Prevail Is A Fail

Prevail would be an excellent vibrator for beginners because of its slender shaft, shorter length, and lack of texture. The toy is very attractive and supports a great cause. Prevail works well under water and would be the perfect travel companion. Sadly, Prevail is finicky and the performance of the toy is less than sub-par. While we all want to support a great cause, we also want a product that works.

Use

Prevail, by Evolved Novelties, is a traditional vibrator. Its best use would be for internal stimulation of the vagina. The toy does not have a flared base to use safely for anal play. Prevail can also be used externally on the clitoris, or other erogenous zones such as the nipples, neck, testicles, etc.

The toy seems to be marketed more towards women, but any gender could use this toy to stimulate external areas of the body. Prevail can be used for solo and/or partner play. The toy is waterproof, so it can be used in the shower and bath safely.

The slender body of Prevail makes the toy an excellent choice for beginners or those who prefer the more slender insertables. The small size of the toy is convenient for traveling. A storage case and pouch are included with Prevail, making the toy even more travel-friendly.

Material / Texture

The vibrator is made of ABS, which is plastic. The toy has a coating on it, which makes it feel very velvety and smooth to the touch. Prevail is latex-free and phthalate-free. There is no scent or taste to the vibrator. The toy does not have any drag to it when ran across the skin. The material is compatible with both water and silicone-based lubricants.

The vibrator is hard and not flexible. The only texture to the toy is the breast cancer support ribbon. This ribbon is slightly raised off of the vibrator. The raised ribbon sits less than 1/16 of an inch off of the vibrator, so it’s quite subtle.
IMG
There is a seam line that runs horizontally around the top of the vibrator. This seam is approximately 3/4 of an inch down from the tip of the vibrator. This seam is quite subtle as well and cannot be felt when inserted. The texture of the toy would work well for both beginners and advanced toy users. Those who prefer intense textures to their toys may find that Prevail is too subtle for them.

Design / Shape / Size

Prevail is available in the colours black or white. There is a hot pink breast cancer support ribbon design on the vibrator. The ribbon is only slightly raised off of the vibrator, providing very minimal texture. The appearance of the toy is very attractive.

The toy is quite small in regards to length and circumference. The total length of the toy is approximately 6 1/2 inches, with only 4 3/4 inches being insertable. The toy can be inserted a bit further, but once the toy is inserted past the 4 3/4 inches, the battery compartment begins.

The circumference of the shaft ranges from 2 5/8 inches to 3 1/4 inches. The largest circumference to the shaft is approximately 1 1/2 inches beneath the tip of the vibrator. This area is the widest to the vibrator, as it slightly bulges outwards. The circumference is smallest 2 3/4 inches down from the tip of the vibrator, and continues with the same circumference of 2 5/8 inches down the rest of the shaft. The tip of the vibrator comes to a rounded point.

The size is non-intimidating, which makes it perfect for those who are just beginning to use toys. The size would work nicely for the more advanced toy user as well if they prefer the shorter, thinner toys. The small size of the toy makes it very easy to hide by tucking it in a drawer or bag. It is suitable for travel, and even comes with both a storage pouch and container! Below is a size comparison photo of the toy beside a 500mL bottle of water.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Prevail requires 2 AAA batteries, which are not included. The battery compartment is located at the very bottom of the vibrator. Twisting the very bottom of the vibrator off accesses the compartment. It’s very simple to both open and close the cap. There is a clear O-ring around the compartment, which ensures that no water leaks into it when using it in a setting with water. Just be sure to close the cap tightly before bringing it in the bath or shower.
IMG
There are 2 buttons to the toy. There is one button on each side of the battery compartment. Either button can be used when using the toy, since they both do the same thing. Having a button on both the left and right hand side allows the user to choose which is most comfortable for them. The buttons light up a blue colour when the toy is on.

