The Biggest Mascara I've Ever Seen!

The Screaming O Studio Collection Mascara is supposed to be a discreet vibrator, and while it's less obvious than a toy that looks like a penis, it still isn't very discreet. I can only see it fooling young children who don't know what mascara looks like and can't read the logo. It has a unique texture and could work for teasing, but won't be enough to satisfy most users.

Use

The Screaming O Studio Collection Mascara Vibe is a vibrator designed to look like a tube of mascara. It provides light vibrations, along with intense texture. The Mascara Vibe can be used on external areas like the clitoris and nipples, and can also be used all over the body for an interesting sensation. The vibrator is small enough to fit into a purse, so you could take it with you on the go. It's waterproof, so you can use it in the shower or tub.

Material / Texture

The handle and case are made from plastic. I contacted Screaming O, and found out that the "tingle tip" (the area meant to look like bristles) is made from phthalate free PVC which is plasticized with a vegetable oil. The PVC has a chemical odor that is obvious when they toy is held near the face, but it can't be detected during use. The nubs are flexible, but still quite firm. The texture is intense, and can be too much for sensitive areas like the clitoris. The bristles provide a unique sensation that can be enjoyable when run across other (less sensitive) areas of the body.

In the pictures on the product page, you can see a silver band running around the wand. This is painted on, and wore off almost entirely after the first use and wash.

Design / Shape / Size

The wand is 5" long, and with the lid in place, it comes to 5 1/2". It's 3/4" wide. The Mascara Vibe is much larger than a real tube of mascara. It really does not resemble a mascara very much when the lid is on. My boyfriend saw it on my dresser and thought it was a small traditional vibrator. It does look like more like a traditional vibrator than a mascara, due to the size and shape of the lid and the large red power symbol marking the button on the base. With the lid off, you can tell that it's meant to look like a mascara, but it still doesn't really look like one. This won't fool anyone who has more than a vague idea of what mascara looks like. The Screaming O logos printed on both the lid and the wand also detract greatly from the discretion of this toy.

The Mascara Vibe compared to a real mascara. It's much larger, and that mascara is bigger than average

The Mascara Vibe runs on 3 LR44 watch batteries. The battery compartment can be accessed by twisting the end of the toy. It is easy to open and close, but the lid must be removed first. There is a piece of paper inside the compartment, which shows the directions to insert the batteries. It also holds down the battery contacts and, if the paper is removed, the contacts will lift up when you remove the batteries, trapping the last battery inside. Make sure to leave the paper in place. There is a small O-ring that doesn't look very secure, but it does manage to keep water out when the toy is submerged.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations are quiet, buzzy, and not very strong. They are focused in the "brush" area of the toy, and the "stick" that connects it to the base. They do travel throughout the toy and can be felt in the fingers.

The Mascara Vibe has 3 speeds of steady vibrations. There is also one pattern setting, which is made up of a series of patterns including different speeds of pulsing, escalating and waving. I don't think many people will enjoy this setting, but it could be a good tease since it is constantly changing.

The vibrations are controlled by a single button on the base of the toy. It can be pressed repeatedly to cycle through the settings, then turn the toy off. You can also turn the vibrations off by holding the button down for 2 seconds. The controls are logical and easy to use.

The manufacturer says the batteries should last for 80+ minutes. I found they lasted for almost exactly an hour of use.

Care and Maintenance

PVC toys can be cleaned with warm water and antibacterial soap, or a toy cleaner. PVC is porous and can not be sterilized, so this toy should not be shared with partners. It is compatible with water or silicone based lubes. Since the toy comes with a protective plastic lid, it can be stored anywhere you'd like.

Packaging

The Mascara Vibe came packaged in a matte black cardboard box, with the toy visible beneath a plastic bubble. It isn't discreet, since it says "vibrator" on the front of the package. The back of the package has some product information. There are no instructions for operating or caring for the vibrator. It comes with batteries inside the toy, and an extra set of batteries is included.

Experience

This did not work for me at all as a clitoral vibrator. The vibrations were too weak, and the texture was painful. I found it more pleasurable on my nipples. The vibrations felt stronger there, and the texture felt less intense. The bristles were still a bit painful when rubbed on my nipples, but I like a little bit of pain with my nipple play. The toy also provided some unique sensations when it was run down my neck or across my stomach. To be honest, I doubt I will use this toy in the future, but it was kind of fun to explore using it in different areas.

Thanks for the review! That is comically large! I don't think that this will be finding its way into my toy box.

Great picture in comparison to regular mascara. This would look silly in my makeup box. Sounds like it would be useless in the toy drawer too.
