Rock of love!

Mimi is a joy to own. She is small, quiet, rechargeable and waterproof. Now if I could only get her to clean my house, she'd be perfect!
Published: January 20, 2011
Pros:
small, discreet, powerful, pretty colors
Cons:
not much for pin point stimulation

extremely useful review

Use

Je Joue is known for their line of high end pleasure products, and the Mimi has absolutely joined the up scale ranks. She is billed as, "your perfect first toy," and I absolutely agree. Mimi is small, discreet, waterproof, rechargeable, and strong. She fits easily in the palm of your hand, has a variety of vibration settings, and comes in enough colors to please anyone's tastes. Though Mimi says she's for beginners, advanced users will appreciate her as well for her versatility, style, portability, and ease of use.

Mimi is a clitoral stimulator and is designed for external use only. Her small size and powerful vibrations feel great on the clitoris, labia, perineum, taint, shaft, nipples, and even on sore shoulders and necks. And unlike some other vibrators, she works amazingly well with a partner. The entire unit vibrates so you can use any point for stimulation, and the design allows you to use as much pressure as you want without losing vibration strength.

Take Mimi in the tub, in your bag, or on a plane. She goes where you go, and you won't be sorry you came!

Material / Texture

Mimi is made of a smooth, phthalate free, latex free, food grade 100% silicone. Like most silicone toys, she has a slight drag against bare skin but glides easily with water based lube. The texture of the Mimi is luscious and velvety and is really where the sensual pleasure with her begins. Just rubbing her between your fingers lets you know how nice she's going to feel everywhere else.

Under the silicone coating, there appears to be a hard, plastic shell. This means Mimi is very firm and has no give, and this also makes her great for the toy grinders among us.

Mimi has no smell or taste, and she is also nonporous.
    • No odor
    • Rigid
    • Smooth

Design / Shape / Size

Mimi, as many have said, looks like a massage stone, but I also find her reminiscent of a large tongue in shape and feel in use. The Mimi is about two inches wide at her widest point and a little over 3 inches long. The design starts larger at the base and tapers down to a rounded point on the other end. The base end houses the two metal on/off buttons in a plastic molding, and both the plastic and buttons sit flush with the curve of the Mimi. An inch below the base on the front of Mimi, the Je Joue logo is embossed into the silicone, but it is not at all noticeable in use. The joined hearts design in the logo conceals a small red light that blinks or glows steady when the Mimi is charging. The tip of the Mimi is still quite wide and smooth and does not offer pinpoint stimulation easily. You can find the sweet spot with her, but it is broad and flat moving over your clitoris or other parts. If you enjoy oral sex with a kick, the Mimi is perfect, but if you require constant pinpoint stimulation, you may be disappointed.

That said, the Mimi fits snugly in the palm of your hand, and you can use it without your arm getting tired or cramping your hand. I also love the magnetic charger that attaches to the Mimi. No more rubber caps and plugs! Just attach the magnet to the Mimi, plug in, and go.
    • Discreet look/design
    • Ergonomic

Functions / Performance / Controls

As I said before, there are two buttons at the top of the Mimi for on and off. Push and hold the + button for 2 seconds to turn on, and Mimi will begin vibrating at her lowest level. The red light in the logo will glow to indicate the Mimi is on. Press and hold the - button for 2 seconds and she's back off. When Mimi is on, pushing the plus button once will scroll it through one of 5 steady vibration settings, and the light will blink to show you have changed settings. The first vibration setting is very low, but they gradually increase to a nice, strong, intermediate level buzz. I'd say it's a little less strong than the Form 2, but pretty close.

Once you've cycled through the steady vibrations, you begin one of 5 patterns: long pulse, short pulse, roller coaster, fast revving, and faster revving. When you reach the last pulse setting, pressing the + again will take you back to the first low vibration level that starts when you turn Mimi on. It is frustrating that you have to scroll through all the functions to get to the setting you want, but it doesn't really take long. The on/off buttons are also a little tough to press with one hand in use. It's doable, but it takes a firm press. I actually like that feature, though, because that makes it easier to travel with. It would be pretty difficult for something to press the button hard enough to get it going in your bag.

