Purple Monster Nightmare of a Vibrator

The Groovies Slimline was a large disappointment, especially after just trying the Groovies Wave which was much better. This vibrator is weak and does not have consistent vibrations. The construction is poor and it isn't even worth the cheap price.

Use

I really didn't have high hopes for this since it is from Shaki Toys and I had another vibrator of theirs totally fail on me, but again, it was free, so I decided to give it a try. I was right...this sucked! The vibrations wavered and were not steady and the construction is poor. Don't even accept this if it is free! It's a waste of materials. Go for the other choice if you have one. I honestly only want to recommend this to women who like hard straight shafts without needing vibrations.

Material / Texture

The Groovies Slimline is made of what feels to be a cheap plastic. It is a pretty lavender color, I'll give it that. The velvety texture is nice as well. This plastic, although cheap feeling, is safe for the body by being free of harmful chemicals like phthalates. It is also hypo-allergenic and latex free. The plastic does have a slight plastic smell, but it is slight and not noticeable unless you put it literally under your nose. Plastic is non-porous but it cannot be sterilized, so a condom is still recommended for sharing. Good news is that a condom easily fits on this vibrator.

Design / Shape / Size

This vibrator is pretty much as tradition in shape as they come. It is a good length (a bit over what I would consider average for this type) and girth. It is 7 1/2" long with about 6" of that being insertable. I'd say that the length is good for most women. The girth might not be though. It is 3 3/4" in circumference. It can be felt of course, but won't fill. The tip is gradually rounded for easy insertion.

The last inch or so screws off to reveal the battery compartment. Here I could see glue and a messy job of putting this together. There is a silver ring here as well and it was faded already. It looked like it had been used actually. I'm sure it is just a bad paint job, but it still doesn't look pleasing. The very bottom of the toy is a turn dial for the controls. It turns nicely, which was a surprise to me. I expected it to turn way to easily, like the other vibe I used to have from this company.

Since this is so traditional in shape, it isn't very discreet. However, since it doesn't collect dust and is very light in weight, it is pretty good for travel.

Functions / Performance / Controls

To use the toy, unscrew the bottom, remove the paper insert that shows how to put the batteries in, and place two AA batteries in. Then turn the base to turn it on. There are three speeds, but really it feels more like two-medium low and a really loud and clangy medium. The noise turned me off right away. I don't like to be distracted when I'm trying to get my jollies off! The vibrations are buzzy and not felt throughout the vibrator. I could barely feel either on my clit. This didn't do anything for me. It was okay as a simple penetration device, but I can rarely finish from just that. I doubt I'll ever use this again.

This vibrator claims to be waterproof, but to be honest, I doubt its waterproof construction too much to try it. I would use caution when taking this to the shower.
    • Easy to use
    • Not discreet at all

Care and Maintenance

Remove the batteries after use and wipe this down with a toy cleaner and cloth or wash with warm water and soap. you can use any kind of lubricant with this toy, although water based does the trick just fine.
To store put back in the package, or even just by itself.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The package is a simple, plastic, clam shell. It is not much larger than the toy and has no images. The abck has a bit of information about the toy-pretty much everything you need to know other than this toy is a waste of money and materials.

Follow-up commentary
As you probably already guessed, this vibrator got ditched almost immediatly. I don't recommend it for anyone unless they want a straight, plastic, non-vibrating probe.

I got this in my package yesterday and when I put the batteries in and twisted the compartement back on the whole friggin top part came off revealing the metal vibrating shaft. It's full of glue and shit and can't be used or anything. Like seriously... FAIL.

I got this in my package and wasn't even expecting it. I haven't even opened it because it looks like a dollar store quality vibe. I'll probably toss it after reading this.

I am so glad I did not get this. Great review!

I received this one for free and the dial is SUPER sensitive. You can practically blow on it and it moves! I store it upright so it doesn't risk rolling and turning on. Of course, if you take the batteries out every time, there's no risk of it turning on accidentally, but how many of us remember to do that all the time?
  • Contributor: ~LaUr3n~
@Passion, I heard that from others too and that is how my other similar one was as well. I was surprised this one wasn't.

I was frustrated with this, But did end up enjoying it enough to add to my bedside drawer Mostly for some vaginal play, too much work for any kind of clitoral stimulation, not sure if any one else experience that weird "Honking" noise but it was very annoying
  • Contributor: ~LaUr3n~
I agree, too much work clitorally. The vibrations were shotty. Honking? Hmm...nope.
  • Contributor: KinkyLadii
Haha I pressed it against my Clit and it made the weirdest noise, like the cheap plastic was being pushed into something causing the noise, Next time you have it out try it. Talk about killing the mood.

And I was so excited to get something for free with my order
  • Contributor: ~LaUr3n~
@Ladii A. I have quite a few toys that make that noise!

I was excited to get this with my order too, but after reading some of the reviews, I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't be in a rush to order a toy.
  • Contributor: SweetyWench
Yep, I can agree on the cheap quality and weak vibrations of this product.
