Rock your body with the OhMiBod!

Although there are a couple of drawbacks to this toy, on the whole it is a fun and unique toy to own. There's nothing quite like feeling the rhythms of your favourite songs in a whole new way! It's a great toy no matter what your comfort level -- from beginners to pros, the OhMiBod has something to please everyone.

Use

I was beyond excited when I first heard about the OhMiBod. Sex toys and music -- together? Yes, please!

First (and perhaps, to some people, most importantly), this baby is quiet. Perfect for people dealing with the roommate situation! Despite the low sound level, though, the OhMiBod packs a punch vibration-wise. The stimulation offered definitely makes the OhMiBod worth the price.

One of my favourite aspects of the OhMiBod is that, while you can use the OhMiBod to "rock out" with your favourite tunes, it also offers a range of different vibration patterns, so you can use it without an iPod/mp3 player, as well. So, if your mp3 player gives up the ghost, there's no need to go without your trusty OhMiBod!

Although this toy could technically be used for both clitoral and vaginal stimulation, I personally found it a little too thin for vaginal play. Of course, everyone's taste is different!

I think this toy would be a good starting point for a beginner because of its simple shape, easy-to-clean material and slender size. However, I think that the price would be somewhat prohibitive for a beginner!

Material / Texture

This vibrator is made of smooth plastic; this makes it very easy to clean, but does not add anything to the sensations. For a vibrator touted as being technologically advanced, the plastic makes it feel like something very basic, something a beginner would use.

Design / Shape / Size

I wasn't a big fan of the design of the OhMiBod. Again, it felt much too basic for such a supposedly advanced toy. And for me, it just wasn't thick enough to provide much vaginal stimulation, although it does a good job with clitoral stimulation.

It is very easy to hide this toy, using the included pink storage bag. Toss it in a drawer, and voila! No one needs to know your secret. Ditto with traveling -- stick this toy into a corner of your suitcase and you're good to go.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Unlike some vibrators which only feature vibration at the tip, this toy vibrates all over. It comes with two endcaps -- one for use with an iPod or other mp3 player, and one for use of the vibrator alone. The endcap for non-mp3 use features two buttons (one for on/off, one to cycle through the various vibration patterns). The buttons are very easy to use, although I must offer one word of caution: Be careful you don't mix up the two! There's nothing as frustrating as really getting into your groove, reaching down to move to the next vibration style -- and instead, accidentally hitting the "off" button!

Care and Maintenance

The OhMiBod is exceptionally easy to care for. Because it's made of plastic, all that's really required is a bit of soap and water (but be careful not to get it in the battery compartment!). In terms of storage, the included pink storage bag keeps the toy safe from nicks and scratches.

    • I just purchased this couple days ago and got it today. I tried to plug it in to my iphone and the top cap got super hot. Is it suppose to do this? I got nervous and took it off and the batteries out. Help!!!

      the unit should not heat up like that when plugged in. one of the reasons that it would do this is if the batteries were placed in the device backward causing a short in the circuitry that converts the audio signal into a higher dc power signal for the motor. always use the standard non headphone cover and test to see if the unit works before using the headphone adapter.

      if the unit does not work with the standard cover the batteries might be in wrong, once it works with the standard cap switch to the music cap and try a source like a mp3 player/PC/ something with a standard headphone jack. the iphones have a bit of a different headphone jack style with an extra set of contacts for the iphone headsets so if the jack does not go fully in may cause a short in the vibrator.

      I think this would be good for parties, especially if there's music. There's a version of the OhMiBod that actually picks up the ambient sound in a room -- you might want to have a look at that one!
    • To me, it seems like that would be a better use than in private. Seems like the novelty would wear off if you only used it alone.

    • Yeah, it can. The only thing that the OhMiBod "links" into is your headphone jack. If it can take a headphone jack, you're good.