With all the power it packs, you would expect the Mimi to be louder than it is, but I find it remarkably quiet in use. Under the blanket with a closed door or a little background noise, no one will hear it. Mimi does have a more mechanical "motor" like sound to the vibration than some other vibes I have tried, but I don't find it that irritating.

Je Joue's manual on the Mimi does not specify total charging time or time in use. I have only had to charge it once since I got it a week ago and have used it 4 times for about 20-30 minutes each, and it is still running well, so it appears to hold a charge for quite some time. Also, the Mimi gets a little warm after 20 minutes, but it is nowhere near as warm as some of my other toys.
    • Discreet sound
    • Easy to use
    • Multiple settings

Care and Maintenance

Mimi should only be used with water based lube. Je Joue recommends washing her with regular soap and water and then drying before storage. There is no storage bag with it, so if you do not want to use the original box it came in, you will want to wrap it in cloth or a bag to keep it away from other silicone toys. But the box Mimi came in is great for storage, if you want to keep it.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The Je Joue came wrapped in a beautiful black box that ties with a satin ribbon. The vibrator sits in top on a small plastic form. When you pull the tab at the back of the form, it lifts to reveal the charger and instruction booklet underneath. The box does take up a lot of room, so if you're low on space, buy a little bag for it and the charger, but for now, I am just using the box to keep everything in one place and well protected.
    • Good for storage
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

I was excited that Mimi came with a partial charge, so I only had to wait about 90 minutes for her to have a full charge and give her a test run. Overall, I really like Mimi. I like the vibration strength, the deep plum color, and the way it feels in my hands and against my body. It did not offer as much pin point stimulation as I was expecting, but I was still able to find what worked and get off fairly quickly. I can grind on it, slip it between my partner and I, or take an extra long shower, and Mimi has performed well every time. I wish she had been around years ago so she could have been my perfect first toy!
Follow-up commentary
I am still regularly using my Mimi. I love that I can apply pressure to her without losing much in the vibration strength. I have taken on the elusive quest for my G spot and I prefer this vibe paired with my G toys since it is smooth, flat, and strong. It is tough to change the settings in use so it's best to find one and stick with it. Mimi has a permanent spot with my top shelf toys!

  • What MiMi color would you choose?
    • Which one would/did you choose!?!?
    • I chose black because my purple G-Ki was a really ugly shade of purple. I plan to buy another black MiMi (the new version) soon.
    • Mine is black. It reminded me of a river rock.

I'm confused by the way the pages are set up. I'm worried that the ones on the Mimi page might not all be the new Mimi. Call me paranoid. The new Mimi has the 3rd button, which, like the Uma and Fifi is a dedicated pattern button to scroll through the patterns. No word yet on whether the bubbling problem is fixed or if the motor is any different/stronger. Since Fifi and Uma have the exact same charging system as the original Mimi, I'm sure the charging system on the new Mimi is identical as well but have no proof of this. I really want the new Mimi though. I've been saving up points and I'm almost there!

  • Mimi - Won't seem to charge?
    • Hi All.

I got the Je Joue Mimi (original version) during the Valentine's day promo. It won't charge, though - the little red heart light just keeps blinking and blinking and never glows steady. I left it plugged in for 8 hours the first charging attempt, and 10 on the second attempt. I'm working on the third attempt to get it to charge fully as I type, but I somehow feel like it's not going to charge (again.) Has anyone else had this problem??

      Call Eden or Je Joue.
    • That generally means you aren't getting a good connection between the plates on the charger and the toy. Have you tried "repositioning" either the charger cable or toy? Usually, you'll also hear a faint high pitched whine if they aren't connected properly (but some people can't hear it).

