Use

The Power G vibrator by California Exotic Novelties is excellent for producing G-spot orgasms and works equally as well when used as a clitoral stimulator. Its wide base makes it safe to use during anal play as well. The generous girth may not be appropriate for beginners, but the smooth texture and flexible design make it easy to use for anyone who can handle the size.

People on a budget will appreciate the fact that the Power G is electric, so there's no need to ever worry about buying batteries!

Material / Texture

There is a bit of confusion regarding the material this toy is made of. On the front of the box it says "unscented TPR", but then "TPE" on the bottom of the box, and "unscented TPE" on manufacturer's website. The exact material doesn't matter much though, since California Exotic states that their TPR and TPE materials are both phthalates free, non-porous, and do not contain any natural latex. However, the term "unscented" obviously only refers to the materials used to make it, because this toy has a strong odor straight out of the box that some users may find unpleasant. It is similar to the smell of model glue or epoxy resin, but have patience because it does fade considerably after the toy has been washed a few times.

The feel of the material is very nice. It's perfectly smooth to the touch, with none of the sticky feeling that is common with so many TPR or TPE toys. The surface is firm, which aids insertion, but has just enough cushion to it that it's very comfortable. The upper half of the shaft flexes a bit so that even with vigorous movement it still feels good inside.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy is angled perfectly to find the G-spot, and the firm-yet-flexible material combined with the rounded tip ensures that there'll be no pain mixed with your pleasure. The generous 1-3/8" diameter adds to the great sensations by making sure that every part of the vaginal opening gets stimulated, and the 3-1/4" insertable length makes this toy useful for women whose G-spot may be positioned a little deeper inside.

The curved tip also makes it very easy to use the Power G as a clitoral stimulator without having to bend your wrist into any awkward positions.

The horizontal hilt vibrates against the labia when the toy is inserted, but the soft nubs on the side seem to serve little purpose since they do not reach the clitoris.

Considering that this toy is chunky, sports a bright pink color and has an overall length of 6-1/2", it isn't what one could call "discreet". However, it shouldn't be difficult to tuck away in a drawer or a box someplace, or to pack in your suit case when traveling.

Functions / Performance / Controls

One of the best things about this toy is that you'll never have to worry about buying batteries for it. The Power G plugs runs off of any 120-240 volt AC house outlet and features a cord that is over 9 feet long so you don't have to sit right next to an outlet to use it.

The ridged dial base twists clockwise to turn the toy on and gradually increase the level of vibrations. At it's lowest setting, the vibrations are fairly gentle and the toy is whisper quiet. At its highest setting, the Power G delivers intense vibrations that would be far too strong for sensitive users, and the noise level when it's outside of the body is loud enough that it might be heard through a closed door. However, once inserted the toy quiets down so it would only be heard through the covers but not through a door.

The vibrations can be felt all over the shaft and hilt, though more so at the curved end, and clamping down on the toy won't slow down the vibes at all.

The Power G is not waterproof.

Care and Maintenance

Whether this toy be TPR or TPE, you can wash it with soap and water or a toy cleaner, but it cannot be bleached or boiled. Using running water on the vibrator's shaft is fine, but remember to unplug it before washing and don't get any water up in the plastic dial base.
The Power G is compatible with water-based lubricants.

Packaging

This toy comes in a thin clear plastic box that has a clear slide-out tray that the toy nests in. The packaging isn't strong enough for long-term storage, but should last a good while if you're careful with it. There are no instructions included, but there is some general product information printed on the box.

Experience

Michele says:
If it's fully inserted, this toy passes my G-spot altogether, but since the base didn't do anything for me anyway it's no loss to back it out a bit. And I’ve found the Power G to be versatile. I can't use rough-vibrating toys internally without getting a YI, but I do need a lot of vibrations for a clitoral orgasm... this toy fits both situations nicely. Low setting for using it inside, high for pleasing the clit, and either way it gives me the "big O" every time with no problems.

I did catch the dial a time or two with my fingernail and shut the toy off unintentionally, but it only took a second to get it back to the right level again.

Alan says:
I can't stand the smell of this thing. Michele washed it right after we got it, left it in the bathroom all day, and by evening the whole room smelled like we'd been building model airplanes in there. It did fade somewhat after a day of multiple scrubbings, but it's still enough of an odor that I refuse to use the toy on her without a condom. Frankly I'm hoping that I can talk her into tossing it and getting something that feels safer to me. It's a shame though, because it works great for getting her off fast when I'm giving her oral, and that extra long cord lets me move wherever I need to without unplugging it.

Excellent review! It'd be nice to have something that doesn't eat up batteries! I wondered what the purpose of the "hilt" was...Do you find that it really adds much to the experience, since all it does is stimulate the labia? Thanks for your review!

I like the electric concept.. too bad it went right pass the G spot but good that you got it to work out. Thanks for the review!

I love the idea of electric! Too bad about the smell - I think there is nothing worse Smile

lexical--- I didn't find that the hilt added much in the stimulation arena, because my G is located lower so I don't really use it "full in" very much. But it makes the toy extremely easy to hold on to in any position, and it does make it safe for anal use too.

    Mamastoys-- electric is awesome!

Sammi-- I don't notice the smell all that much with a condom on it, but I have to agree with Alan that the condom makes me feel safer using it. I wish somebody would make something like this out of silicone!
