The Fairy Wand vibrator is a wand-style vibrator with a cute matte pink handle that is easy to grip. The massager's head is for external use only, although you can buy attachments that are insertable. Massagers are great for a lot of uses. This one does an excellent job at easing my sore muscles and delivering powerful orgasms fast. The Fairy line of massagers is unique in that they are controlled by a dial that allows you to scroll through the speeds, rather than a switch that allows only two speeds.

Because of the short cord and bulky size of this massager, it's difficult to use during sexual intercourse. The Fairy Mini or the Fairy Rechargeable might be better suited to that purpose, especially the rechargeable, which has the advantage of not being attached to a wall.

This entire product is made from plastic, which has a material safety rating of 8 according to Eden’s scale. There are several different textures or kinds of plastic at use here.

For the handle, the middle part, which you would grip while using the toy, is a matte pink plastic. The matte finish makes it easier to grip with slippery hands. Pink is the only color available for the Fairy line of massagers. The rest of the handle is white plastic with a glossy finish. It says “Fairy” in fancy script towards the top. There is a noticeable seam, but this toy isn’t insertable anyways, so it doesn’t matter. There’s also a small, rubbery pink part right where the toy attaches to the cord, which is white and looks, well, just like a cord for plugging something into the wall.

The head and neck of the massager are made of a white rubbery plastic, very smooth with no drag. It has a slight rubbery taste but no smell. There is a little bit of give to this plastic and the lip at the bottom of the head can be bent a little, but the head still feels quite hard when placed on the body. This toy might not be for those who dislike hard surfaces, and beginners may prefer to start out with something gentler. The head has five grooves wrapping around the outside of it. These can be used to rub against the clitoris for extra stimulation when using this as a sex toy, but they’re not noticeable at the higher speeds. They’re also a pain to clean. The top of the head is smooth with no texture.

It clicks softly when it turns on or off, and it can be adjusted to a wide range of speeds between its highest and lowest settings. The only drawback to this style of controls is that I can’t always remember which way to turn the dial during use. I suppose I’ll get the hang of it after a while. The dial is easy to turn, and it glides between speeds. I've never accidentally shifted the speed during use, but the dial turns so easily that it would be possible if the toy was gripped the wrong way.

According to many, the Fairy is buzzier than the Hitachi. If so, then the Hitachi must be extremely rumbly. If we divide the Fairy’s settings into about four ranges:

The lowest range starts at three vrooms. It’s very rumbly with no hint of a buzz. The noise level is about two bees. The second lowest range is still very rumbly, hitting about four vrooms and three bees. The next highest range starts to feel a little buzzy compared to the earlier setting, but it’s still a very deep, powerful vibration that penetrates the skin. It hits five vrooms and four bees. Under the covers, with the door closed and music playing, you could probably hide the sound completely. Not so on the last range. The noise level is about the same as a vacuum cleaner, but more high-pitched. The whine will be heard through blankets, doors, and music, and it gets worse if the neck is bent. If you need the highest setting, you might want to make sure you’re home alone or that your housemates are watching TV loudly in a room that’s separated from you by several walls. As for the power – if there was a six vroom rating, then this toy would deserve it. Users who have tried both the Fairy and the Hitachi typically say that these toys have equal power, or that the Fairy is more powerful on high, gentler on low, and more buzzy overall than the Hitachi. It does get slightly buzzy, but not enough to be numbing or itchy. The vibrations are extremely powerful and deeply penetrating.

The Fairy plugs into the wall, which is why it’s able to deliver so much power. This limits the places in which you can use it. However, there is also a rechargeable version available for those who want to use it in places without an outlet. Because this toy is electric, it is not waterproof or splashproof, so don’t bring it into the tub, shower, pool, rain, etc. If using this toy on the high setting, the handle may start to get warm after about 20 minutes. This Fairy did not come with a pouch for storage, which I find strange, since the other Fairy vibrators do. The head can attract a little lint, so you might want to wipe it down before using it.

The Fairy came in a pink cardboard box, wrapped in a clear plastic bag inside the box. The box had pictures of the toy and text in English and Japanese. The packaging is cute, but not discreet. It would be suitable for gifting, but it should be wrapped first. It can be used for storage, but it’s flimsy and bulky. I chose to recycle it and simply store the Fairy loose in my toy chest.

I researched a lot of wand massagers before purchasing this one. There are many reasons why the Fairy massager was my choice. The dial allows for a lot of versatility in settings, which is the main advantage the Fairy line has over its competitors. The smaller Fairys have less power and buzzier vibrations compared to the regular size. Rechargeable options, while convenient, lose power quickly as the charge is depleted (for the Fairy rechargeable, a full charge lasts half an hour according to what I’ve heard from one of its users). The Fairy massager is for those who want a powerful massager with rumbly to mid-range vibrations. While it’s too bulky to use easily during intercourse, it’s great for masturbation, for using on a partner not during intercourse, such as during forced orgasm play, and for giving great massages.

When I first took this toy out of the package, I plugged it in and turned it on. I cycled through the low to high setting, then settled on a medium setting. The instant I put it on my clit, I had one powerful orgasm after another. My back arched, my hips bucked, and my whole body rode the wave of orgasms. I pulled it away after a minute and lay there, feeling drained and rather wonderful.