  • New Mimi - Eden CS said within a few weeks!
    • I gave Eden Fantasys' customer service a call on Monday just to ask when (and if) they'd be getting the new Mimi (with the same pattern button as the Uma and Fifi.) They are getting the new ones in, and they're currently expecting them to be there within the next few weeks. So...I'd bet by/around March. Which is really exciting. And it also makes me determined to hold out for the new one versus buying the current one. I'm hoping that they've fixed the bubbling up silicone problem with Mimi 2.0 (this is just what I've decided to call it, haha) because that's a good part of why I haven't gotten the current model.

Who's all going to get a new Mimi? Besides me, that is?

    • Nice to know! I've been meaning to get the Mimi for awhile now. I guess I will just keep waiting until they get the new one in.

  • Charging Rechargeable Toys Around The World
    • Eden ships pretty much Worldwide, with a few exceptions. Is there a thread that talks about the differences in electrical current, and what is required for successful charging in other countries.

I was hoping those from other countries would enter into this discussion and talk about the plug style differences and experience charging rechargeable toys, and what's required as well as other tips.
    • I don't have my Mimi charging cord with me right now, but I do know that the Uma can handle something between 100-240v. I would assume that the Mimi is the same way. This means that you should be able to charge it in a country that uses a higher voltage than the U.S. does without trouble.

You may, however, need to get a plug converter. You can pick up plug converters on Amazon for next to nothing. I just picked up a few U.S. to U.K. plug converters for about $3.00 a piece.
    • My cameras charge overseas without issue, you just have to look at the charger to see if it's voltage compatible.

  • Mimi defective... help me with a choice to be made!
    • Hi there!

I recently bought a MiMi and I have a few problems that I need to figure out before I try to decide whether to return for a replacement or for a refund...

I bought this MiMi from another vendor (who will remain unnamed, because I'm not happy with them-- reminder to only order from Eden). I got it on SUPER sale (which is why I bought from them), and it arrived with a bubble in the silicone skin. As some have mentioned elsewhere in the forums, this sometimes happens when it is warm. In the case of mine, if it is even room temp this bubble happens...when it sits on the windowsill, the bubble goes away. I was thinking about returning it, but this company will make me pay for the return shipping to CANADA, so I figured it worthwhile to take into account a few more considerations before making any moves. Here are my questions:

      1) Is this worth paying to return it if there's a likely possibility that this bubble could happen again?
      2) I also notice a whirring/rattling on the lowest setting of vibration. Listening to the video reviews, it seems like this may just be standard... but I'd love to hear from those who have it.
      3) I hear there's a new MiMi coming out with the pattern button that the Uma has... I would enjoy this feature! Should I just return the one I bought and wait for the new one to come out and order that instead? There is quite a different price between the MiMi I purchased and (likely) the one I would buy with the patterns, so I want to make sure it'd really be worth it. I don't have enough Edenpoints or GCs to buy the new one at an equal price to the MiMi I bought elsewhere...

Sorry, all... I know this is a lot, but if anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it!! I'm not into talking about vibrator options with my friends at this point, so the community is my best resource. Thanks in advance!!
    • My MiMi never has any problems with developing an air bubble. I've used it for an hour straight and it got quite warm but the silicone never bubbled. I have heard others mention that though, and I find it very strange. So it's not something normal that happens with all of them.

I don't notice a whirring or rattling with my MiMi. My Uma has a bit of a rattle to it, but my MiMi doesn't.

I don't think it's worth spending any more money to get the pattern button. The old MiMi still has the patterns, you just have to scroll through the speeds to get to them. To me it makes zero difference whether there's a separate button or not. I guess that might be a benefit for some people though, especially if you were someone who absolutely loved patterns.
    • No bubbles on mine, but the lowest setting does kinda sound like a rattling. I just assumed it was because the lowest setting was so weak!

I think I would wait for the new version myself.

  • Rerelease of Mimi by Je Joue!
    • So...Je Joue updated the Mimi with the fancy new pattern button. And I've been waiting Anxiously for Eden to get it...and it sounds like they'll be getting it in roughly two weeks! I'm so excited!

But this means I have to restrain myself from getting the current one with Eden's Valentine's Day sale...bleh. I suppose I'll live.

