Yay, I Rolled a Vibrator!

Honi is a cute little vibrating bullet. It has an excellent variety in functions. Unfortunately, the control panel-free design of Honi makes changing these functions hard. Once inserted, the toy must be removed to change the vibrations. This toy is super quiet, though, and made of silicone, which makes it safe to share with a partner after it has been washed.

Use

PicoBong Honi is a pretty basic silicone bullet vibrator. It can be inserted just as any other vibrator. It can also be used to stimulate external parts of the body, like the nipples, clitoris, or testicles. Because of its size and safe material, Honi would make an excellent toy for a beginner. The gentle, curved tip allows for direct stimulation where you want it.

Honi can be used for solo play or with a partner. It can be inserted and paired up with a clitoral vibrator as well. This toy is also waterproof, allowing for play in the tub or shower.

Sensitive users will also enjoy Honi, as it is made with completely body safe materials. The silicone and plastic are hypoallergenic and latex/phthalates free.

Material / Texture

Honi is made of both plastic and silicone. The base is plastic, as is the little black cord. The vibrating piece is made out of a thick layer of silicone over plastic. This has the same feel as a velvety coated plastic vibrator. Smooth, kind of powdery soft feeling, and not easy to push a fingernail into. On one side, the PicoBong logo is pressed into the silicone. This feels pretty smooth to the touch, though I can feel the indentations for each letter pretty easily. During use, I cannot feel these. The smooth, rounded shape of Honi allows for easy insertion. Because of this, I do recommend this toy for beginners. The silicone body of Honi makes this an easy to share toy. Simple cleaning will make it safe to use with a partner, since the silicone is non-porous.

Straight out of the box, Honi does have a very light scent, kind of like plastic. I only could smell it if I put the toy right under my nose. It hasn't faded with washing yet. There is no taste to the toy.

As I stated before in the Use section, Honi is a hypoallergenic toy. It is latex and phthalates free. It should be safe for use with any body. On EdenFantasys, the plastic/silicone material combo earns a rating of 8/10 on the safety scale.

The included die is made of plastic. Each side is about 1 1/2 inches square and features a cut out image of a PicoBong toy in pink. The plastic is smooth. The pink paint used in each toy image can't be scratched off.

Design / Shape / Size

Honi's design is pretty simple and typical of bullet or egg vibrators. It measures 3 1/4 inches long with an additional 2 1/2 inches in length for the cord. At its widest, this is 3 1/2 inches around and at its smallest, it is 2 3/4 inches around. It has a very gentle curve from the widest point down towards the tip. The tip and base are both rounded off.

The plastic base of the toy unscrews to reveal the battery compartment. There is a tiny metal rod sticking up next to the battery compartment that controls the vibration pattern and power to the toy. There are absolutely no controls on the body of the toy.

Honi's shape/design worked out fine for me. It's small enough for me to insert this without any pain. Just a little lube makes this slick enough for very simple insertion. The retrieval cord feels like it is pretty well stuck on the toy and makes this pretty easy to pull out. As with kegel ball toys, you can always remove this by bearing down on your PC muscles if you feel the cord isn't getting it out.

Considering Honi's size, I feel this toy is pretty discreet and easy to hide. I also feel this would be a good toy for beginners. It's not really that much bigger than two fingers.

This toy's packaging states it is waterproof. I have to agree with that, since it has a double-wall protection in the base. Both layers are made of solid plastic. I have not had any problems with water getting into the battery compartment.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Honi has 12 different functions, all of which are accessed by the plus (+) and minus (-) located in the PicoBong logo on the body of the toy. It actually took me a while to figure out how to get this thing to work, since the directions are very basic and left me confused. Upon inserting a battery and screwing the cap back on, Honi does vibrate slightly. This does allow you to easily identify a dead battery. The vibrations are located around the middle of the toy, though they do distribute very well to other areas of the toy. Vibrations at the tip feel just as powerful as those from the middle of the toy.

To control the toy, you simply hold the + to turn it on. Pressing + will change the vibrating function. Sometimes I am able to just press the button and release it to change the function, sometimes I have to hold + for a few seconds for it to change. Holding - will cycle it backwards and turn the toy off. You must hold a button for a few seconds to go back to constant vibrations or to go to the patterns, + or - depending on where you want to go.

