The twist - traditional vibrator discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Buttercup Green

Twist is a simple traditional vibrator. There aren't any significant curves to help stimulate the G-spot or P-spot, so I think this would be best for those who can easily have vaginal or anal orgasms. The tip has the slightest tilt to it, but it is nothing that will give most people a G-spot orgasm. I can usually have G-spot orgasms with most toys, but this one was a fail in that department for me. The base of the dildo is slightly flared, so I don't see a problem with using this toy anally. It doubles as a anal and vaginal vibrator. In fact, the vibrations feel a lot more intense and amazing during anal than vaginal play. Thanks to the silicone material, this toy can definitely be used for both because it can be sterilized by boiling the silicone sleeve. It is best to use this for solo or partner play. Unfortnately, silicone doesn't work like glass in the temperature play department. It is waterproof though, so feel free to drag this into the tub with you for a relaxing bubble bath. The noise output is easily drowned out with background noises, so those living in dorms or with roommates should be able to use this with no problems.

The blue sleeve is made of silicone. This material is body safe in that it is latex and phthalates free. More importantly, it is hypo-allergenic and non-porous. Those are just fancy ways of saying that this toy will not harbor bacteria, which is perfect for those that share toys with a partner. Silicone can also be sanitized by boiling and other methods. The Twist came without any offending smells or tastes, and it is has absolutely no seams! The head is firm but it has a little give to it, but the shaft is hollow on the inside and therefore very bendy. Silicone can only be used with water based lubricants. The Twist's shaft is covered in raised swirls, and the phallic head has some realistic ridges. There is the Doc Johnson name etched into the flared base of the sleeve. The silicone tends to retain smells, but this is easily fixed by properly cleaning the toy. The material has a lot of drag to it, and it collects things like dust and pet hair like crazy.
The bullet is silver in color, and it is made of ABS Plastic. The plastic material is also non-porous and hypo-allergenic as well as latez/phthalates free. The bullet has a shiny finish to it, and it is also very smooth. It doesn't have any smells or tastes. Just like the silicone sleeve, the bullet has no seams. Unlike the sleeve, the plastic material is super rigid and cannot be flexed, and it does not have any drag.

Twist is a unique spin on a realistic dildo/vibrator. The head of the dildo is phallic shape and is very realistic. The head has some skin wrinkles and such underneath the head, and it even has a small pee hole. The shape of the head is very mushroom-like (just like a normal penis). The head is complete with a wonderful ridge. I have not had this ridge cause any painful catching on my pubic bone, and it does not really create any kind of popping sensations vaginally as the head and ridge are on the smaller side. Anally, however, the head feels amazing when being inserted or removed.
The shaft, however, is not realistic at all. Instead, it is covered in tightly coiled swirls. The swirls are raised just enough to feel them during thrusting, but I cannot feel them individually. To me, it feels like the texture just melts together. The space between each swirl is small, and they tend to trap fluids. The head of the dildo is very firm as it is made completely of silicone. The body is made of silicone, but the inside is hollow since this is where the long bullet is inserted. If using this without the bullet, you might run into some issues during heavy thrusting as the hollow shaft buckles easily under pressure. The bullet is long, slim, and silver in color. It fits well between two bodies when using it for clitoral stimulation. Unfortunately, this isn't a very discreet toy thanks to the head. It is small enough that some may want to travel with it though. The texture is suitable for anyone and so is the slim diameter. Overall, this affordable toy can be used by everyone.

This toy only has three speeds: low, medium, high. All of the settings are steady vibrations. There aren't any pulsation patterns or anything like that. It runs on two AAA batteries. Yes, it also accepts rechargeables as well. The battery life is a tiny bit less than average, but I also use mine on high constantly. You could get better battery life if you used it on medium or low most of the time. There is a nice batttery holder in the compartment that makes battery insertion and removal very simple. The batteries can be stored in this holder. This way you can just grab the holder and pop it in the toy whenever you want to play. There is a single, black push button on the bottom of the bullet that controls the vibrations. Simply press the button to cycle through all three speeds. There is no quick way to shut it off besides cycling through all of the speeds or screwing the cap off. The bullet itself is a little on the loud side, but it is pretty quiet once it is inserted into the dildo. Either way, I doubt you would be able to hear it through a closed door.
The bullet has a nice O ring that makes this waterproof, and it actually works well in water enviroments (shower,tub). The vibrations are on the buzzy and weak side, but it is not as bad as the bullet that came with my Icicles No. 35. The cool thing about this toy is that the bullet can be used separately from the dildo, and it can be used to stimulate the clit or anywhere on the body. I would not insert the bullet anally, as it is very small and could very easily get sucked up in there. The bullet can also be used to turn the dildo into a vibrating machine. Simply insert the bullet into the hole of the dildo. The vibrations carry well into the shaft but not so much the head. Keep in mind that the silicone dampens the vibrations quite a bit, so it will not be as powerful when compared to the bullet by itself. This could bother some people. I would either lube up the bullet or squirt some lube into the dildo's hole before inserting the bullet. Otherwise, it will be a pain in the butt to remove the bullet from the dildo.

The one cool thing about this is that the silicone sleeve can be sanitized by various methods. These methods include boiling it for about 5-10 minutes, wiping it down with a 10% bleach solution, or sticking it in the top rack of your dishwasher without any soap. This makes this toy perfect for sharing or for pulling double duty as an anal and vaginal toy. If you plan on doing either of these in the same session, I still suggest putting a condom over the toy. Of course you can also clean it with toy wipes, toy cleaners, or warm water and antibacterial soap for fast, everyday cleanings. The swirled texture is cool, but it also collects a lot of fluids. It usually takes about 5-10 minutes for me to completely clean it.
The silicone is a little grabby, so it will not hesitate to pick up every bit of lint and pet hair around. For this reason, I highly suggest quickly washing it down before use. The original packaging is your best bet in terms of storing the toy. If you don't have room for it, a Ziploc bag will do in a pinch.

Although the toys are made of superior and luxurious materials, the packaging is common and kind of lackluster. Itcomes in your typical Doc Johnson clam shell packaging. The entire toy (both the sleeve and bullet) can be seen, so it is not discreet at all. The inside of the packaging has a paper insert that gives basic and generic information about the toy. There is also a little paper fold that shows the user how to insert the batteries. I have to give Doc Johnson credit because the packaging does not contain any nude photos or crude language. I would keep the packaging unless you have something else to store the toy in.