To turn the toy on, simply press either button once. When the toy is turned on you’ll be met with a low, constant vibration. There are 5 different functions to Prevail. Clicking the button allows you to cycle through the functions. The functions are as follows:

1. Low, constant vibration
2. Medium, constant vibration
3. High, constant vibration
4. Pulsating, fast pulses
5. Escalating from low to high and then repeats

Once you’ve reached the fifth function, pressing the button again will bring you back to the low, constant vibration. Holding the button down for 4 seconds will turn the toy off. There is no memory to the toy, so if you turn the toy off and then back on, you’ll be back at the first function regardless of which one you had left off with.

The vibrations are more buzzy than rumbly. The vibrations can be felt throughout the entire shaft, but are strongest in the bulged area near the top of the toy. The bulged area where the vibrations can be felt most are in the top 2 3/4 inches of the toy. The vibrations, on the highest power level, are only moderate. The highest level of vibration is a 3 out of 5 vroom level. The noise level isn’t whisper quiet, but it should not be heard from beneath the blankets through a closed door.

The toy works well when submerged in water. The clear O-ring prevents water from getting into the compartment. Just be sure to have the lid done up tightly.

Care and Maintenance

Caring for Prevail is very easy, because there isn’t much texture and it is waterproof. To clean the toy you can use soap and water, toy wipes, or a toy cleaning spray. You can also wipe the vibrator with a bleach/water solution or rubbing alcohol to sanitize it. The storage container or pouch would be excellent to use to store the toy when it’s not in use.

Packaging

Prevail arrived in a thin, rectangular plastic package. The packaging is very pretty. The front states the product name, has an image of a breast cancer support ribbon, and has numerous pink swirled designs. The packaging is clear, but you don’t see the toy inside since it is sitting inside of a carrying case.
IMG
The back of the packaging states how a portion of the proceeds are donated to the "save the tat-tas foundation.” The back also states a few features of the toy and the directions for use. Each side of the packaging has a photo of the toy.

While the packaging does not have images of naked models on it, it isn’t completely discreet. The attractive plastic packaging can be used for storing the toy, or it can be recycled. As mentioned, the toy sits inside of a carrying case within the plastic packaging. This carrying case is solid black in colour, with no text or images on it. The case is very discreet. Inside of the carrying case, the toy is in a black drawstring storage pouch.

Experience

My overall experience with Prevail wasn’t that good. I was playing around with the toy for 20 minutes or so, and it was working nicely. I found the buttons really easy to use. After those first 20 minutes, the buttons started acting fickle. I had a hard time getting the vibrator to change functions by clicking the button. I’d have to press the button numerous times in hopes that I’d be able to get to the next setting. When the vibrator became finicky like this, I also had a hard time turning the toy off by holding the button down for 4 seconds.

After about 15 minutes of the vibrator being fickle, I decided to change the batteries. I had put brand-new batteries in when I first tried the toy, but I had thought that maybe it was a battery guzzling toy. I replaced the batteries twice, with brand new batteries, and could no longer turn the toy on. I tried each button numerous times but it is almost as if the toy has completely died.

Normally I would assume that something like this means that the product I received was defective, but for the first 20 minutes or so it was working perfectly. I tried a bunch of times to get the vibrator working, but it just won’t turn on anymore. I must have opened and closed the battery compartment too many times, because after numerous attempts, the clear O-ring snapped and fell off. Luckily I had already submerged the toy in water to see if it works prior to the ring breaking off.

The death of the vibrator really disappointed me, but at the same time, the vibrations were not strong enough for me to begin with. I am a power-queen so I need those earth-shaking, rumbly vibrations. This vibrator just doesn’t have that. That being said, the vibrator would be best suited for those who are satisfied with the more buzzy vibrations and only moderate power on the highest setting.

I’ve given the vibrator a 2 out of 5 because the buttons are too fickle and I can no longer turn the toy on. Also, the fact that the vibrations are weak and more buzzy is disappointing. It’s an attractive looking toy that supports a good cause but the performance is inadequate.

Thanks for the awesome review! I didn't realize the association with breast cancer at first, it just looked like a swirled design so thanks for including that info.
