Use

Despite the shape, the Minna Ola is a traditional vibrator. The curved end of the toy is actually the control for the toy while the straight, traditional-vibe-looking end is the insertable and usable end. The Minna Ola can be inserted vaginally or used externally. With experienced users and careful use, the Minna Ola could be used anally as well, but it is not recommended. As the toy is waterproof, it can be used in the shower or bath.

The unique feature that sets Minna Ola apart is the control structure. Instead of pressing buttons to control Minna Ola's vibrations, the vibrations are controlled by the pressure-sensitive touch pad on the curved end of the toy. The harder you press down on this pressure-sensitive touch pad, the stronger the vibrations will get. There is no way to control the vibrator in a traditional manner (with buttons).

Minna Ola is created by a new company called "Minna Life" that is focusing their products on easily-controlled woman-friendly products. They believe that technology should make life less complicated and that it should be intuitive and easy to control.

Material / Texture

The Minna Ola is made from the highest-quality, body-safe silicone. The silicone is very smooth, and it does not create much drag against the skin. Using an external lubricant makes it glide against the skin. The Minna Ola has no odor either. The Minna Ola is not flexible at all and is very rigid. There is no plushiness to the silicone; it is applied right over the motor of the toy for optimal vibration strength. The firm and rigid aspect of the Minna Ola makes it a possible choice for those who enjoy firm g-spot pressure.

The vibrator is completely smooth with no texture built into it. However, if you are someone that minds seams, there is a seam that runs along both sides of the vibrator. It can be felt by the fingers and during use if you aren't using enough lubricant or are sensitive to it.

Design / Shape / Size

Image property of MinnaLife. It shows the pieces and parts of the Minna Ola.

The Minna Ola has a unique design. With most vibrators, you would expect that the curved end was meant to be inserted for g-spot pleasure. However, with the Minna Ola, the curved end is actually intended as the control structure. On this end, you will find the two control buttons, the touch-sensitive pressure pad, the charging port, and the hole that can be used to reinflate the touch pressure pad if need be. The opposite end is the usable end for which nothing is on it aside from the vibrations and the motor. The usable end has a slight curve to it, but it not a large curve. The size of the usable end is small enough for easy insertion but large enough to give a filling feeling when inserted.

The Minna Ola is also rechargeable. The charging port is on the inner curved side of the Minna Ola, and it attaches by magnet to the surface of the toy. One light will pulse while the vibrator charges, and both lights will pulse when the vibrator is done charging, and after it is done charging, it can be unattached for use. The toy can not be used while it is charging. The Minna Ola will tell you how much charge it has left as well. When turning the vibrator on, you'll get three short pulses for full charge, two for half charge, and one for when it needs to be charged. There are two pieces that go along with charging. The charge adapter can be removed from the charger, so you do need to make sure to keep track of the adapter as it will not charge without it.

It takes about three hours to fully charge. The toy does come fully charged when you first receive it though. As a neat addition: the charge adapter functions as a stand to keep the toy upright while charging.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The most amazing feature of the Minna Ola is the control structure. Instead of using traditional buttons to increase and decrease the vibrations, the vibrator actually uses a touch-sensitive control pad. The harder you touch/squeeze, the stronger the vibrations will become. This control feature is extremely intuitive and easy to use, and most people can be using this toy within a minute of removing it from the box with no issues. The touch pad is really easy to squeeze. About half-pressure is the full strength of the vibrations, so you don't have to worry about having a death-grip on the toy during use; moderate squeezes work fantastically.

Aside from the "squeeze harder and get a stronger vibration", the vibrator also features a play-back mode. Much like those pianos that "record" your melody then play it back to you, the Minna Ola will record whatever patterns and strengths you use, and when you set it to, it will loop your creation (make it play over and over) right back to you. This way, you can make whatever interesting vibration patterns that work for you.

