With a beautiful name and a whimsical shape, the Fleur De Lis can be a safe bet for a first toy or a fun addition to your wheelbarrow-sized collection. This toy is conservative in girth and length and along with its pleasant shape and color, its bound to be accepted by a new toy user. The Fleur De Lis is made of smooth silicone. The material is very flexible and squishy to the touch and has no foul odor or taste. On the very bottom of the Fleur De Lis there is a white plastic cap. If you unscrew the cap you can access the battery compartment. In the compartment you will find a long plastic sleeve that you withdraw from the toy. This sleeve holds two AAA batteries. After placing the batteries in you replace the sleeve in the vibrator while taking care to align the nub on the sleeve with the notch in the compartment. I'm assuming the sleeve is meant to keep the batteries snug as a bug to prevent excess noise. While it was pretty easy to put the batteries in, taking them out of the sleeve is deceivingly difficult.

The controls are very simple. A clear push button sits flush against the bottom on the cap. There are three speeds and no patterns. Each push cycles through LOW-MEDIUM-HIGH-OFF. There is no dedicated ON/OFF switch which is a bit of a drawback but not a major concern. A simple twist of the cap will stop the toy in case of interruption.

The vibrations can best be described as moderately strong and "buzzy" rather than "throbby". Strength of the vibrations varies along the length of the toy with the strongest sensations concentrated in the tip. while the Fleur De Lis isn't excessively loud, it can be heard through a closed door on it HIGH setting.

Non-porous silicone is easy to take care of and can be cleaned with soap and water and antibacterial soap. The Fleur De Lis is waterproof so its a breeze to clean; no worries about frying it.
