool. As another reviewer has noted, use of this toy makes the plastic heat up and get warm, which freaked me out a little. Like all the other pocket rockets I have ever seen, the Miti-Mite "head" has three little metal nubs on the top. Personally I don't enjoy these, especially when rubbing the clitoris, because they can create a bit more of a painful than pleasurable tugging sensation. I wouldn't necessary want to use lube on the pocket rocket by itself (metal and lube combined weirds me out a bit), but lubing up the sleeves might make the toy a bit more fun to use because of the texture it would create, but only use water based lube. I just wasn't inspired enough to bother trying out the Miti-mite with lube, since I primarily only need lube when I'm inserting a toy.

The two "pleasure sleeves" are made of TPE (also known as TPR) silicone. Don't get too excited; that is NOT the same as regular, high quality silicone (that has a 10 on the Eden safety scale). This material is the fancy silicone's poor country cousin- it only ranks a 6 on the scale (so the sleeves are actually LESS SAFE than the massager itself) and has the texture and feel of rubber balloons. Maybe this would be acceptable to brand-new beginners, but even in my less-than-10-total-toys experience, this just didn't hit the right note for me. The sleeves also have a faint, rubbery smell, which was only noticeable when I stuck them right up to my nose, but it is definitely there.

The first sleeve is completely smooth with a little bit of extra material padding the very tip. The second one is identical except for the fact that it has horizontal lines going across the majority of the "body." I think that these are supposed to increase sensation but, frankly, I couldn't tell a difference between the two sleeves when they were on the toy.

The sleeves both have a minor amount of drag to them, similar to the feeling you get with dragging a popped balloon across your skin. If you wanted to insert the pocket rocket vaginally while using the sleeves, you could, but to a VERY small extent. With a sleeve or without, this should absolutely NOT be used anally.

Design / Shape / Size

The massager is just your standard pocket rocket, perhaps 3 inches tall, with the nubbed top that I mentioned above. After using the Miti-Mite, I've decided that I just don't enjoy this kind of toy. It's too small for insertion, in my opinion, and the bumps on the top just felt weird when I tried to push it in a little way. It would DEFINITELY be a bad choice for anal- I was scared that this toy could get lost in my vagina, much less anywhere else! Using it on my breasts and nipples actually hurt (with or without the sleeves). I figured that this was primarily geared towards the clit, so that's where I spent most of my time, and boy was I disappointed! Even though I am relatively new to the world of toys, this one felt like it was too 'beginner,' even for me.

For someone who is concerned about discreetness, especially during travel, this might be a good bet. Anyone who knows what a pocket rocket is will recognize the toy for what it is. The sleeves definitely give you away, as well.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The massager has only one setting: you twist the dial on the bottom of the toy from OPEN to OFF to ON. I actually found myself accidentally turning the toy off during use and one time even had the battery fall out because the dial was twisted to open by mistake! Despite being easy to turn off or open, it was very difficult to get the toy to turn on (you have to twist extra hard).

The vibrations are only located at the top but, because the toy is so small, your hand can feel them all the way at the base. This caused my hand to start tingling, especially once the toy started to heat up from use. This was NOT a pleasant feeling!

The one level of vibration just did not do it for me. It wasn't the weakest I've ever felt but, especially with the sleeves on, it was just a very mild thrumming sensation. It was not enough to even relax me, much less get me off! I guess I need variety in my vibrations and this just does not have it.

I would say the vibe had about 2 vrooms without a sleeve/1.5 with a sleeve and 2 bees either way. The sleeves do dull the vibrations, making it less strong but more buzzy and more numbing. This has no effect on the noise level to speak of.

This toy is noisier than I was expecting. When used under the blanket, it could be heard in the same room (by a roommate, for instance) but not beyond the closed door (by neighbors or housemates). Turning music on might have masked the sound completely.

There is what might look like a Waterproof O Ring at the bottom of the toy, but the packaging very clearly says DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER.

Care and Maintenance

The toy only takes 1 AA battery.

The instructions for this toy suggest that you wash it thoroughly before and after use. Obviously, this should be done when the battery is out because the toy IS NOT waterproof. VERY CAREFULLY, clean with antibacterial soap and hot water, preferably using a damp/soapy cloth rather than dunking the thing into water. The sleeves can be cleaned with warm water and toy cleaner or mild soap.

You should only use a water based lubricant when the sleeves are on and I wouldn't recommend trying to use any sort of lube on just the massager itself.

Because of its teeny size, you could store the toy pretty much anywhere or hide it in a hurry. You could very easily just throw the massager into a drawer and it would be fine, but storing the sleeves might present a logistical problem. They pick up lint and dust and, perhaps more importantly, would probably make someone realize what they were for (especially if the massager was nearby). You don't need to worry about the toy's materials coming into contact with other toys- you could literally just throw it in with others and it would be fine. I have mine hidden under pajamas in my dresser (the only worry being what if one of the empty sleeves fall into my pjs? When off the massager, the sleeves look enough like stretched out condoms to create some embarrassment if I had one sticking out of my pj pants' pocket, for instance).

Packaging

The packaging for this toy is the very opposite of discreet- I was actually embarrassed when I pulled off the brown paper that Edenfantasys wrapped it in. The massager and sleeves are housed in an easily-openable plastic case (with shaped indentations to house the specific pieces) that you can snap back closed. The paper insert however, which covers the whole see-through package, is of an ENTIRELY NAKED woman. You actually get two views of her, on the front and on the back, in case once wasn't enough. The back contained basic information: that the toy was a massager with "pleasure sleeves," battery information, a caution against using in water, a recommendation to use with water based lube, and a disclaimer that the toy was for novelty use only.

I would NOT feel comfortable giving this toy to someone packaged as is, nor would I want to keep the packaging for storage.

Personal comments

This toy helped me personally decide that I'm finished with pocket rockets and cemented the suspicion I've been having that I need a variety of vibrations/settings in order to have a toy really work for me. This just doesn't have the bells and whistles that I enjoy, but that doesn't mean that someone with simpler tastes or more creativity or patience wouldn't have a good time with it.

Experience

While I was disappointed with the Miti-Mite as a sex toy, there ended up being a silver lining: it actually works wonders as a neck/shoulder massager. The little metal nubs were great for working out small knots! This pleasant revelation was not enough to change my mind about the overall quality/usefulness of the toy, but kept me from deciding to throw it out.
Follow-up commentary
While I have found myself reaching for this a few times to soothe sore muscles, I've not been at all inspired to try it again on my ladyparts. It's a bummer, because this toy had some promise and the potential to rise above the typical pocket rocket. It may help with the kinks in my neck, but it sure doesn't get me feeling kinky!
