Pretty Fly For A Micro Vibe

Fun Factory has produced a discreet silicone vibrator that is an excellent value when compared to other silicone vibrators of this size. With three levels of vibration and a bright, fun, floral design this toy is bound to make you smile.

Use

This is really a good, quality silicone mini-vibe suitable for clit stimulation and discreet enough to drop in your purse for spontaneous orgasms away from home. It's small enough not to interfere with most positions when used by couples and makes an excellent warm-up toy. Its bright blue (or hot pink color and floral design can't help but make you feel a bit festive when you dig it out of the toy box.

This vibrator has strong, vibrations which are diffused throughout the toy as opposed to focused pinpoint vibes and should appeal to anyone who prefers this type of vibrator. It will appeal to those who are looking for quiet, discreet or waterproof toys as well. Those looking for an anal vibe or an insertion toy will probably need to keep looking.

Material / Texture

This is 100% (flame tested!) silicone and therefore non-porous, phthalates-free hypo-allergenic and latex free. It's smooth, matte silicone with plenty of drag and the floral design is raised, giving you the option to choose a smooth surface or slightly textured surface for more stimulation.

The silicone portion of this vibe is essentially a sleeve that fits over a plastic bullet vibe. The bullet end is obviously hollow to accommodate the bullet, but the other end feels solid and firm. Yet, it's still flexible and has a decent amount of give.

If lube is desired, go with a water-based lube as oil and silicone lubes are not recommended. Fun Factory even takes care of your initial lube needs by including a sample of their ToyFluid, an excellent, toy-safe, water-based lube.

Design / Shape / Size

Like the name says, this is a mini vibe. The total length is 4.5", insertable length is only 3.5". Its circumference is 3.5" and its diameter is 1". For me, this means it's well suited as a clit stimulator, but not useful as an insertable. For those who enjoy stimulating the vaginal opening or the first couple inches, this would certainly function well in that capacity.

I am particularly fond of the bright blue color of this silicone. Blue is not particularly common among sex toys and yet, one of my favorite colors, so I snapped it up.

Because this toy is compact, it is easy to store, easy to hide and travels well. Just be sure to remove the batteries because the vibrator is controlled by a push button which can easily be depressed by accident while stored in a drawer or tucked in a suitcase.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This vibe is, as I mentioned before, essentially a silicone sleeve over a small bullet vibe. You can cycle through the three distinct vibration levels using the push button on the end of the bullet. It's powered by three watch batteries (included) and is virtually silent. The vibrations are diffused through out the toy and while strong, I wouldn't define them as pinpoint vibes.

A word of warning, when opening the endcap to insert or remove the batteries, take notice of the sticker that says "Must Close Cap Tightly." I very nearly thought I had a defective product because it wasn't working after I replaced the cap. I turned the endcap as firmly as I could, seemingly not actually turning it further and yet once I pushed the button again it worked fine.

Another note of caution: There is a paper insert in the battery compartment which illustrates how the batteries should be inserted. Do not remove this insert. Doing so causes issues with the vibrator not shutting off and not responding to the push button controls. It's clearly meant to be there for a reason.

Care and Maintenance

The plastic bullet on this toy is removable, so you can sterilize the silicone sleeve by boiling, bleaching or tossing it in the dishwasher. You can also clean this with warm water and antibacterial soap or your favorite toy cleaner in between sterilizing. It is waterproof so there is no need to separate the bullet from the sleeve for basic washing.

Silicone toys have been known to react when touching other silicone toys, so use caution when storing with other silicone. I keep mine in a small satin drawstring bag stored in one of my toy boxes.

Packaging

The Micro Vibe came in the usual Fun Factory cardboard box with the magnetic clasped cover that lets you peek inside at the contents. There is a photo on the box of what is inside, so while tasteful, I am not sure it's subtle enough to get by without someone knowing it's a sextoy box. There is an instructional pamphlet that also highlights the vast selection of toys available from Fun Factory as well as a sample of Toy Fluid, their toy-safe, water-based lube.

Personal comments

I actually enjoyed this toy most when using it as a clit stimulator in combination with my Fun Factory Galan silicone vibe inserted vaginally. The combination proved to be a most intense experience, even tho each toy separately is not particularly intense.

Follow-up commentary
This toy never made it into my top ten list and I've only used it a handful of times since the review. I've always used it, as I mentioned in the review, paired with another insertable vibe to get a strong enough buzz to get off.

I still love the design, color and quality of materials for this toy, but the watch-battery vibe inside just needs to be stronger to be of regular use to me. Clits of Steel, pass this one by.

OMG! I can't believe we came up with virtually the same title for our reviews of the same toy! Oddly enough, I did not receive a sample of Toyfluid with my Fly... but it did come with batteries already inserted, which I thought was strange.

One more thing--Does your insert say to load the batteries in with positive terminal facing up? Because when I loaded them in that way, I couldn't only get the Fly to turn on, but another push and it would turn off, and then any subsequent button pushing would be futile. When I loaded them in upside-down, however, it worked fine. Have you experienced the same thing with yours?

Ha - As I was writing the review I had that Offspring song in my head, Pretty Fly for a White Guy and so that just had to be the title of the review!

As for the batteries, they came installed facing down and I believe the insert indicated that was the correct position. I did have some trouble after opening the cap, to check things out. I really had to have that cap on as tight as I could get it on for the button to work.

      I did too. I bought it and somehow the whole thing just died out. Maybe it's because we are looking for something more stronger/durable? I'll stick to the Fun Factory Bug for something on the smaller size.
