Sphere - vibrator by NMC Ltd - review by Red

The Sphere is a dual stimulation vibrator - a new take on the old boring rabbit. It's a beautifully simple idea, really - take a good insertable and add in the clitoral stimulator in the form of a big squishy arm that aims at and pounds down on the general area where the clit will be for many women. Genius, if you ask me. In addition, the vibrator can be used creatively in a number of different ways, anatomy dependent, and really isn't restricted to use by women because the clit "arm" is so flexible it can be positioned to tickle any number of hot spots if the vibrator were to be used for prostate massage.

The sphere is made of silicone with a plastic base. The silicone insertable portion to attached to the plastic position that forms the base and also the core of the vibrator as a sleeve; there is a noticeable seam that could pose difficulties in cleaning between the two materials. The silicone is plush and velvety smooth - lovely silicone, actually. It slips and slides with the addition of lube (avoid silicone based), and feels like a plush pillow against sensitive bits when vibration is present.

As a dual action vibe, the Sphere is a little different. Instead of picking a spot for focusing the apex of back-and-forth motion (as is the case with most dual action vibes), just position an arm to massage the clit via pounding down during thrusting - voila! The gap between the all of the insertable and the ball from the arm is large - 4 inches - with a tremendous range of flex along the way so that it can be adapted to any angle and any distance. Brilliant! This vibe could be successful for a huge range of anatomies, and is easy to use, so will work for anyone.

The controls are simple - a plus and a minus. The plus cycles on through the ten vibration modes, and the minus nixes vibration (the subsequently turns it back on). The ten vibration modes are fairly derivative - pulsing patterns, steady buzz patters, escalating, waving...etc. It is exceedingly disappointing that this toy does not feature a way to independently raise and lower the intensity of the two motors (which are in the clit arm and base). The toy is quiet, powerful on its highest vibration settings (which are only felt in patterns four and seven) and waterproof. Aside from the lack of finer control, this is a fantastic vibrator.

The Sphere should be washed carefully with soap and hot water, taking special effort to get the seam clean and also to keep the battery compartment dry. If you wish to disinfect the sphere, its silicone end may be soaked in a 10% bleach solution.
