Stir it Up!

The Rosebud is a dainty-looking power tool,. It provides strong vibrations to the clitoris even on its lowest setting, and features a stirring motion on the shaft. The toy feels great in general but, as someone who has sensitive skin, those vibes just rubbed me wrong.

Pros:
Velvety soft silicone. Comfortable shape.
Cons:
A bit loud. May be too intense for sensitive people.

useful review
I'd never purchased a dual-action vibrator before, and chose the Rosebud because it looked non-threatening. Being ignorant to the terminology of such things, I didn't realize that "rotating" meant the shaft itself moved. For some reason, I thought that just meant there were beads inside it that would spin and give a different sensation, so you can imagine my surprise when I turned the Rosebud on and thought it more suitable for stirring paint!

The Rosebud is made of 100% silicone, but there is a slight scent right out of the box. I suspect this may have been from some mild cleanser they used at the factory though, because it did lessen quite a bit after it was washed. Manufacturers often say that their products are "velvety soft" texture, and in the case of the Rosebud it's true. There is also a slight pliability to the shaft, and even more with the clitoral stimulator. I wouldn't suggest bending either one *too* much though or you might damage the mechanisms inside.

There are two separate vibration units inside the toy; one for the shaft, and one for the clitoral stimulator, and each has its own slider control on the plastic base. I did notice that if you power on the clitoral stimulator while the shaft is operating, there is a slight loss of power, but not enough to make a big difference. The entire unit is powered by 4 AAA batteries, and it needs all four to work. In other words, it isn't 2 for the shaft and 2 for the clit stimulator, in spite of them operating on different vibrators.

The shaft is designed for easy insertion, and does a pretty good job and nestling right at the G-spot. As I mentioned before, it moves in a slow "stirring" motion on the lowest setting, becoming faster as you slide the control up. The clitoral stimulator is designed so that it covers all parts of the clitoris, and down to the opening of the vagina, so I can't imagine anyone being able to say it doesn't reach the right spot there. It moves in short side to side flicks, and is rather vigorous even on its lowest setting, so it may not be suitable for the more sensitive users.

One drawback to this toy is the noise. The shaft makes a high-pitched rhythmic noise like a walking mechanical toy, while the clitoral stimulator makes a loud mid-level hum. Both could be heard outside of the door.

Since it's silicone, the Rosebud can be cleaned with soap and water, or you can wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution, and it is compatible with water-based lubes.
Experience
I'm going to give this toy three stars because I think it would be absolutely perfect for women who like a lot of power, but my own experience was less than stellar. First, I have to say that the shape of the toy feels absolutely wonderful when inserted, and the clit stimulator causes orgasms very quickly. But I really disliked the stirring motion of the shaft, and that's where I ran into trouble.

Since I loved everything else about the toy, I figured I would just use it as a dildo and turn the clit stimulator on. I wound up with what I *thought* was a yeast infection after I tried that. The next time I used the toy I did the same thing, and wound up with the same severe burning sensation, which lasted for almost three weeks. After some investigating, I found out that even with only the clit stimulator powered up, there is still a fair amount of vibration that transfers right to the head of the shaft, and it was literally giving me a "rug burn" inside. I don't think I'll be trying it a third time!

Wow, I'm so sorry you had such negative, painful effects from the Rosebud. I really appreciated your honest review though.

#1. Ew, high-pitched sounds are not my friend.
#2. Wow, what a strange reaction!

Thanks for the review.

Thanks gals Smile
I suspect that if I had left the shaft turned on I might not have wound up having that happen because the vibrations wouldn't have been concentrated to one spot. But that stirring bit just wasn't my thing.

It is cute, but wow, that's not a good reaction!

Oh my, how uncomfortable! Did you use lube? What a disappointing experience

Yes, I used plenty of lube the first time, but it wasn't needed the second because I was producing more than enough. That's what led me to realize that the toy was the culprit and that I wasn't having a lube reaction or something. On the subject of lubing it though, the toy's surface is so smooth that it takes very little moisture (natural or otherwise) to get it really slick. That combined with the moderate size and gentle shape makes it where lube would be optional for anybody who was very aroused.

Yikes! Sorry to hear about your painful experience with this toy. What strikes me as odd is that we've NEVER experienced any "friction burns" from quality silicone toys with adequate lube. Considering your unpleasant experience/REACTION to this toy, as well as the odd scent you described when opening the toy, are we sure that this toy is actually 100% silicone? And if so, the grade of silicone?! I'm wondering if your "rug burn" may have actually been an allergic reaction to some foreign material.... is that at all possible? How does the look/feel/texture/smell/etc... of this toy compare to other toys you have of a high grade silicone? Have you ever had reactions to other silicone toys?

Just some food for thought. Thanks for the review.

LiftedUp--- I phoned Vibratex right after it happened and the lady was really dismissive about the whole thing. She said it was 100% silicone but wouldn't or couldn't say what grade.
It felt like silicone, but the smell was out of place so I also asked about the possibility of any cleaning agent or other chemical that may have been used in manufacturing (even though I *did* wash the toy thoroughly before use). Again, the dismissive attitude. I also asked if it was possibly TPR silicone and if that could contain latex, and the lady flat-out lied and said their company had never used latex in any of their manufacturing, but didn't answer the TPR question. She just kept suggesting that I return the toy and try a different Vibratex product. Frankly I was surprised, because up until then I had no complaints about Vibratex.

LiftedUp-- Sorry, I forgot to answer your last question. No, other silicone toys haven't been a problem in the past, and I just got the Tantus O2 Revolution (also silicone) and it's great.

Thanks for the info. Judging from your phone experience, I hate to think such things, but it sounds like Vibratex might not be being completely honest and upfront about their product contents?!

Like your O2, all of our silicone dildos so far are from Tantus, which obviously uses a high-grade silicone, and we have had no problems with either. I would hate to end up with a silicone toy that could potentially cause problems though. Maybe I'll leave Vibratex stuff off my list for now, until I read some more reviews on them, or see if anyone else has had similar experiences.

Thanks again.

I don't know, but I personally wasn't impressed with the answers I got.

Keep in mind it may not have been the material on this one though. I do have very sensitive skin, so it's very possible that by turning off the rotation feature of the toy I just had too intense a vibration rubbing in one area, and it caused chafing. I even had trouble with one Tantus toy (Duece 1) hurting me because of a ridge molded into it, and everyone knows there is NOTHING wrong with Tantus' materials or workmanship.

Regarding your phone call to Vibratex, was it a single phone call involving one individual employee, or did you talk to more than one person?

It was a series of phone calls with the same employee, because she had to keep consulting with others who were in/out the office to try to get the answers I had asked for.
