Use

Feast your eyes upon Lelo's Insignia Soraya! Not much can surpass it in beauty, power, and luxury. This g-spot and clitoral vibrator is easy to use and has a handle to prevent hand cramping. It can be used in solo play or with a partner. I have had my partner use it on me and have used it on them as well as a method of teasing each other. It doesn't look intimidating due to the smaller girth, but with the heavy price tag, a toy like this may be better for more experienced users who know what they are looking for in a toy. Because it is made with nonporous material, it can be used anally. There is a seam running between the ABS plastic and the silicone, so if planning to use it in this way, you must clean it extremely well after or just use a condom. The Soraya is also very quiet and very powerful. Power queens will love this, especially those living with children, roommates, or other people whom they don't want to find out about their bedroom antics.

Material / Texture

The Soraya is made of body safe silicone and metallic ABS plastic. It did not have a smell to it even when first taking it out of the box. At first I was a little disappointed that ABS plastic was used instead of some type of metal, but after thinking about other metal toys, it would definitely make the toy much heavier to use and most likely take away from the experience. It is made of food-grade material, is hypo-allergenic, latex free, non-porous, and phthalates free. It has a rating of an 8 out of 10 on Eden Fantasy's material safety index, making it one of the more safe toys out there. The velvety feel of the smooth silicone has no drag to it and the toy itself is very light. It feels great used on the body and when inserted. The material does not require a lot of lube so a bit goes a long way.

Design / Shape / Size

As expected, a lot of thought went into the Soraya. Previous problems mentioned with the Ina were the rigid arm and problems with it not fitting a lot of different women's anatomies. With the Soraya, the clitoral arm is flexible. This is a great change for a few reasons. Not only does it allow the product to be compatible with more people, but it also lets you better control the pressure and amount of stimulation you are receiving. If you insert the Soraya as far as you can, it will automatically have the clitoral arm pressing against you more. If you don't have it inserted all the way, or not at all, you can always bend or put a little pressure on the arm to make it suit your needs perfectly for the right amount of stimulation.

The beautiful, sleek design features the insertable portion (5" long, 4" around at widest point)with a slight upward curve to it for hitting the g spot at just the right angle. The external stimulator (almost 2.5" long, 2.5" around) is for clitoral stimulation. In total, the toy is 8.5" long. This toy can also be used on your partner. Gently hold the insertable part underneath his balls, or run either end up, down, and around his shaft and tip to send him through the roof. I also would put the toy against my hand when rubbing him or when using it on myself for even more subtle vibrations. Just a warning, he might like using your vibrator almost as much as you do afterwards. This also works great for guys that feel that they are competing with the toy. A lot of guys, as you might know, tend to get this feeling; by using it on them they can understand better that it is just a different sensation and feel less "threatened" by toys in the bedroom. Also, the body safe nonporous silicone makes it a better candidate for sharing. Use condoms for extra protection if sharing with someone you don't know and always remember to be safe and clean the Soraya before and after each use.

Another great feature is the handle. This makes using the Soraya SO much easier! I don't get hand cramping like I do with other toys and it makes it easier to get the perfect angle every time. The controls are placed on the handle so you can change the settings and still have a finger or two free to move the clitoral arm if you need to.

One of the design flaws is the seam between the two materials. While it isn't a big problem for me, it is a little bothersome that gunk can build up in there and women who are more prone to infections can have problems with this. I have read a couple reviews that said it closes up a bit overtime but so far I haven't noticed much of a difference. Either way, you can't feel the seam during use which is good. If prone to infections, try using a condom to prevent material from building up in the seam.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The controls on the Insignia Soraya are very simple: +, -, and () symbols that flash when you press them. The + and - are used to increase or decrease intensity, and the () is to change between modes. Also, if you keep pressing or hold the - button, it will turn the Soraya off. As a current study abroad student, I love the lock function (hold the + and - at the same time until the control pad flashes), because the last thing you need is for the TSA to go through your luggage to look for the source of vibrating sounds. The buttons are easy enough to press, but not so easy that you have to worry about accidentally touching them and getting out of your groove. The control pad is also positioned in just the right spot on the handle of the toy, making it easy to use but not in the way so you don't have to worry about accidentally hitting buttons.

There are 8 different modes, each of which you can change the intensity of once selected. I am a simple woman; basic patterns are all I need to climax and I usually don't end up using the other modes much, however I do sometimes enjoy the roller coaster mode which switches between roller coaster vibrations in the internal and external stimulators. Other vibration patterns include a mix of long and short vibrations through both motors (reminds me a bit of morse code), both motors at once, and also just the internal motor by itself. My only complaint is that the clitoral arm cannot be controlled separately without the internal motor being on as well.

