Not a terrible product, but at $25 it's a definite disappointment. For that price, you can get a much better product with a better fit.

Use

As far as strap-on clitoral vibrators go, the Venus Butterfly was rather disappointing. It doesn't hit the clit when strapped on properly and the straps themselves are rather weak. They stretch too easily and didn't stay put well. When directly and firmly held in place on the clitoris, the Butterfly provided adequate stimulation, but the bulk and noise level makes it far less discreet than the product advertises itself to be.

It is, however, interesting in partner play when strapping it on and allowing your partner to control the buzz. It's not a complete waste of money, now that I have it, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Material / Texture

The material is prone to attracting dust and debris, so don't neglect to keep it stored in a container or plastic bag. It's smooth but the jelly material clings to skin and creates sticky friction without lube. With lube the material feels great. It does have a light odor but I found it generally clean and pleasant.

Design / Shape / Size

The shape is really more bird-like than butterfly-like, but the nub-like ends do create interesting sensations when held firmly to the body. The bottom nub seems to be better suited to provide a little vaginal stimulation while the nose end is applied to the clitoris, although even on the highest setting the vibrations from the bottom nub are negligable. Overall, it's not very clear which end goes where and how to best wear it, and it takes a bit of searching to find just the right spot.

I don't agree with this being a discreet toy, due to its habit of moving around. I tried it on under a pair of pants and it was noticeable, and when using a skirt it had a tendency to slide down off my legs. Because of this, I recommend use at home only. Its size makes it easy to slip in a purse or bag unnoticed though, so it is travel-suitable.

It's definitely cute; there's no denying it. That's part of what enticed me to purchase it. However, I didn't feel like it really suited the female body as well as it could have.

Functions / Performance / Controls

I do like the multispeed function of this Butterfly, which is easy to use, so the Venus Butterfly gets a plus for that. The highest speed was much too intense, which surprised me coming from such a little toy, so I only used the lower settings. If you enjoy very strong sensations, and can get the vibes on your clitoris, then you'll enjoy this. If not, or you can't get it to just the right spot, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Speed aside, this toy was just far too noisy for me, considering its size and function. It is waterproof, and much louder in water, but if you're alone when you use the toy then I suppose this wouldn't be a problem; just keep in mind that there is nothing discreet about it at all. It didn't seem to perform very well under water though, at least not for me. I hardly felt a thing under water.

Care and Maintenance

The Venus Butterfly worked best when I used lube—I use Wet Gel Lubricant—and cleaned up fairly well. You can actually take the battery out, if that concerns you, during cleaning, but simple soap and water works well. I wouldn't recommend the boiling method of sterilization; the toy doesn't feel like it could stand up to it.

If not kept in some sort of container, it collects lint and dirt. At first I stored it in a satin draw-string bag, but it kept picking up static and lint, so now I keep it in a plastic bag. As far as toys go, this one is pretty low maintenance.

Packaging

The packaging was simply plastic inside a box, and I didn't find it useful for storing. Everything you need to know about the product is included in the package, but the plastic inner lining is of the thin, easily ripped variety, and the box is not discreet. Simple and cheap, the packaging did well to transport the product but does nothing for storage, so make sure you have a plastic bag handy.

I don't hate my Butterfly, but I definitely don't recommend it. It might be worth 12 or 15 dollars, but not $25. It has some redeemable features, but overall I was rather disappointed.

      The Luscious Thriller has been a really super vibe. So cheap, but dang that thing never fails me! Lol. It's simple, but has perfect ridges for texture and even a perfect G-spot curve. It's not bulky so it fits in my purse. It's usually my 'go-to vibe' I have fun with all Doc Johnson toys that I've owned so far and they are one of my favs. So is Nasstoys.