As I stated before, Honi has 12 separate functions:

- Constant vibrations: You can start out at low vibration and hold + to raise it to your needs. It goes up to a high vibration. Using - will lower the vibrations, which can go lower than the low setting.
- Low/High pulses: pulses low, then high in a constant pattern
- Fast Low/High pulses: Same thing, only faster
- Fast high pulses: 4 high pulses a second
- Increasing in power from low to high
- Wave: Something similar to the water washing in on a wave. Goes high slowly, then goes low and stays low for a few seconds
- Shorter wave: like /\/\/\/\
- Slow increase in power from low to high followed by 2 quick high pulses
- Fast increase in power from low to high followed by 5 quick high pulses
- A pattern of increases in power and pulses, mostly low and medium vibrations with a couple of high pulses

I am assuming they include low, medium, and high as three separate functions, since there are 9 other patterns. During use, I just mostly preferred the constant vibrations, the pattern with low/high pulses, and the wave pattern. The vibrations feel average. I didn't find the high vibrations painful or anything. I do feel the vibrations are more rumbly than buzzy.

The controls can be a little difficult to use, depending on how you want to use it. During insertion, you have to yank the whole thing out to change the function. It can be a little difficult to keep pressure on the buttons with lube covered fingers. A separate control button would be much easier to use.

This toy is pretty quiet. I doubt anyone could hear it through a blanket. It's a little bit quieter when inserted, since the sound is muffled. The base of it doesn't make any noise as the rest of it vibrates.

In water, this toy performed just fine. The only downside with using it in water is that the water-based lubes wash away and silicone lubes cannot be used with this toy, since it is also silicone.

As far as battery use goes, I bought some cheap $1 AAA batteries to use with this, and they're lasting just fine. They are the heavy duty ones meant for low-drain devices like alarm clocks. I'm still on the first battery after about 30 minutes of playing around with this. PicoBong's site does note that this will last for at least 2 hours of play before the battery must be changed.
    • Discreet sound
    • Hard to figure out
    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

Honi can be washed with hot, soapy water or toy cleaner. Make sure you follow the directions on a toy cleaning product. The batteries should also be taken out before cleaning Honi. I personally just use hand soap and warm water. I leave it out to dry on a paper towel, since the silicone may attract lint from a towel if I towel it dry. I do not recommend boiling this toy.

I store mine in its own little baggie in with a bunch of other toys. Since it is silicone, I don't recommend just throwing it in a box of toys. Two silicone toys could bond together and get messed up. The box Honi comes in is a little too big for me to keep it in, since there's enough room to store probably 5 or 6 small bullet vibrators inside of it.

Honi is only compatible with water based lubes. Just as with silicone toys, silicone based lubes may bond with the toy.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

The blue Honi comes packaged in a bright blue cardboard box. The front has a cutaway window with plastic over it. This plastic has small icons indicating that this toy is waterproof, nearly silent, body safe, requires one AAA battery, and has 12 functions. The box itself is a flat bright blue with little PicoBong toys in a shinier blue all over it. The back of the packaging states that this has a one year warranty, which is covered more in the included warranty booklet. The back of the packaging also states that the required AAA battery is not included.

Inside of the box, Honi is secured to a black piece of thick card stock. The top of the toy needs to be unscrewed in order to remove it from the cardboard flaps. These flaps can then be pulled back so the little die can be removed. This is not an easy task, as the die is really glued in there. Mine ripped off the card stock pretty easily, but left paper and glue stuck to it. I had to soak it in hot, soapy water to get the glue off. There is an included warranty booklet and a user manual. The manual states to go to PicoBong's website to see what the included die is for. Going to their site actually doesn't say anything about what it's for. It does have a Pac-man kind of game, though, and if you get high scores you can win prizes.

I don't feel the packaging is really useful for storing. It measures about 6.5" x 3.5" x 1.5", so it's quite a bit bigger than the toy itself. Instead, I recommend storing this in a plastic bag. The box isn't particularly too discreet, since it has that big cutaway window.
    • Not discreet
    • Recyclable
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

While Honi is somewhat unique, I found those unique bits of it just a little too irritating to use. The controls are difficult to use, especially if the toy is inserted. I hate having to remove it to change patterns. I feel the slippery surface created by lube on this material also works against me pressing the button. By the time I get the functions changed to what I want, I have pretty much lost "it." The inclusion of the die in the box confuses and bothers me, because I never will find out what it's for. After use, I honestly find myself preferring other bullet vibrators because of their ease of use. I'd say this is about an average toy, more so because of the safety in material and how quiet this is.
Follow-up commentary
I'm still not a fan of Honi. The irritating controls just make me want to skip it and pick something else. I think the die they included with this is a complete waste of time, since they never really state what it is for. It ends up pretty much just being another little useless thing sitting around on my desk. I think the only way you'd get any use out of the die is if you purchased all of the toys on it and used it to pick which one you are using. Or I guess you could use several of them for a really weird game of Yahtzee.
