This spice comes up a little short

A dual action, rabbit style vibrator for the person who wants a smaller toy, the Short and Sweet Spice offers a shorter shaft but vibrations galore. The flexible shaft allows the user to direct the toy effectively towards the g spot, while the cactus clitoral vibe nestles the clitoris between three prongs. A great toy for someone new to rabbit style vibes!

Use

The Short and Sweet Spice is a variation on the traditional rabbit style vibrator. It thus has two elements, a clitoral stimulator and a more traditional shaft which can be inserted into the vagina. The idea, for those folks unfamiliar with this style of vibrator, is to stimulate the g-spot and the clitoris simultaneously, for a more intense orgasm.

The Short and Sweet Spice sets itself apart from other rabbit vibrators in, as the name suggests, its length. The insertable shaft is substantially shorter and slighter than shafts on many rabbit vibrators. At 4 inches long, the insertable shaft is a great option for those folks who are interested in stimulating the first few inches of their vagina, but not those looking for deep penetration.

Another way this vibe sets itself apart from other rabbit vibrators is in the fact that the shaft itself doesn't move. In many rabbit vibes, the shaft will turn, or move side to side. In the Short and Sweet Spice, on the other hand, the folks at Evolved have chosen to make a toy with simple (but strong) vibration. Though this might disappoint those folks who enjoy the shaft rotation of other toys, I found that the lack of rotation made it easier for me to move the toy into a position where the vibration felt best on my g-spot, without having to worry about rotating parts getting in the way!

Finally, rather than the traditional rabbit ears, this vibrator has a three pronged cactus shaped clitoral stimulator. What's nice about this shape is that it allows the prongs to rest around the clitoris, stimulating different sides of it.

Material / Texture

The Short and Sweet Spice is made of phthalate free TPR and is quite pliable, in this case. The shaft has no central rod, meaning that, in combination with the flexibility of the material, this toy is ideally designed to allow the user to move it into place for optimal stimulation. Given that every person's body is slightly different, and all clitorises and g-spots don't exist in perfectly identical distances from one another, this flexibility is ideal.

Do you know what else I find ideal? Playing with this toy in the bath. The entire toy, including its hard plastic battery pack, is waterproof. Furthermore, the vibrations are intense enough for use in the water, which can sometimes make vibrations feel less serious.

One downside is that the toy does have a slight smell, though not one that is overwhelming, and it dissipated substantially once I cleaned the toy.

Design / Shape / Size

Here's the thing. I really wanted to love the Spice. The design is such a great idea--a rabbit vibe for folks who can't take bigger toys - and the clitoral vibe was designed really well for excellent coverage of all sensitive bits. Unfortunately, I just couldn't enjoy the Spice because it seemed not to want to stick around. I know, it's dangerous to anthropomorphize toys, but it really seemed like the fates were conspiring against my orgasm.

I slid the Spice in. She slid out. With a shaft as short as that, it was a little harder to really insert her far enough that she'd stay put. And the TPR, while smooth and lovely, seemed to be using me as a slip n' slide for its own entertainment.

So I tried to hold the Spice in place, thinking I'd overcome the slipperiness with force. Fail. Each time I thought I'd settled into a good position, my hand would accidentally push the on/off button, and Spice would kick into a higher gear or turn off, depending on where in the 3 speed cycle I was. Sometimes when it kicked into a higher gear, I was ready, but I never wanted it to turn off and I'd rather have had more control.

So did I enjoy the Spice? I did. She made me come hard, once I figured out a good position for my hands where I could both hold her in and control the intensity. But it was a bit of a challenge to get to that place. On the other hand, the very smoothness of the material that I found difficult to manage, I also found immensely enjoyable. The TPR of the Spice slid in and out of me smoothly, even without lube, and even more smoothly with.

Although small, the Spice's size actually was plenty for me. Although I'm normally a size queen, I found myself remembering the anatomy lesson where we learned that the first few inches of the vagina are the most sensitive anyways. And, as I said above, I found that the lack of rotation in the shaft actually made this a more pleasurable toy for me, since I could direct it effectively to my g-spot.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations for this toy are located in two motors, one of which is positioned below the clitoral vibe and the other of which is in the tip of the shaft. Both motors vibrate on three levels, the highest of which is a moderately strong vibration (though not the strongest on the market by far).

I found two aspects of the controls of this toy frustrating. First, as I described above, the button which controls the toy is located on the bottom of the handle, and is very sensitive. This meant that I was pushing it by accident more often than not. Second, given that the two vibrators are separated, it would have been great to be able to control them separately as well. I found myself wishing I could stop one vibe but keep the other going, or have the clitoral vibe increase in intensity while keeping the g spot vibe the same, both options that weren't possible in this toy.

With that said, this toy definitely gives you plenty of bang for your buck. The vibrations were intense and pleasurable, and they traveled through the TPR so effectively that I could have sworn there were bullets throughout the shaft. While the highest level is a little loud, the lower two are quite discreet in their volume.

Care and Maintenance

Because this toy is made of TPR, it can't be sterilized in boiling water. For the sake of keeping it generally clean, you can use a toy cleaner or soap and hot water.

One problem with TPR rabbit style vibes is that I've yet to figure out how to safely share them. While you can use a condom on the shaft, if anybody else's body gets as wet as mine does, that clitoral vibe certainly isn't staying clean. Thus, your best bet is to limit this toy to personal use, or use with partners with whom you're fluid bonded.

Packaging

The Short and Sweet Spice comes in an aluminum tin with a clear plastic top. It's worth keeping the tin and using it to store your toy, as TPR will melt into medical grade silicone if they are kept in contact for more than short periods of time.

In addition to providing good storage, the tin makes this a great toy to give as a gift. Slap a little wrapping paper on her and you'll have an incredibly innocent looking package with all too naughty contents.
