Massager discontinued
by Durex

Whatchamacallit!

This massager has three speeds and one pulsation pattern as well as an instant off button. It does not provide pinpoint stimulation but does provide a diffuse vibration good for overall body massage. It is advertised as being splash proof and seam free but, it does have several seams that cancel out it's splash proof abilities. These seams also make it hard to clean all of those grooves!

Pros

Cons
Lots of seams, no silicone massager pad, weak

extremely useful review
The Durex play Ellipse massager is packaged in a blue, non-sexual, non-reusable plastic container that could be difficult for some to open as it is tamper evident. The package states that if the package is damaged, do not use it. It goes on to say, "This sleek massager has been designed to caress and embrace. The shaped handle makes it easy to control and use anywhere, and the controllable vibration builds from a tingling touch to a powerful massaging rhythm. Body-contoured design. 3 speeds and a pulse mode for your choice of sensation. Rechargeable battery. Made from high quality materials. 1 year guarantee." Included in the package you will find the Durex play ellipse, charger, soft storage pouch and an instruction/warranty booklet. The battery is a Nickel-cadmium that requires a 12 hour initial charge and the massager should not be used during charging.

The massager itself has a white plastic base that is covered in clear plastic that looks like a case. The clear plastic then connects to purple plastic near the tip to create the massage pad. At the very base of the massager there is a port for the charger to plug in. The charging port has a silicone cap to cover it when it's not charging but, it does not stay in place well. The massager has no smell whatsoever.

The instruction booklet describes this massager's tip as: "Made from silicone rubber, the pad is soft to the touch, with a skin-like texture that allows it to glide easily over the body. It is molded to ensure there are no seams or ridges and to make it as hygienic and easy to clean as possible." This however, is not the case. This massager is 99% plastic with the 1% being the silicone cap that covers the charging port. There is also a seam where the plastic purple massage pad connects to the clear plastic of the vibrator itself while there is another seam running the length of the massager on the top and bottom centers. There is yet another seam in the clear plastic near the control buttons that runs completely around the massager. It is not seam free and these seams make it difficult to clean as they allow water and fluids to seep inside. Because of these seams, some might experience discomfort during insertion but the instructional booklet does state, "This product is intended for use for external body massage as directed in this booklet."

The vibrations consist of three speeds followed by one pattern. These are turned on and off by an elongated button near the base that has one button on each side. One side turns it off and on and the opposite side changes the speeds and pattern. The vibrations start off very mild on the first speed and remain mild on the second speed followed by a moderate vibration on the last speed. The single pattern is a simple pulsation vibration. The vibrations originate from the purple tip of this massager but, are diffuse so there is no pinpoint vibration with this one. If you prefer a more pin point, direct stimulation on your clitoris then this one might not do it for you. It is reasonably quiet though!

This massager does work out well for overall body massage and the shape of the handle make it easy to maneuver but, since the seams do allow fluid and water to seep in, you may want to be careful when using massage oils. You should also use caution when taking this massager into the shower. While it is advertised as splash proof, the seams do leak.

Plastic toys are phthalate-free and easily cleaned with antibacterial soap and water or your favorite toy cleaner. They can also be wiped down with isopropyl alcohol. Water, oil and silicone based lubes can be used with plastic just make sure to keep silicone lube away from the silicone charging port cap. Also, if yours arrives with the silicone massaging pad, you should refrain from using silicone lube.

That is a really pricey vibe. I've tried another product of Durex and I wasn't impressed. It's great that it's rechargeable but it doesn't seem like you get your moneys worth. Good review.

These products made by durex trail behind other sex toys it seems. Nice honest review!

Funny, I just ran across this toy today online. I can't figure out if I like the clear plastic casing, if it looks cheap or if it looks too much like a razor. (Maybe that would make it discreet?)

I also agree the price is high ,especially with the seam issue. Water seeping and leaking is definitely not a pro!

Also, it's odd about the silicone cap!

Sleeping Dreamer and Naughty Student, thank you so much for your kind comments and I couldn't agree with you more! Smile

Adriana Ravenlust, as far as the clear casing goes, if I can be honest here, it appears to almost be an after thought or something. While I don't think it resembles a razor too much, I don't really think too many people would think it was anything but a massager so perhaps it is somewhat discreet. Thanks so much for your comment! At least this vibe can be used again, unlike some of Durex's other toys!

Backseat Boohoo, I'm honestly not sure if that's a good thing or not! Tongue out You are right though! Thanks for your comment!

So what I've gathered here is that this is a long wand-type body and clitoris vibrating massager? It's a bummer that it's not waterproof or splashproof because I like the way vibrations carry in water. This was a really nice, thorough and objective review... Thanks!