Another feature I love about the Soraya is that the control pad flashes when it is charging. With some toys like the We Vibe, I had no idea when it was done charging. The Soraya takes very little time to change (up to 2 hours max) and lasts for about 4 hours I believe. When finished, the control pad will stay lit and stop flashing. I have used it for long periods of time over and over between charges and never had a problem with it dying on me. Only once or twice have I gotten the battery low enough that the lights started flashing to indicate low battery.

The locations of the vibrations are in the tip of the internal and external portions. I love the thuddy vibrations of the insertable portion. Both motors are extremely powerful and very quiet. While the clitoral arm's vibrations can sound a bit buzzy when on the highest settings, they are muted when using it under the covers or when it is in contact with skin or material. They aren't loud enough that it can be heard through a door, and even though they might sound a bit buzzy, the vibrations are still very intense. I was using it while laying next to the boyfriend while he was watching tv and he didn't even hear it. The design of the controls are my personal favorite out of any toys I have tried thus far.

Care and Maintenance

The Soraya is very easy to clean. Good old hot water and soap works well, or you can use a 10% bleach solution or toy cleaner. For cleaning the seam between the plastic and silicone, you can use a toothbrush or one of those fuzzy bristled stick flossers. I haven't bothered yet with cleaning the seam as the gap is so small and it hasn't been necessary. Unless you are more prone to infections, are sharing the toy, or using it anally, you shouldn't need to worry about cleaning the seam too often. Since the toy is waterproof, you can submerge it completely when cleaning. Just remember to dry completely before charging.

Close up of the seam:

This product is made with silicone, so use water based lube. Also, store separately from other silicone toys as the materials do not react well together. Thankfully, the Soraya doesn't pick up lint, dirt, and hair like other toys, but do still clean it before and after use. Store in the silk pouch or box when not in use to keep it in top condition.

Packaging

The packaging is simple, sleek, and elegant as you would expect from Lelo. It just oozes luxury and even includes a brooch featuring the Insignia design. The cardboard box that holds the black Lelo box has a picture of the Soraya on one side with a few material specs and information about the product. Even though it isn't discrete, it doesn't scream sex toy. Besides, the actual storage box itself is a nice, simple, sturdy black box that says Lelo on it so it isn't obvious.

When you take the black box out of the cardboard packaging, you will see that the Soraya is stored snuggly in a velvet cut out with a small compartment on the side which includes the charger, warranty and instruction booklets, a small packet of lubricant, and a silk storage pouch. Even though it comes with a silk pouch, I always end up just storing it back in the box for safekeeping. I have yet to wear the brooch, but it is simple enough that others won't know what it stands for unless they know of Lelo or have one themselves. I have no complaints about the packaging. If you really want to treat yourself or that special someone in your life, this is the way to do it.
    • Good for storage
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

I absolutely love the Lelo Soraya. I was tired of constantly having to purchase new toys because others either didn't satisfy me or broke after not much use due to poor quality. After all the money I spent, I finally decided to go with a luxury toy, and I am so happy I did. After trying quite a few toys, I knew what I was looking for and decided on this. Being a college student, I don't have tons of money to throw out on toys that don't work constantly. This product has helped me learn to have multiple orgasms in one session, something I previously had not been able to do. I like how the arm is flexible and how the material is safer compared to other dual stimulators I have previously owned. Having a quiet toy is also extremely important to me with having roommates so this was a perfect match. I'm having a hard time putting it down, thankfully it charges quickly!
Follow-up commentary
So it's been over 2 months and I still love this toy. If I had to pick 1 toy to keep and had to get rid of all the others, I'd keep this one. It's great for short and long sessions. The Soraya charges quick and the charge lasts a long time! I must say, I am addicted to this vibrator. Another fun tip if you haven't tried this before: use some ben wa balls/kegel balls and then use your vibrator at the same time. The vibrations from the ben wa balls and the vibrator are amazing on the g-spot. Also, the seam hasn't bothered me at all. Yeast infections haven't been a big problem for me, but it is good to still clean it every once in a while just so gunk doesn't build up. Also, I like the flexible arm. If I need more pressure, I just put my finger on the tip of the clitoral arm and it has worked well for me. Thank you for reading!

  • Non p-spot toys for p-spot use?
    • So am I barking up the totally wrong tree or does it seem like there are some toys that would be awesome on the p-spot, even though they might not be intended for that? When I first saw the Insignia Soraya I got really curious, but is it ill-advised to be used as a man's toy? Are there any great "crossover" toys? Maybe with really strong vibes?
    • I think you could definitely use this for prostate stimulation. It may not be intended for anal use but the clitoral stimulating arm would work well as a taint stimulator and would keep the toy from getting lost in your ass so it should be safe to use.

You do whatever you want with it. :-) I have a toybox full of "straight" toys that I enjoy for anal.

  • My Two Cents (From A Soraya Owner of 1yr)
    • (Sorry in advance for how lengthy this post is.)