I wonder if that means the price is going to be more also? I'm sure it will be..I've been saving and racking up points for this one for a while. I can't wait to see the new MiMi!
    • I hadn't heard about this. Great that they are adding it, as button issues seems to be the complaint most seen on this.

  • Getting MiMi in for valntines day, is it awkward to use during couples sex?
    • I am just wondering, I think this will ease my husband into the idea of using a vibrator during sex. He doesn't like anything penis shaped, for whatever reason. Is MiMi the way to go?
    • I think the Mimi is easy to use during couples play, personally. The only problem with it is that the buttons can take some getting used to.
    • My boyfriend also doesn't like anything phallic or 'bigger than he is.' The buttons do take a bit or getting used to, but I think that it is a good way to start off using toys. Have you spoken to him about it or are you going to surprise him? ;)

  • Mimi vs, Siri
    • Has anyone tried both of these? I would appreciate the comparison.
    • Quote: Has anyone tried both of these? I would appreciate the comparison.
My partner has both. You could try messaging her - link
    • No. But I've been wanting Siri. I've read reviews religiously of both as well as questioned friends that own one of the two. I've heard very little that makes me want Mimi. I keep hearing that it's weak so the only people who Mimi might be perfect for are those that like weak vibrations. Personally, if I'm gonna pay that much for a tiny vibrator, it's going to get me off every single time I use it just like most of my $30 toys do. Siri though, I'm loving the way it sounds!

I'd say it's about the size of a mac mouse.

  • Mimi: Is it the best?
    • I'd love to try this but I'd also love to get feedback first. What do you guys think?
    • this it´s just awesome
    • There are lots of reviews on the mimi and other similar products. I'd check all of them out.

It's seems like a pretty straight forward waterproof clit vibe, and I'm pretty sure it's one of the less expensive "luxury" ones. The nicest non-waterproof version out there is probably the Siri by Lelo. JJ makes three waterproof vibes that you could compare it to as well, the form 2, form 3 and form 4. The form 4 can also be inserted as well as used on the clit. Pretty sure all of the JJ's are more expensive though.

As for the Mimi, i haven't tried it for myself. I've heard mixed reviews on exactly how strong the vibration is. Naturally different people consider different things "super strong." If your ideal is level "high" on the hitachi, then your opinion of what's "way too weak" will be very different than someone who thinks the Gigi is as much oomph as you'd ever want or need.

I'd look for reviews that talk about that specifically, and see if you can't find people who are familiar with the toys you have used and like to see if the Mimi offers what you're looking for.

  • Mimi silicone bubbling up?
    • I'm on take 2 with the Mimi. The first time I received one, it worked for three or so days before the vibrations became noticeably weaker and the silicone 'bubbled' up and away from the vibrator.

My replacement just arrived in the mail. After fully charging it and using it for a 20m session, I found that the silicone had bubbled up like before. There's a distinct air pocket between the silicone and the vibrator.

Has anyone else had issues with this?
    • Half an hour later, it's sealed back up. I'm wondering if this is an overheating issue.
    • I haven't, and I've had mine for months. I don't think mine's ever been on for that long at once though. Maybe try another replacement?

  • What is the best clit massager on the market right now?
    • It's almost exhausting reading review after review after review on the many different massagers that are available to us. My question is this after reading all these reviews in your honest opinion what is your favorite massager and why do you think this?
    • After ten years, my vote is still for the Eroscillator, especially now that they've come out with the Soft Finger attachment to go with it. I think the reason I may be so fond of it is because it oscillates rather than vibrates. Most vibrators (like the Hitachi Wand) make me go numb after a short period of time. I don't have that problem with the Eroscillator.

I really like the fact that it comes with an extra long power cord that I can discretely run behind my chest of drawers beside the bed, thereby keeping it plugged in for handy access. Because it's electric, I also never have to worry about charging it ahead of time or replacing batteries at inconvenient times.
    • I actually really love the one you have linked here, the Mimi.

