Velvet touch vibrator - traditional vibrator by Doc Johnson - review by Katastophy

The Velvet Touch is a great traditional vibrator and it feels amazing both vaginally and as clitoral vibe. I have not used it anally, so I cannot speak for that but I'm sure that it would feel just as good. This toy best suited for beginners because of the lack of texture and smaller girth, but would be sure to please some of the more experienced folk out there too. It's definitely not the most quiet toy out there, so I would consider something else if you have roommates. Solo use would be best for this toy, as it wouldn't be the easiest thing to handle when getting freaky with someone. Another potential use is double penetration. Additionally, the packaging claims that the vibrator is waterproof but I wouldn't test that theory, just to be safe.

First of all, the Velvet Touch is made out of PU coated plastic, so it's on the safer end of the scale with no phthalates (hooray, ease of mind!). Secondly, the velvet texture is much more amazing that I had guessed it would be. It feels fantastic against my pink! Since the surface is smooth, this may not be for texture-lovers and provides a nice feel for beginners. There was no taste that I observed but I noticed that smells tend to linger, which could be worrisome, so I would just be sure to wash it really well after use.

The design and shape is very simple, making it a traditional vibrator. Personally, I prefer toys that are a little bit more interesting and have a little more girth, but this little baby still does its job. At one inch in diameter, it's perfect for beginners. Unfortunately, the Velvet Touch isn't the most discreet thing on the website and if someone gets their eyes on it, they're likely to know what it is unless they're really young or completely oblivious. Because of it's modest size, however, it's easy to hide.

Something that's really nice about this vibrator is that the vibrations are smack dab in the tip of the shaft. Further down the shaft, the vibrations are gradually weaker, but not so much that it would disappoint. At the base, vibrations can still be felt, which may numb your hand after awhile if you're gripping it tightly for an extended amount of time, although I didn't have this issue.
This toy has three constant speeds, the highest one being able to get me off. The twistable base controls the speeds, which may be hard to use if you have slippery hands or if it's inserted. At the highest setting, it's loud enough to be heard across the room and possibly through a thin wall if you press your ear to it. It's something to be aware of if you have family members in the house and especially if you have roommates.

The packaging has "waterproof" scrolled around it, but I wouldn't try it. The base screws on and off to allow access to the batteries, but it only takes two and a half twists to get it open, which may allow for liquids to leak in if it's submerged.

As with most other toys, give it a nice wash after use. As mentioned before, I noticed that smells tend to linger, so be sure to clean it thoroughly. I store it in my Sugar Sak along with a couple other toys and I noticed that the Velvet Touch had some dark purple/grey spots on it that won't wash off. It's the only toy of that material that I've kept in the bag, so I can't be completely sure, but I assume it's ink from the internal leopard spot fabric of the bag. This is something to keep in mind when you make your storage decisions. Don't keep it somewhere where inks have the potential of staining this product. Other than that, this toy is compatible with all lubes.

The toy was packaged in a clear and purple plastic rectangular box. It was easy enough to open and had an insert that you pull out that holds the toy. Also inside was an international instruction manual, which is not really necessary as the toy is very self-explanatory.

This toy is awesome and I hope it lasts me a long time. I love to angle it upwards when thrusting to hit my gspot, as well as pressing the tip against my clit. On the highest vibration level, it got me off, although I would prefer stronger vibrations to drive me wild. With the price, you really can't complain.
