The Pink Powerhouse

The Rechargeable Mystic Wand plays well with others, transmitting its strong vibrations through a variety of other toys, and also provides a quality shoulder massage that few "massagers" can manage. This little pink powerhouse packs a punch, though, which will be a pro for some and a con for others.

Use

The Mystic Wand is meant for the external stimulation of any body part that would enjoy some strong vibrations of the moderately deep variety. Unlike some "massagers" this massager actually does massage. The depth and rumble of the vibrations are actually useful at coaxing tense muscles into relaxation. It can also be applied to whatever erogenous zones you happen to own, with solid results.

This toy is quite suitable for anyone, including couples, and it's even quiet enough to use while relaxing in front of the television. It can be used almost anywhere on dry land. Everything about this massager is suitable for those new to toys, as well as those with a significant collection, thanks to its quality and multipurpose design.

Material / Texture

The Mystic Wand is made of an odorless and velvety silicone, over hard plastic. It's non-porous, phthalates free, and latex free. If you're keen to vibrate your tongue, it lacks any sort of taste.

As for the texture, it has ribbing on the sides of the head, which felt pretty darn good on my sore shoulder, but less so in more sensitive places. The top of the head, on the other hand, is smooth and carries the vibrations just as well. The easy to grip handle and flexible neck should help each user find the angle that works best for them.

Design / Shape / Size

The Mystic Wand has all of the features I wanted in a massager. It's rechargeable, instead of relying on either access to a wall outlet or batteries. It's a manageable size, both in use and for storage, plus it's small enough for travel. It's lightweight, so it doesn't cause arm fatigue.

As for discretion, since it's primary function is not sexual, it wouldn't necessarily raise eyebrows if left out, but the bright pink color does attract the eye and somewhat diminish its ability to blend. The tasteful velvety storage bag does regain some footing in that department, however.

The width of the head is a comfortable size for delivering a muscle massage, without being too large for those hard to reach areas. It should be noted that the Mystic Wand is not meant to be inserted anywhere.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Mystic Wand is surprisingly quiet for its level of power. On the lowest setting, I could barely hear it through a blanket, and on the highest setting, it could not be heard through a closed door. However, noise can become an issue if it comes in contact with some surfaces at the wrong angle, because it's powerful enough to send vibrations through rather large objects.

In use, the Mystic Wand offers six different settings. The first three are simple vibrations of three different intensities, all of which are quite strong in my opinion. The upper levels feature two pulse patterns and one really nice escalation pattern. Each level is indicated with a corresponding colored light just above the simple controls. The upper button cycles through the patterns, while a dedicated power button turns the unit on and off. This means that in the event of an unexpected interruption or other crisis, one button ends all noise, earning the Mystic Wand and A+ for convenience.

The Mystic Wand is not waterproof and should not be submerged.

Care and Maintenance

Thanks to the ridges on the head, the Mystic Wand can take an extra couple of minutes to clean. It can be cleaned with hot, soapy water (but don't submerge it, due to the charger port!) or wiped down with a 10% bleach solution, or your favorite toy cleaner. Lint can be wiped away before use with an unscented baby wipe, a damp cloth, or a toy wipe.

Silicone is non-porous, so with proper sterilization (10% bleach solution) it can be safely shared.

Storage is simple, thanks to the handy separator bag included with the toy. Since it is silicone, it's important to keep it separated from any toys made of silicone composites. The chemicals in some composites will attempt to bond with pure silicone toys. Likewise, as a silicone toy, the Mystic Wand should only be used with water based lubes.

Packaging

The packaging neither added to nor detracted from this particular toy. The clear plastic box folded up and slid into the recycling bin with minimal fuss, but unfortunately it contained no information specific to the toy. The charger was pretty self-explanatory -- the Mystic Wand flashes while it's charging, and when the light turns a steady green, it's done. However, nothing about the packaging indicated whether or not the charge should be run down before recharging, or whether it was possible to overcharge the unit.

On the other hand, the storage bag is perfectly sized and a pleasant texture, which is always a plus. As far as gift-giving, it's neither an impressive presentation nor a significantly distasteful one, so the suitability would depend upon the participants involved, as well as the venue, since the item is visible through the packaging.

Personal comments

I bought the Mystic Wand for three reasons. First of all, I don't have a high powered wand type toy, and I wanted to experience one in order to broaden my knowledge base. Since the Hitachi scares me to death (sorry Hitachi Cult!) I've been considering other alternatives for a while now. The Mystic Wand had me at 'rechargeable.'

My suspicions were confirmed, as far as my body and the level of power offered by these types of toys. Even though the vibrations were deep rather than -- for me, anyway -- the dreaded buzzy, the Mystic Wand proved far too strong for my sensitive bits. (Keep in mind, my ideal vibe is something like the Little Chroma, and I find the original Pocket Rocket just a tad much at times.)

I also wanted something to use on my always-tense shoulders after a long work day. Those enormous vibrating cushion things that people strap to office chairs don't do it for me. I find them horribly unpleasant. The Mystic Wand boasted deeper vibrations, and to my delight, it delivered. So for me, that will be the Mystic Wand's primary function.

Finally, I wanted a toy that played well with others. The Mystic Wand excelled in this category, and now I can add vibrations to various non-vibrating toys. Held to the base of the O2 Revolution Ice or the Jollies Thrust, to name two examples, it provides excellent internal stimulation. The trick is to find the correct angle, though, because the strong vibrations will make the Mystic Wand skip away from the base of the other toy, and make a racket in the process, if it lands wrong.

Follow-up commentary
This is still my go-to toy, not for orgasms, but for muscle knots and spasms. The powerful vibrations relieve tension in my neck and shoulders, thus preventing headaches, and for that alone I keep this toy charged.

It also works well when held to the base of non-vibrating silicone toys, especially my beloved Jollie.

I've noticed no decline in the length of time this holds a charge. In fact, it seems to last for a couple of months each time, and it remains as powerful as ever, showing no signs of wear to the silicone or the buttons, despite the fact that I may have sat on it a few times when it got left in my computer chair.