  • Mimi charging - another question
    • I have had the MIMI since April, and it is now my favorite toy. My question about charging is this:
I attach the charger to the bottom of MIMI, making sure i match the pins correctly. I know it is correct and charging when MIMI starts to flash a blinking red light. According to the booklet, the red light is supposed to STOP blinking and stay on once it is fully charged. For some reason, mine never stops blinking. it just keeps blinking forever till i remove the charger from it. just how long is it supposed to take to get to fully charged? do i have a defective toy, even though it seems to work fine otherwise? does anyone else have the same experience? thanks so much.
    • I think the charge time is only supposed to be a few hours, but I normally plug mine in before bed and take them off the charger in the morning when they need to be recharged. I'm not entirely sure if you have a defective product, but if it's otherwise working properly, I wouldn't worry too much about it :)
    • Charging mine new out of box over the weekend, Mimi stopped blinking within about 50 minutes. I've only charged once so far.

As with any device, it's probably best to unplug as soon as the item charged. Wastes less electricity, among other things. Rechargeable may save batteries, but we still want to be eco responsible with the electricity (and our utility bills), right? :-)

      Not forever!

The last update I have from the stock manager is that we should be receiving more over the next 1-2 business days.

The stock manager is following up with the supplier today as well. Should be another update soon!

  • MiMi Charging
    • I've used my Mimi less than a dozen times, followed the care instructions exactly, and suddenly it refuses to charge. The light doesn't come one when connected to the charger or anything. I'm near tears over the death of my favorite toy. ;( Has anyone else had this problem? For the price, I expected a longer lifespan.
    • First I have to ask the redundant question of "are you 100% positive the charging cord is plugged in right?"

Then I'm going to say that that isn't normal and shouldn't happen and if you bought it from here to submit a support ticket and try to get it exchanged.

  • Mimi colors?
    • I'm wondering some details on color from anyone who has one.

First off: is the purple as red-toned as it looks? Does the charging portal show up as differently colored as it looks in the pictures?

Secondly: is the pink as blue-toned as it looks?

Third: How about the rose? In some pictures it looks vibrantly magenta, where in others it looks matte red. Which is closer to life?
    • I own the purple one and the charger and MiMi are different colors. The charging unit is a very violet purple. The MiMi itself is more of a dark grape color.
    • I have the rose, it looks like a dusty, pinkish-red. It's not as vibrantly colored as the picture, but it's still pretty. The charger looks like the same color as the small plastic panel around the buttons, it's a little brighter than the silicone, less dusty-looking.

Is it worth sinking more money into the Eroscillator or should I just go for the MiMi? Thanks all!

@Spring: No I actuall have not, but Lucky for you, my roommate has. She's just as addicted to toys as I am. She said she personally loves her MiMi over ANY other toy right now, but the Eroscillator has excellent pinpoint stimulation - only downside is that is has the potential to hurt your clit very bad. She and I both say that MiMi is the best buy. You'll probably end up throwing a lot of your toys away after buying this one.

Oh, and the Eroscillator is more silent than the MiMi, which tends to get a little loud on the highest levels.

I am not sure how I feel about the Eroscillator without trying the Eroscillator ultra soft finger tip attachment. I am debating whether to get the additional attachment for the Eroscillator or spend my money on the MiMi instead. Is it worth sinking more money into the Eroscillator or should I just go for the MiMi? Thanks all!
My ex had the eroscillator, we used it just once and I loved it!

  • I need some FAST help with MiMi. Anyone care to give me a hand?
    • So, I read a few reviews and found that MiMi is a hard toy to get pinpoint stimulation with. It was very contradicting because others said the complete opposite. I've never used anything but a thin vibrator for clit stimulation, so this flat-ish toy is starting to worry me. Especially since I already purchased it!

Can someone let me know what area that the vibration is most intense? The tip, center, sides, etc? This would really help me out. I suppose I could always keep it as a good neck/back massager if it fails my clit, but I really wanted to use it for my sexy-time :( lol

It sounds like you just need to experiment a little to find what works for you, NOT what the reviews say.
    • The vibrations do seem to be focused more in the general tip area, but the whole thing vibrates. I would go with NarcissisticLust and experiment for yourself to see how it works best for you because that could be completely different than how it works best for me, or anybody else who might have reviewed it. On a side note, it is nice as a neck/back massager, so if it doesn't work as well as you'd hoped for your sexy time, go ahead and use it for back rubs.

