Impulse butterfly platinum collection - rabbit vibrator discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by LuLu Love

The Impulse Butterfly Platinum Collection is a very pleasurable rabbit toy. It is designed to provide both vaginal and clitoral stimulation. It is not curved for G-spot stimulation but the rotation of the head and shaft can provide some level of stimulation, especially if you thrust it upward. The butterfly contains a powerful, moderately loud, clit stimulator with seven modes of vibration. The shaft has three rows of rotating metal beads and the head gently rotates with three speeds. There is no vibrator in the shaft or head but it is very noisy. The first time I turned it on it reminded me of a juicer (no pun intended). Because of the noise this toy needs more than just a closed door or a shower. If you are concerned about people in the next room hearing it, the Impulse Butterfly may not be for you.

The Impulse Butterfly is made out of TPE and plastic. The control box is made from a hard plastic and the rest of the toy is TPE. The TPE has a fair amount of drag to it so be sure to use lube; water or silicone are compatible. Because the TPE is clear, you can see the metal and plastic mechanisms inside the toy. The material that makes up the head is quite thick while the material over the rotating metal beads is so thin that you can compress it completely flat. I would assume that the reason behind thinning out the material is so that the feeling of the rotating metal balls comes through more.

I have not noticed any type of smell with this toy which is a big plus for me. When I first received the toy out of the box the TPE was crystal clear but after one use and wash it has become foggy. I used a water based lube and washed it with warm water and a mild soap. This is my first TPE toy so maybe it’s a property of the material.

Both the length and circumference of the Impulse Butterfly are fantastic. It’s on the smaller size so both beginners and those who prefer toys on the smaller size will enjoy it. The butterfly clit stimulator is about 2 inches in length and is equipped with both antennae and wings. The height of the antennae above the shaft is only about an inch so those who have a wider span between vagina and clit will have to help the butterfly out in reaching the right spot. This is okay though because the material is very flexible and durable and doing so will cause no damage. In fact, the flatter you get the butterfly against yourself the better. The antennae wrap around your clit and the wings provide vibrations to your vulva. One downside to having to position the clit stimulator is when you pull the toy back out the butterfly will lie down again.

The shaft is obviously meant to resemble a penis since it has a very defined head. I haven’t noticed any extra sensations from the shape so it's probably just for looks.

The control box isn’t square with sharp edges like some rabbits I have seen. Instead it has comfortable contours that are easy to hold on to.

There are five buttons and four LED lights located on the control box. They are flush against the toy so finding the right one isn’t always the easiest task. They do have some texture and shape so when you have used the toy a few times you’ll be able to find the button you’re looking for.

The top button is the “ON/OFF” button. It controls only the vibrations and not the rotation. As soon as you press this button the LED on the left will light up and vibrations will start. Press it again and the vibrations will stop.

The second button is labeled as “7” and controls the seven levels of vibration of the clitoral stimulator. The first three levels are simply low, medium, and high. After that are four more patterns that include pulsating and escalating modes. Clicking all the way through the settings brings it back to the beginning; it doesn’t turn it off. On the left the LED indicator light mimics what the vibrations are doing; green for low, orange for medium, and red for high speeds. I love these lights when I’m using this toy with a partner. If he wants to know what setting it’s on, the lights imitate it perfectly.

Next is a button labeled “HOT”. No, no it doesn’t get hot sorry. What it does do is randomly select a vibration setting. It affects only the clitoral vibrator and not the rotations. It’s a fun feature.

On the bottom are two arrow buttons; one faces up and the other down. These control the speed of rotation of the beads and the head. There are three settings and are displayed on the right by three orange LED lights that sequentially light up as speed is increased. It’s important to remember that the rotations are entirely independent of the vibrations. This is because the “ON/OFF” button will NOT turn off the rotations. If you need to turn off your juicer quick you have to push the “ON/OFF” button to stop the vibrations then push the down arrow up to three times depending on how high you have it.

The Impulse Butterfly takes 4 AAA batteries. The battery compartment contains a battery case that is super easy to remove and load. While you have the cap unscrewed you can see the gasket on the toy that makes it waterproof. When you replace the batteries and screw the cap back on you will notice it start to tighten. Make sure you have it screwed down so that it completely closes that gap. The fastest way to de-waterproof a toy is to leave the cap unscrewed. Also if you need to open it after you take it out of the water, give it a quick dry off and make sure it’s off.

You can use either water or silicone based lubes with the Impulse Butterfly.

To clean this toy, use warm water and a toy cleaner or a mild soap; do not boil TPE toys. It's waterproof so don't worry about getting it wet! TPE is more porous than silicone so be sure to use a condom if you’re going to be sharing. I have also noticed that the material eats fuzz, dust, and hair so keep it somewhere where it won’t get covered in dust or make sure to keep it clean.