The vibrations are on the stronger side, and they are more rumbly than buzzy as well. They aren't surface vibrations, and instead, they do end up being deep-tissue vibrations. The Minna Ola has some of the strongest vibrations that I've felt in a rechargeable, traditional vibrator. It is not earth-shattering, but you certainly will notice them, and they probably will be enough for orgasm. The motor for the vibrations is focused in the usable end, and as the silicone is not plushy, the vibrations travel well throughout the shaft of the toy. The vibrations are pretty quiet; they can not be heard through a closed door, and while you could hear them if you were sitting next to the vibrator, my partner can not heard the toy on full-strength while sitting across the room.

Care and Maintenance

The Minna Ola can only be used with water-based lubricants. To clean Ola, use running water and a mild soap. Keep Ola cool, dry, and away from extreme heat or direct sunlight when not using it. Do not place Ola in a dishwasher, and do not charge Ola while wet.

The Minna Ola's silicone body does pick up a slight bit of lint. Keeping it away from fabrics and in the storage bag will help reduce this.

The Minna Ola's touch sensor can deflate with changes in altitude (most likely caused by flying with it). For that reason, there's a hole in the back of the control end that allows you to insert the included power plug charger, and it will re-inflate the deflated control panel. This does not effect the use of the vibrator.

Packaging

The Minna Ola comes in a large, cylindrical cardboard package. This box is not small at about a foot tall. It is pretty skinny, though. Once you lift off the lid, the Minna Ola will be resting in a little foam-like tray that keeps the Minna Ola upright. Underneath this tray, you'll find a Minna sticker (pink with an exclamation point), the instruction manual, a storage bag, and the charger. Attached to the vibrator itself, there's a quick-start guide that just shows the three steps you need to know to use the toy straight out of the packaging. The Minna Ola does come completely charged.

The packaging may be a bit large to keep for storage - especially since the Minna Ola comes with its own storage bag. The packaging is very, very classy, bright, and welcoming, and it would be suitable for a gift.

Personal comments

Minna Ola is a highly creative and innovative toy. Believe me, when I received it, I was REALLY impressed. This is somewhere where sex toy manufacturers haven't gone yet, and I'm glad to see that Minna Life ended up going there, and I'd love to see the same technology applied in the future.

It's unique, for certain, but it's definitely an interesting and unique concept that requires some use and learning to really learn how to use it to the best of its ability. Especially the shape. My, how this shape confused me. For a regular g-spot toy, you'd expect that the curved end would be the insertable end. As far as I can tell, with the instructions as well, with this toy, the curved end is actually the end that you hold onto! You are certainly free to use the curved end if you want, but the curved end doesn't seem to work nearly as well for the pressure sensors when pushed up against a body instead of being held in a hand.

It's hard to explain, but the curvature of the toy, when using it as a g-spot toy with the curved end inserted, doesn't seem to make it productive for it to be pushed up against a body instead of a hand. The curve is just too extreme for the body to push well against the sensors (at least, for me) for most positions. It works well when holding it, but when using it the opposite way, it doesn't respond nearly as well.

It can also be a bit difficult to use inserted - but it really just depends. Personally, with the clenching and unclenching of my hand that goes on during thrusting, it ends up making the vibrations go weaker and stronger. You can fix that by using the memory function to set the vibrations before you start using it, but I do enjoy using the touch pad for controls. I mostly stick to using this vibrator as an external toy, though, as it is really where it seems to shine. The looped function is just fantastic, and I love how easy the vibrator is to control and use. Plus, the vibrations are nice and rumbly which is great for me.

I really don't have many complaints about this toy. It's extremely easy to use straight out of the package, but it does take a bit of time to learn how to master it - mostly because of the unique shape and controls. Once you master it though, it really is a great vibrator. It's innovative, neat, and easy to use. My only complaint is that, when I want to, it doesn't have any buttons to use this vibrator the "normal" way with buttons. However, the looped function will allow you to set a single speed to continue to loop if you don't want to hold the vibrator's button down. I look forward to seeing what Minna Life comes out with next!
