Pretty design, pretty weak

The Luxe Replenish ultimately looks a little nicer than it is. It'll work well for you if you like shallow, surface level vibrations--but I don't. It only got me off after quite a bit of time and with plenty of mental stimulation. It's not a toy I would reach for, if I had any choice, but that's personal preference only. For its price, it's not a total loss.

Use

The Luxe Replenish is a a small, ergonomically crafted vibrator that is similar to the BCurious. In my opinion, it's best intended for external use, especially on the clitoris. However, you can also use the vibrator for general massage because it fits so well in the palm of your hand.

Material / Texture

The Luxe Replenish is made of several differently textured plastics. The top of the toy features smooth and shiny, purple and silver plastics while the bottom--the part that makes contact with the skin--is a velvet treated plastic that feels satiny to the touch. It does not add drag; although, you may want to add a bit of lube or even massage oil if you like your adventures to be wetter. The entire piece is rigid.

Out of the box, the plastic has no smell but I've noticed plastics do have a tendency to pick up on scents and can stubbornly hold on them even after several washings.

Plastic is a safer material that contains no chemicals such as phthalates. After a soap and water cleansing, you can wipe it with rubbing alcohol to further cleaner it but plastic isn't perfectly non-porous like silicone or glass--especially with ridges and seams.

Design / Shape / Size

This vibrator curves outward along the bottom edges, which will touch your body during use. The upper edge curves upward slightly before curving downward toward the usable end, becoming parallel with the bottom edge. From the side, it looks a bit like a boat or a toned down version of the shoe-esque BCurious by BSwish. The center of the top and the bottom of the toy are purple (or pink, depending on your model) while there is a silver border between the top of bottom. In my opinion, the overall design is a bit futuristic and that has a lot to do with the reason I requested it to review.

The vibrator, while not large, is a bit bigger than some clitoral stimulators I've tried. It's 4.5" long from end to end and about 1.5" inches wide at the widest point, the center. Both the ends narrow somewhat but the bottom of the toy remains a little rounder and wider. I think that something with a bit more of an angle might be better for accessing my clitoris. I don't love pointed toys exactly but it just felt a little bulky against my vulva, especially because the usable end angles upward instead of downward (like the Lily, Siri or Layaspot). Luxe Replenish is too tall for use during sex, in my opinion.

Because I have shorted fingers, I found I would rest mine around the button area but the curve along the top of the toy allows you to push a finger or two to apply more pressure with the toy. Normal-handed folks will probably find this works pretty well.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This vibrator is easy to use. There are two buttons: a master power button and another that cycles through the settings. The buttons are worked into the design in a unique way. They're surrounded by the hard plastic of the top of the toy but are actually a softer plastic. It surprised me when I first tried the toy. The controls make an audible clicking noise when you press them.

After pressing the power button, you have to press the cycle button to actually turn on the device. Both buttons light up red after you power on the device. However, I don't find that the buttons are in a visible location during use so the lights don't help me. It may help a partner in the dark, though. Also, I find the buttons difficult to locate because they're not really separate from the surrounding material nor are they so large. I have to stop stimulating myself to turn up the vibrations and this is frustrating.

This vibrator requires 2AAAs so I suspected I wouldn't fall in love with the vibrations. As I suspected, the vibes are rather buzzy in feeling. It's the type of toy that I immediately skip over the first one or two settings and I find the pulsation and escalation to be ineffective. The vibrations are located toward the tip of the toy and don't buzz your hand off but my body just becomes immune to the vibrations quite easily.

The modes include a low, medium and high steady vibration. This is followed by a short pulsation, a longer pulsation, a medium pulsation, a short-short-short-long pulsation and the last setting is escalation. They all blend together to me.

Although the packaging claims this is waterproof, I'd call it only splashproof. The battery compartment is quite unique. There's a tab you push in to remove the cover, like a remote control. However, there is a visible seam around the edge and the placement of the O-ring on the cover doesn't seem adequate, given the unique shape of the compartment. I wouldn't worry about it shorting out in the shower or washing with soap and water but I wouldn't submerge it.

The Luxe Replenish is not overly loud but is louder than I'd like given its power range. The Lelo Mia, for example, is much quieter.

Care and Maintenance

You may wipe down this vibrator with toy cleaner or a wipe or wash it with soap and water. If you're worried about water getting into the batteries, you can remove the cap to dry it out. The plastic will not pick up any lint so you can store it just about anywhere. When storing for long periods of time, you'll want to remove the batteries. You needn't worry about reactions with other materials and plastic is compatible with both water- and silicone-based lubes.

Packaging

This toy came in California Exotic's standard plastic box that was half crushed by the time I received it. It's not attractive or even all that functional.