Just wanted to throw in my two cents for those of you that are still contemplating purchasing the Insignia Soraya.

To date, the Soraya is the most expensive toy that I own. I don't generally splurge on toys. But, the Soraya definitely checked off all the requirements I was looking for in a dual-action vibrator -- rechargeable, waterproof, ergonomic shape, strong vibration strength, quietness. So, I figured it was well worth the investment. A year later, the Soraya is still arguably my favorite toy that I own. I want to emphasize that. However, there are certain flaws that have appeared over the course of a year that I wanted to share with you.

(The following are listed in sequential order in which they occurred.)

Gapping between metallic inlay and silicone.
      ---
From the pictures, this gap is really hard to notice. However, it became more apparent even after the toy was used once. The toy's materials (ABS plastic and silicone) are very hygienic and easy as ever to clean. Yet, the tiny crevice created where these materials join together is an entirely different story. It is nearly impossible to clean this crevice. The only thing I've found that works slightly is a thin, folded piece of paper to force out some of the debris. But, don't expect any amount of soap and water to clean this crevice. This can be especially problematic if you intend on sharing your toy. I, personally, do not share my toys. But, even still, this became a little disgusting after a while.

Flaking of the metallic coating on the plastic.
      ---
After about 6 months, I noticed a small area where the metallic coating began to flake off of the plastic, revealing a not-so-shiny white plastic beneath. The area was very tiny and perhaps not so noticeable. But, given how much the toy costs, occasional use and a cleaning of warm water and soap should not be able to flake the coating off, in my opinion. It also concerned me that the toy could possibly continue to flake off when I was using the toy.

      Hole formed over charging port.
      ---
Perhaps one of the most innovative things about the Soraya is that the toy is rechargeable and waterproof. There is a tiny pinhole in the silicone that you puncture the cable through in order to charge the toy. Yet, the pinhole is so tiny that water will not get inside the toy. Unfortunately, after about 12-15 charges, that pinhole was no longer a pinhole. Over time, tiny pieces of silicone began to fragment off where the cable had punctured. The hole, while arguably still very small, became large enough for water to get inside of the toy. It was from that point on that I didn't trust the toy as being waterproof anymore. I also had to be a lot more cautious washing the toy to make sure water didn't get inside.

      Motor malfunction.
      ---
This happened about 8 months into owning the toy and I still have no explanation as to what happened. The toy reached a point where, as long as it had some charge to its battery, there was no way to turn the toy off. Even on its lowest setting, it was operating on some sort of sub-setting that was below anything the keypad could control. There was no way to turn the toy off. No minus of the arrow would turn it off. The keypad didn't even recognize the toy as being on at all. I could turn it up. But, I could never turn it off. My only option was to wait for the battery to die completely. Then, it would finally stop vibrating. As soon as I'd go to charge the toy, within a millisecond of connecting it, the motor was locked on again with no way to turn it off. It was an endless, annoying cycle. I eventually got fed up with this and took advantage of LELO's 1-year warranty.

From the minute I purchased the Soraya, it was like an investment for me. And once I received the toy, I always took excellent care of it. I always monitored the toy when it was charging to make sure it didn't overcharge and fry the battery. The toy was always thoroughly cleaned with soap and warm water. When not in use, it was stored in its original boxed packaging. All in all, the issues were mostly cosmetic. Yet, these issues led to problems with the overall function of the toy. Luckily, these issues happened sooner than later and I could take advantage of the warranty for the motor issue. I think I would have been a little more than irritated if I was only left to the 10-year warranty (which only gives you 50% off a new LELO toy).

Regardless of all of these issues, the Soraya was still the best toy I had ever purchased (when it was still functioning properly at least). All of my expectations were met and it was exactly what I was looking for. My point of writing this review is not to deter you from purchasing the Soraya. Chances are, it will be your dream toy. However, I wanted to inform you on the potential flaws of the toy. (This is to say that not everyone will have the same issues I have had.) Given the price and investment of the toy, I know many of you are going through the same intense decision-making process that I did. So, I just wanted to give you my two cents after owning the toy for a little over a year now.

Hopefully, you all will find at least some of this helpful. If you would like my feedback on anything else about the toy, I'd be more than happy to help.

      Happy shopping!

  • How is the Insignia Soraya at clean up?
    • I hear these toys are really difficult to clean :/
    • I've heard that, too, and it's really put me off them. :/

I do wonder if maybe there was a defect of if they've corrected it but I'd want something solid to go on before investing that much in something that could have really gross issues.
    • Quote: I hear these toys are really difficult to clean :/
It isn't very difficult to clean but, you do need to pay a little more attention to the this one as opposed to a toy that is a solid silicone toy. I described a seam between the metallic looking plastic and the silicone in my review. I just like to inspect that seem to make sure it is clean on a regular basis. Otherwise all you need is some soap and running water to clean this toy.