Thanks, I did like a month ago, seems like EF has problems restocking products? At least that's what I've read in the forums and in comments on other products, one comment I had read a customer waited for 5 months for a product. That just doesn't sit well with me, I really don't want to shop anywhere else but might not have a choice :@ It's just frustrating

  • Mimi vs. Form 2
    • Can't decide which one I want more, which is your favorite and why? Also curious about which has the least vibration going into your fingers/hand, Thanks!
    • oh god.

      um.

      shit.

      well.
      okay.

The MiMi made my hand vibrate less. And it has a better battery life. But the Form 2 has interesting vibrations because of the dual motor thing.

But I really enjoy them both, in different ways.

Good lord, don't make me pick.

lol, thanks for the reply. That's good to know that mimi is better on the vibrations going into your hand, that always bothers me... it's not a deal breaker tho. I had thought form 2 would be better about it because of how it looks thicker/rounder at the end. I had gotten Siri awhile back and liked her alot but she just wasnt strong enough and it sucks that shes not waterproof. Any suggestions on other toys are welcome =)

  • MiMi vs. Hitachi
    • Hey, all! I recently sold my Hitachi to a friend, and bought a MiMi while it was on sale.
Now, I'm one of those girls with a clit o steel, and most of the time when I was close to orgasm I would flip the hitachi to high and then be able to orgasm.

Now, my question is... is the MiMi pretty strong? I'm not wanting something that's like the Hitachi's HIGH all the time, but something around the LOW setting on the hitachi (maybe a little higher) would be nice.
      Thanks, guys!
    • I would like to know this answer as well, because I don't have either one, but want them both along with several others. I would like a very good comparison chart that would help me decide on the "perfect" one for me.
    • MiMi on its highest setting is MUCH weaker than the Magic Wand on its low setting. When I first started using MiMi I found that it wasn't strong enough for me. But its so convenient so I kept trying it. Now it is strong enough. There's hope for softening the clit o'steel.

  • MiMi vs. G-Ki Vibration Intensity/Pitch
    • I'm wondering how the vibrations of the MiMi compare to Je Joue's other product, the G-Ki. The reason why I ask is because I've tried the G-Ki but did not like the type of vibrations it had at all—too buzzy and high-pitched for my taste, although they are moderately strong.

I'm afraid that because they are the same brand, the vibrations might be the same. Anyone tried both and can compare? Also, does it get hot very quickly like the G-Ki?
    • I haven't tried the G-Ki, but I do have MiMi and I find the vibrations to be pretty rumbly. Not the deepest I have felt, but I definitely wouldn't describe them as buzzy. I'm also interested in seeing replies from anyone who has tried both, since I've been thinking about getting the G-Ki soon.
    • My fiancee and I find the vibrations of the MiMi to be pretty low-pitched. We have never tried the G-Ki before, though.

  • Cleaning
    • I love my mimi. It is an amazing vibrator. I was curious as far as cleaning, is it okay to clean it with toy wipes? I know it says soap and water is okay. I just wanted to be sure so I am not hurting my favorite toy :) Thanks so much.
    • Yes, toy wipes are ok to use with mimi. Just dry her well before you put her away.
    • Okay thanks so much! I just love her and don't want to damage her. I just wanted to make sure :) Thanks so much.

  • what products is it most like?
    • Is this comparable to the jimmyjane form 2 or form 3?
    • NikkiM
I chose MiMi over Form 2 or 3 for few reasons... The tone of MiMis vibration is a few notes lower than form which definitely gives it a deeper resonation. And if the $$$$ matters to you... MiMi is considerably less expensive.
    • Personally, I would say to avoid the form 2. I've had nothing but problems with it glitching, so won't recommend spending money on it.

It should last few hours but based on functions used it could vary.
