At the age of 23 I was still a virgin and didn't know anything about sex. Period. Now mind you, I had dated, but when it came to that subject I was nervous and uneasy. Now I'm with my new boyfriend and the topic of sex is brought up. He knew about me being a virgin and said when the time came, we would do it right. So 13 months and two weeks down the road he came to visit for a couple of weeks. Sex wasn't even thought about, just spending some quality time.
There were no candles, no wine and dine, or a fancy dinner. We were in love, he had been my best friend for the past two years. We used condoms. We had decided that we were going to be monogamous, but I hadn't been able to start birth control because we didn't think that sex would happen when it did. During the whole act he was so kind and gentle and asking if I was okay and reassuring me. He made me feel comfortable and relaxed enough to have sex. Looking back on this experience I'm so glad that it happened properly when I was older. I want everyone to know to do it right, and when you're ready. And to also know that it is okay to be a young woman and want to have sex, but make sure you are actually ready and do it when you're prepared.
