To Have and to Hold

The Promise Finger ring bullet is a strong, nearly silent little bullet that, for me, was better in theory than in practice. The cord can sometimes get in the way but if that doesn't bother you, it's an adorable toy that makes masturbation quick, easy and fairly discreet.

extremely useful review
A few months ago I went on a bullet buying spree - odd for me because I'm not super fond of bullets in general.

I picked the Promise Finger Ring pretty much for its cuteness and I liked the idea of the controller being on my finger, not having to hold it in my hand.

So how did it work out for me?

Well...

Let me tell you.

First of all, it's shaped exactly like the Speeding Bullets Hallow Points bullet, also from Evolved, that I liked so much. So in regards to shape and size and texture, I liked it quite a bit.

It's small - about two inches long and less than an inch across, with a rounded, tapered head that provides excellent pinpoint clitoral stimulation without being the least bit pointy or pokey. It has a gorgeous ribbed texture to it that provides a nice bit of additional stimulation if rubbed against the skin but isn't super deeply ribbed, so it's not uncomfortable. It also has a matte finish to its plastic body, so it provides a little bit of friction and tug against flesh but not a huge or painful amount of drag. I've never had to use additional lube with it but you can certainly reduce the friction by using a drop of water, silicone or even oil based lube - plastic is friendly with them all.

The Promise Finger Ring is also nifty in that it has multiple speeds and patterns, not the usual when it comes to mini bullet vibes. You get to choose between a medium and a high steady vibe setting or three patterns. Patterns are simple but effective; a da da da da da da da pulsing, a dadadadadadada pulsing and a da daaaa da daaaa da daaaa da daaaa pulsing. A nice bit of variety, especially in such a small and affordable item.

The area I had a problem was the wired controller, which is a little "ring" with a push button that you can hold in your hand or wear on your finger. It's connected by a 30" cord to the bullet itself. For me, if I wore the "ring" on the same hand as I was holding the bullet with, the cord got all tangled and bunched up and was just sort of uncomfortable. If I wore it on the other hand I had to move the bullet to reach over and switch speeds. I found myself just holding the "ring" in my opposite hand so I could easily reach the push button control - which defeats the purpose of it being a ring.

I also found the cord in the way trying to use this during partner sex.

The ring should fit just about everyone. I have pretty big hands and I can get it to stay on some part of just about every finger. Even those with small hands should be able to wear it on an index finger or thumb.

The other issue is the matte plastic picks up a lot of dirt. If your hands are the least bit dirty the plastic on the ring becomes kind of grimy. I swear, I work on my computer all day, don't go digging in the dirt and my "ring" looks like a mechanic was wearing it. Because it's not water proof, you really can't wash it good with soap and water or you'll get water in the cord and control button.

Same with the bullet. You can gently wash it in soap and water or apply a mild bleach solution, but you must use care around the opening where the wire goes in. It's got an o-ring thingy for water resistance but isn't waterproof. I've found alcohol wipes to be the best way for me to clean this bugger. I buy the individually wrapped, like you see in the doctors office, and use a single wipe to clean this up.

Overall, it feels good. It's damned strong for such a small, watch battery vibe. (It runs on three LR44 batteries in the bullet itself - a screw off lid makes them easy to insert) It's amazingly quiet. The batteries last about as long as all watch batteries - between 15 minutes to maybe an hour if you are exceptionally lucky. But I think I'll stick to the wireless Hallow Points. It works the same, no cord to get tangled in.
Follow-up commentary
The bullet is good but I already went into that in the regular review.

To follow up, the remote/ring part really turned out to be an issue not only in all the ways I initially stated but in durability, too. Unfortunate, but the button on my simply fell off while in storage and I had to break up with the Promise Finger Ring.

It was okay while it lasted but next time I'll go with something more durable and likely to stick around when I make my commitments!

That's so weird about the plastic.

I'm never really been a bullet girl either. I keep planning on getting a bullet though, but am not sure which one I will settle on yet. I am interested in several, including the Speeding Bullet Hallow Point and the JimmyJane Iconic Bullet.

I had high hopes for this, but what is changing my mind is not being able to wash the ring easily.

The cord does seem annoying! And batteries are expensive. Overall seems decent. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review. What about the material? It seems like the cord would get in the way for me too and that's a big issue with me. If it's an anal toy then I don't care so much about cords but anything clitoral or vaginal must be cordless!
