Why any parents or school officials would want to create a reason for their children or students to need psychoanalysis somewhere down the road, we dunno. What we do know is that a winter pep rally at Rosemount High School in Minnesota featured a weird prank in which captains of athletic teams were blindfolded and lined up opposite another line of students. They they were kissed –as far as they knew– by another student. They were supposed to guess who the mystery student was. And the kids were really into it, too! Till they found out it was their parents who did the kissing.
“Some of the kisses lasted several seconds,” the Associated Press reported. A YouTube video of the prank has gone viral and received 1,465,848 hits as of this writing.
Principal Joel Wollersheim said the prank was supposed to be fun. They pulled the same prank six years ago with no ado. But six years ago no one had really heard of viral videos. With stats like the one above it’s not a surprise that he’s getting emails that ask things like “What can possibly be the justification for ridiculing students and their parents in pseudo sexual manner!”
Thank you! Are we being oversensitive, hot house pansies for thinking the adults involved here have a screw loose? One of these days one of these kids is going to be telling his court-appointed therapist that “A boy’s best friend is his mother,” after he’s killed Janet Leigh in the shower. Just sayin’.
If you’re up for a video that’s more awkward than anything “Punk’d” ever dreamed of, here it is. But don't say we didn't warn you.
