Shimmer and shine sex toy review

Overall a great vibrator, and pretty to boot! It packs a lot of punch on with just one little battery, which saves trouble and money. Don't let the sticky power knob frustrate you; I highly recommend this toy.

Let me just say to start with, I am a huge fan of bright colors, which is why I chose this product to begin with. I ordered the vibe in purple, and it is BRIGHT. It’s a gorgeous iridescent color and I love it.

That aside, I guess practical considerations are more important. The vibe is about four inches long, made of your standard hard plastic, and has a control knob on one end. I’m personally a big fan of hard plastic if I’m going to use a vibe for clitoral stimulation, because it’s easier to clean.

This is not a great tool for penetration simply because it’s not very big, and also I find it a bit too pointy and hard to get thrust into such delicate areas. As a clitoral stimulator|Clitoral vibrators and clit stimulation toys, though, I give it a standing ovation. It takes one AA battery, but don’t let that fool you, this baby’s got kick. I was certainly not disappointed by how much punch this thing packs.

The control knob on the side adjusts setting, on a kind of smooth scale from low to high, rather than real specific “1,2,3” type power settings. This can be a lot of fun during partner play, as your mate can inch up the power as you go along rather than abrupt shifts.
One drawback is the knob doesn’t like to turn, so you have to work a little to up the power, and sometimes that can put a damper on the fun if you have to stop and fiddle with the power knob. It may loosen up with use, but I’ve used this a dozen or so times and am still having difficulty, so it’s something to keep in mind.

The vibe comes with a bottle of flavored lube which, in the case of my purple one, was “boysenberry” flavored. I’m not sure what a boysenberry tastes like, but this basically tasted like generic fruit-flavored sugar-candy. I’m not a big advocate of flavored lubricants|Flavored lubricants simply because I’m never really sure what to do with it, but I tasted it for knowledge’s sake and it actually tastes pretty good. If you like flavored lube, this one is a good pick. The lube itself actually shimmers, which I think is really fun!

Overall, I’m a fan. This vibe is a great clitoral stimulator|Traditional vibrators: Shimmer and shine and the colors are really pretty. I’m very happy with it, and it’s my new primary toy.
Follow-up commentary
I've had this vibe for about six weeks now, and while it's still working great, the finish is starting to come off. Part of why I picked this over a different, more plain vibrator was because I like the iridescent color, so the fact that it's rubbing off is a little frustrating.

I'm very satisfied with the function, but not too thrilled with the look of it right now. The loss of the shiny finish makes it look a little cheap.

I would be interested to know if the iridescence wears off with time.

Me too. I've noticed that to be a common theme in toys that look like this.

The lube shimmers? Does it have glitter in it? Or oil?

Also, has the paint on the toy started to chip off or wear away?
