The Fly can be used for clitoral stimulation, but its intended application is vaginal insertion. It can also be used for teasing the nipples and other sensitive parts of the body, but please do not insert the Fly anally. There is no flared base and bad things could result. How does one explain to the doctor, "Help, there's a Fly in my butt"? However, a little teasing and tickling around the opening is fine.

Beginners, and those who prefer gentle vibrations and smaller toys for penetration, will find the most enjoyment from the Fly vibe. It's also the perfect gift for someone who's going to college, since this toy is very discreet in both size and sound.

The Fly is 100% silicone (as the package claims). It is very soft and flexible, but also firm when squeezed. It produces a bit of drag against bare skin, but water-based lube will reduce that friction. It is virtually odorless out of the box. A cute, raised floral design decorates the silicone sleeve of the toy, accompanied by a swirl. These textures are definitely felt when using the toy for penetration, but they are subtle, not overwhelming. Beginners should have no problem accepting this texture.

The Fly Micro consists of a silicone sleeve snugly wrapped around a little bullet. Although it's diminutive in size, it's not quite small enough to slip into a jeans pocket, but small enough for most purses to hide. To make up for its small, slender shape, the Fly's exterior is textured with a floral design and swirl which make penetration more interesting. Even so, size queens (or anyone who needs more than two fingers to get off) will find the size a bit lacking. It is ideal, however, for beginners and those who prefer petite toys.

The Fly runs on three coin cells (LR44), a set of which are included. These load with the positive terminal facing down and the negative terminal facing the spring in the cap. If loaded the other way, the toy will still vibrate, but not very reliably. There are three vibration intensities which are scrolled through by pressing the single button on the bottom of the bullet. The pamphlet claims that pushing the button will go from the lowest intensity to the highest, then back to the lowest before switching off (1, 2, 3, 2, 1, off). However, this is not true. The functions simply go from lowest to highest vibration, then turns off (1, 2, 3, off).

The lowest vibration is very gentle, almost like a tickle, while the highest is a good bit stronger, although it will not rival the strongest vibration given off by, say, a bullet running on AAA batteries. For clitoral stimulation, the Fly was not very effective at pinpoint vibrations. For penetrative purposes, however, the combination of the swirling floral texture and the gentle vibrations feel wonderful. The vibrations travel well through the sleeve, and are strongest at the tip of the vibrator. It wasn't enough to get me off, but it was still pleasant and worked well for me as a foreplay device. Beginners or those who favor weaker vibration will enjoy this toy.

I was impressed by how quiet this little vibe is. Someone in the same room will probably be able to pick up on it, but behind a closed door? It's virtually silent. If you're the kind who's paranoid about any kind of noise at all though, you're welcome to drown out the tiny whine with a steamy hot shower. The Fly is waterproof, but be sure that you close the cap extra tight before jumping in the water! I've taken this into the shower countless times, and it's performed well every single time. However, I would recommend taking out the bullet to let the sleeve and bullet dry separately after a shower.

Since the Fly is made from 100% silicone, it can be sterilized so it's safe to share. Before you chuck it into a vat of boiling water or wipe it down with bleach, however, it's recommended that you take out the little bullet first. It can be a little difficult the first time, because the silicone has a good grip on the bullet. I find it's easiest to leave the battery cap on, and holding the end of the bullet in one hand and the tip of the silicone sleeve in the other, to wiggle in alternating directions until the bullet eases out.

Applying a little bit of water-based lube to the bullet before reinserting it into the sleeve will make removal easier the next time, but it's not necessary. The bullet is waterproof, so if you wish to clean it, warm water and soap are fine. Remember to remove batteries after each use. The pamphlet that comes with the Fly suggests that the battery compartment be left open to dry, although I am not sure of how necessary this is, since the bullet is waterproof.

Fun Factory's packaging is always nice to look at. The Fly's box is no different. The box has a front flap held closed by magnets which opens to display the toy through a window with the main features of the Fly written on the inside of the flap. There is nothing lewd on the packaging, just fun colors and photos of the product along with feathers. On the side of the box are little pictures that describe the main benefits and warnings of the toy. My favorite is the one with the picture of a bum with a big X over it. NOT FOR YOUR BUTT!

While most of my big, fat, "I could take out a burglar with this" toys are staying at my boyfriend's, I like to keep several small, discreet toys with me at college. I know I need a little stress relief at school, especially during finals! The Fly has definitely joined that collection of "Munchkin toys". It's not as strong as I usually prefer my toys to be, but the silicone is oh-so-soft and squeezable, and the texture is subtle but still detectable. I also love that it isn't immediately recognizable as a vibrator, so I can just throw it into my shower caddy and no one will notice.
